fav june Favorite products of the month: June 11

This month has gone by so incredibly quickly!! Why is it that it’s always the summer months that goes fast and not the winter months? During June I’ve found myself going for the “No Makeup- makeup” quite often which is very much reflected on the products. There are a couple of things that I’m still loving from May like hair products and products for feet and hands so I’m not listing those again, if you want to read about them you can click here. Let’s dive into it :)

nail polishes1 Favorite products of the month: June 11

Beige Petal from Chanel is surprisingly the nail polish I’ve been using more than any. I say surprisingly because it looks quite dull in the bottle at first glanze while in reality it’s a manicure in a bottle. Two coats of this and my nails look like I’ve spent two hours in the nail salon! It annoyes me so much that this polish has gotten so many negative reviews because people think that it’s supposed to be an opaque nude, but that isn’t the purpose of it! I’ve also had some fun with pairing jewellery with my nails in bright colours like Orange Fizz. So much fun for a silly makeup addict :)

eye shadows Favorite products of the month: June 11

As I mentioned above I’ve been wearing No-Makeup makeup a lot in the daytime but at night time I’ve been reaching for my favorite palette, the Naked palette from Urban Decay. My favorite shadows are probably Virgin, Sin, Naked, Buck, Half Baked, Smog, Dark Horse.. ehm, well I think all of them except for Sidecar and Hustle are my favorites, not that those two are bad I just like them less I guess. If you don’t already have this palette, you NEED it!

base products1 Favorite products of the month: June 11

For No-Makeup makeup the base is the most important part. For the daytime I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Nude, Eve Pearl Dual Salmon concealer in light/medium under my eyes (review is coming), Mac painterly paint pot on the lids and Mac msf in Medium in the t-zone before I splash on the blush, highlighter and bronzer which are featured below. The Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Fiji and Urban Decay primer potion are being used for the night time. Nars Sheer Glow is my all time favorite foundation! The cover you get is amazing while your skin still look like skin and it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a mask like with other full coverage foundations. I also like that it’s buildable which makes it easy to cover up better where it’s needed while not using much where you don’t need it. There is no point in covering up nice skin :)

makeup Favorite products of the month: June 11

For the No-Makeup makeup look cream blushers are amazing because they melt into the skin and give you that true blushed look. I like to use Mac Lilicent which is a beautiful peach and sometimes I blend in a bit of Make Up Forever HD cream blush in #5.

Bronzer is also needed and I love the Guerlain 4 Seasons in Brunettes for contouring/shading purposes with a little bit of help from the Nyx Taupe blush (which I need to fix or buy another one of, knowing myself I’ll probably just buy another one) and the Sierra Bronzer from Chanel to have some glowy bronze going on. As a highlighter I’ve been using the Guerlain gold pot (don’t know the name) as I think gold looks so beautiful on tanned skin!

As always I use the Mac eye shadow Omega on my brows – the perfect shade for blonds! Since eye lashes gets sun and salt water damaged I like to use the Lancôme mascara Precious Cells in Brown (yes, my precious) which treats the lashes with some good stuff, I actally really like the wand as well!

make up brushes Favorite products of the month: June 11

I tried to pick ten favorites but I couldn’t..

  1. Sigma SS168 – For bronzing
  2. Mac 116 – For powder in the t-zone
  3. Inglot 6SS – For Benefit Powderflage which I’ve forgotten to mention… oops!
  4. Sigma SS222 – For transition eye shadows like Naked in the crease
  5. Sigma SS 224 – For applying shadows to the brow bone
  6. Sigma E25 – For blending
  7. Sigma E50 – For applying shadow to the lid
  8. Mac 239 – For applying shadow to the lid
  9. Sigma E45 – For precision in the crease like Buck
  10. Sigma SS219 – For applying shadow to the outer corner/ inner corner / underneath the eye
  11. Mac 214 – For smudging gel liner
  12. Mac 208 – For applying shadow to the brows
  13. Inglot 30T – For applying a thin line of gel liner (the fact that it’s bent makes it much easier!!)

