May 2012

Hey everyone ♥

I hope everyone is having a lovely day!!

I woke up at 06 this morning with butterflies in my tummy as it was Christmas eve. My mum, aunt and cousin arrived just before noon, and we decided to head out for a lunch on the beach accompanied by rosé wine, mojito and ice cream :D

Love the decor at Miami Plage!!

Can you believe this woman has passed 60?? My mum is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside, and I don’t know what I would do without her. She means so much to me and I’m so incredibly happy to have both her and my lovely aunt and cousin here.

After the lunch we went to the Japanese garden and had lots of fun. The Japanese garden is such a beautiful place, if you’re ever in Monaco it’s a have to see. It’s right next to the Grimaldi Forum.

Now we’re just going to relax with a glass of wine on the balcony before we head out for dinner :)

I hope you’re all enjoying this lovely Thursday as well!! xx

Good evening beautiful!

Here is as promised  a little sneak peek into my home. I’m sorry it took such a long time, I’m not used to taking these kind of photos – but it was a lot of fun! Bare in mind that we’re still not finished decorating. We still need art (haven’t even hung up the two we’ve got yet), plants and flowers and carpets, and we’re also awaiting a delivery from the US (which is finally shipped and will be with us in just a few weeks!! :))

Dressing room:

I also store all my makeup in this room, you can see how I store it in this post

Needless to say, this is my favourite room. James and I have separate dressing rooms, so his dressing room is in the end of the hallway, but I won’t be taking you there today. Turning towards the other side of the hallway and crossing through the entrance hallway we find the dining room/lounge.

The black chair is being swapped for a cute and cozy one in the same beige colour as the ceiling light. We’re also looking to swap the dining chairs, but haven’t found any we like yet.

Please ignore the very empty walls… :) I’m picturing a huge art piece just above the sofa, and as for the other side I’ve planned to put a huge 5-foot wall clock we’ve got coming from New York. SO pretty!!

This cute little thing I found in Dubai, perfect for storing bottles of yummy red wine ;)

The tv is going onto the wall unit, we’re just waiting for the right arm thingy to hook it up to. The coffee table we’ve decided to put a glass top on instead as we feel it might be a bit too heavy with this tree table top, what do you think? I can’t wait for all the decorations and furniture to arrive from New York!! Will be so much fun to show you before and after pictures!! :D

I’ll show you the rest of the flat another time. Need to get some sleep before my family arrives tomorrow, sooo excited!! My mum has been here before, but my aunt has never been so I’m taking them all on some sightseeing and of course I will bring the camera as well so you can expect a lot of sightseeing photos this weekend.

I hope you’re all having a very lovely Wednesday night. Only one day left untill the WE, wuuhuu :D

IMG 8337 I finally found similar ones!! :)

I’ve had sooo many questions about my favourite sandals both here on the blog, from friends and even in Thailand (one girl asked if she could take a photo of them). I bought them on Heathrow airport last year, and I haven’t seen them anywhere since, but as promised I have had an eye out for something similar and so when I came across these sandals I knew I would make at least a few of you happy :D

What’s even better is that they are on sale ♥ Wooohooo!!

I finally found similar ones!! :)

They can be yours for only £18.74, how amazing :D These are not the only pair I will be clicking home (mine are starting to be pretty worn out hehe), they have a jungle of gorgeous sandals and wedges on sale:

sale I finally found similar ones!! :)

Can be found here

They are also having a 25% sale on bikinis which you have to check out! There is a fluorescent aztec bikini which is just absolutely gorgeous.. and there is also a swim suit which is almost identical to the neon coral one from the photoshoot I walked past the other day. Aaaaaaah, such a fun sale!! :)

Hey sweets

Gah. My arms hurt so much I could hardly wash my hair this morning. I redecorated the flat last night and moved lots of heavy furniture around. Guess I should do it more often as it gives me both muscles and joy. It’s funny how items gets a new personality when moved somewhere differently. When I need some inspiration I always like to rearragne as it helps me think outside the box with other things as well. You see things from a different perspective :)

Hi everyone,

Have you had a nice start to the new week? I hope so

IMG 19761 Recipe: Buns and cinnamon rolls

I have been super lazy today :) I spent most of the day on the balcony in the sun while reading books, magazines and blogs and talking with James for hours on