I’m still really happy I’m reunited with my Naked palette from Urban Decay!! I promised you guys that I would do several makeup tutorials using the palette and in this tutorial I show you how you can get a club/night makeup with only using the Naked palette :)

Untitled 116 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

palette club Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

1. Start with priming your eyelids with the mini primer potion that came with the palette. Make sure you get it underneath your eye as well. Take a flat brush and pad on the shadow called Gunmetal all over your lid. I’ve used a Sigma E 60 large shader brush.

IMG 9115 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

2. Take a big fluffy brush and blend in some of Naked into the crease and a little bit above to create a smooth transistion from dark to light on the brow bone. I used Sigma E35 – large blending brush.

IMG 9135 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

3. To get some play of light and to draw the focus to your eye – place Virgin on top of Gunmetal on the middle part of your lid, undernath your eye and by the tear duct. Virgin now turns into a beautiful light bluish metallic shadow.

IMG 9136 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

4. Enhance this even more by blending Creep into the outer corner both on the lid and underneath the eye like in the picture below.

IMG 9143 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

5. Next step is to darken the crease a little bit more by blending in Buck just in the crease (not as far up as Naked). My favorite blending brush for this purpose is Sigma’s small tapered blending brush E45.

IMG 9146 Naked in the Night Makeup tutorial with the Urban Decay Naked palette

6. Apply falsies, eyeliner and mascara and your finished :) I’ve used my favorite falsies from Ardell, Demi Wispies, and liquid liner from L’oreal and Dior Dior Show mascara.

Let’s go clubbing!!! :D

IMG 9032 I got a delivery from Asos :)

James can´t hear the door bell on the balcony so while he was lost in Alex’ Adventures in Numberland (how exciting) I snuck past him like a smooth feline, opened the door for the concierge and whispered ‘thank you’ and closed the door while holding my breath and snuck like a gentle breeze into my dressing room to discover my precious’s which of course “I have had like forever” if he ever asks ;)

I bought three dresses, one top and two pairs of shoes…..

2 I got a delivery from Asos :)

I’m so happy with the perfect combo I found with both the white dress and the brown shoes, and the grey top with the greyish shoes! I’m thinking that the dress is going to be gorgeous with luminous and bronze skin with a bright lip and eye liner. The top will be perfect with tight leather pants and a smokey eye with nude lips.

The two other dresses I’m sending back. One was ruined and one just looked so cheap because of the terrible fabric they used. I thought I’d give colour blocking a try but it just isn’t for me I guess as I’m a big believer that there is a reason to everything which has made everything much easier to cope with in regards of both small everyday stuff like this and the bigger and more serious things in life.

Always check your clothes carefully to make sure they are fine. This one was ruined on the back so I’m sending it back.

IMG 9057 I got a delivery from Asos :)

There is a sale going on at Asos right now. I found 5 dresses and one pair of shoes for only £201 + one bag for £165. Bargain! :)

Do you sometimes mkae secret buys and do you think about what makeup will suit an outfit when you go shopping?

I just found a sale at Jan Marini! Jan Marini is the skin care brand that helped me get rid of my acne together with the prescription pill Diane a couple of years ago. I thought I’d never get rid of it because I tried everything from antibiotics to acid treatments at my dermatologist with no luck.

Jan Marini was introduced to me as a skin care regime to be used alongside laser treatments. I didn’t buy more than the cleanser to begin with as I saved my money for the treatments instead. That was really stupid! The treatments didn’t really work unless I went in every week which was going to get really expensive in the long run. When my moisturizers and serums from Dermalogica ran out I bought Jan Marini instead and THEN I started to see huge changes. It was so shocking because I wasn’t expecting such a big difference from skin care as I had tried everything both from the perfume houses (Clinique, Clarins, Chanel, Biotherm, Lancome, Estee Lauder++) and from the Dermatologist (Md Formulations, Guinot, Matis, Decleor++). I have used this brand ever since except for in the summer. Now I use a norwegian brand called Oenothera which is made of only natural ingredients.

Because it contains a lot of acid it is not suitable to use while sundbathing a lot as it can give you dark spots from the sun, but this is the perfect oppurtunity to stock up so that you can get a fresh start in the fall. Even though I don’t suffer from acne anymore I still use it as it really helps in smoothing out the skin tone and removing old ugly scars. I LOVE Jan Marini!!

jmgroup Sale on Jan Marini!!I found the sale a bit late, so there are a lot of products that are sold out already but you can still find really good bargains as these are US prices and on sale :) International shipping cost $9 no matter what or how much you order! I haven’t ordered from this site before so I don’t know how reliable it is but it looks good :)

My favorites are:

  • Bioglycolic Cleanser (I think this is sold out)
  • Bioglycolic Bioclear Cream
  • Benzoyl Peroxide (strong stuff so start with the lowest concentration if you’re not used to acid)
  • Factor A-Lotion
  • Tranformation Cream (I think this is sold out)
  • Tranformation Eye Cream
  • C-esta Serum (I think this is sold out)

As for the products that are sold out I’m sure you can get them at prettyskin4less :)

Time to get Naked!!! :)

This is a shimmery brown gold and bronze look that I think suits most people and is perfect for the daytime when you want some makeup on your eyes as well but don’t want it to be too much. Bronze and golds are really pretty for summer and with slightly sunkissed skin and bright summery lips you are more than ready for a hot summer date! James repeatedly announced his facination wiuth this makeup look and has been swarming around me all day :)

bronze and gold eyes Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

I’m sorry some of the pictures are a bit blurry, I don’t know what happend but I’m guessing it might have something to do with the fact that I haven’t really found a good spot with enough light for taking pictures yet so the camera has difficulty focusing. I’ll try to find a solution so that the next tutorials are better.

All of the eyeshadows used in this tutorial are from the Urban Decay Naked palette and I’ve marked the shadows I’ve used with stars:

palette colours naked look Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

1. Start by priming your eye lid with the little primer potion that comes with the palette. You don’t need much and it’s only needed up to the crease and underneath your eye so this little container is going to last for a long time. Take a big fluffy brush like Sigma E40 and fluff on some “Naked” (soft matte brown) into the crease and a little bit above so that you get a soft transition colour from the crease up to the brow bone. Then take some of “Virgin” (light shimmery highlight) and fluff it on right underneath the brow and by the tear duct.

2. Use a flat brush to apply “Smog” (shimmery bronze brown) to the outer half of the lid. I used Sigma E55.

smog1 Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

3. Use the other side of the same flat brush to apply some of “Half Baked” (shimmery gold) on the inner half of the lid and blend them together to get a nice transition.

half baked Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

4. Take a medium sized fluffy brush and apply some of “Buck” into the crease but not as far up as you put “Naked” because we still want a nice transition. I’ve used my favorite brush E25 from Sigma.

Buck Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

5. Apply “Darkhorse” to the outer v with a small round pencil brush like Sigma E30 and put some underneath the eye as well so that the lower lashline is connected to the upper lashline. This gives some nice depth without being too harsh for the daytime.

darkhorse Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

6. Apply Half Baked underneath the eye between Virgin and Darkhorse to pop in some gold here as well.

7. Apply mascara and brown gel liner, and you1′re done :) (I’ve used lashes as well – had to try out the new lashes I got from Madame Madeline, these are called Sexies which I thought suited a Naked look ;) ) I kept it fairly simple on the rest of the face, just using a bronzer from Guerlain and a pink lipstick from Chanel. My hair is also quite simply styled, using only salt water spray to create a beachy wavy Serne Van Der Woodsen style ;)

Hi dolls! I’m sorry I’ve been away for a couple of days, I’ve been caught up in my hunt for a cute little white pomeranian puppy! I’m so excited!!!!! I’ve been wanting a dog for such a long time and I finally manged to persuade James into agreeing that we should have a puppy! I’ve been searching like a crazy person to find the best breeder, one with both healthy and beautiful dogs and it’s insane how cynical and horrible some people can be to be able to run dog farms just to make money without any care for the dogs at all. I’ve sent some angry emails to put it like that…

Anyway, it looks like I’ve found the right breeder although I might have to wait untill christmas but it’s defintely worth the wait. Look at this cute little one:

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6fhHioCKTU

Isn’t he/she just adorable?? Even James went aaaw several times :) I can’t wait!!

I also wanted to let you know about the secret sale going on at HQhair.com so that you can get hold of whatever you want before it gets sold out ;)

Im becoming a mummy in fall/winter plus another secret!!!!!!

These are my big cravings that just might end winging their way to me:cravings1 Im becoming a mummy in fall/winter plus another secret!!!!!!

There are some beauty products that I tend to use much more during the summer. These are bronzers, self tans, summery nail polishes and lipglosses, fresh and cute blushes, whatever I can get my hands on that helps keep my makeup in place during hot clubbing – and healing products for sore feet after clubbing ;)

- Btw, I still think that eating healthy and working out is extremely important – this is more like a boost that also gets rid of toxins :)

Do you have a dog and if so what breed do you have and what is her/his name? What beauty products do you use most of during summer?

IMG 87261 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

It’s needless to say how happy I am to finally have gotten my greedy little hands on this palette. I originally bought it in Dublin last year but I forgot it on one of our trips to London as it always comes with me on travels. It really is the perfect travel palette for both its matte and neutral shades and the more fun ond punchy shades for weekends and party. The first edition palette came with a double sided eyeliner of Whiskey (brown) and Zero (Black) while this edition is in company of a brush instead – and with the mini sized primer potion like last time.

IMG 8729 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

Personally I think it makes much more sense to have a brush in the palette (though it should´ve been a double sided brush) but I guess you get much more value of two eyeliners. Oh well, it’s not the worst change they could change! The brush is similar to the large shader brush E60 from Sigma in size but the hairs feel a bit stiffer. I did my swatches with the brush and I must say that it picks up a lot of shadow but I don’t think it’s the best for blending. I reckon that you can fit a couple of the mini SS217 that Sigma used to give out though ;)

  • Hustle: A dark plummy brown with flecks of purple.
  • Creep: A black with gold and silver shimmer.
  • Gunmetal: A black base with blue-gray frost and silver shimmer.

Get it here.

In a lot of my makeup tutorials I use a really easy technique for getting a soft eyeliner which takes a maximum of 30 seconds to get perfect. This techinque can also be used for a simple and pretty daytime look whenever you want to use neutral colours or a pop of fresh colour to compliment your eye colour.

1. As always we start with priming our eyelid to make sure that the makeup will last all day. Make sure you get some on the outer corner as well if you want a winged eyeliner like Angelina Jolie. I’ve used Urban Decay Primer Potion.

IMG 8509 How to apply a perfect soft eyeliner in 30 seconds

2. Get your favorite gel liner and line your lash line. You can choose if you want it to end in the outer corner of if you want a little wing. If you want to wing it a little, make sure it’s at an angle with the outer corner of your eye and the end of the eyebrow. The great thing about this technique is that it does not need to be perfect, but do it fast so that it won’t dry before you get the chance to smudge it. I’ve used Bobbi Brown Black Ink with a E05 brush from Sigma.

IMG 8513 How to apply a perfect soft eyeliner in 30 seconds

3. Take whatever colour you want your line to be on a small brush and smudge out the liner with the eye shadow. You can use brown or black for a neutral look, or go for a colour that will compliment your eye colour. Since I have brown eyes I like to use green which brings out my brown eyes. I’ve used Humid from Mac with a E20 brush from Sigma.

tom ford3 Tom Ford Launches Makeup and Skin Care Line

Tom Ford launched 12 beautiful lipsticks with an amazing consistency and pigmentation last year. Now he wants to expand the range of lipsticks into 18 shades and create a whole line of makeup and skincare with focus on colour and the structure of the face. I feel almost as this makeup line is made for me with its gorgous and sophisticated design, strong lips and smokey eyes with well defined eyebrows and structured face – it sounds amazing!!

Source: WWD and Temptalia

The line launches in september and will only be available in Tom Ford Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as select Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenues. It will also be in Italy’s La Rinascente and U.K.’s Harvey Nichols and Selfridges. The aim is to compete against luxury brands like By Terry and Cle de Peau. I’m definitely going to London in september to check out the new lipsticks, the eye brow pencils which supposedly can draw on hairs, the Shade and Illuminate duet and maybe have a sniff of the Violet Blonde which will be a new Signature Collection fragrance slated for a September launch.

What do you think about the packaging of the collection? Are you excited about the launch?
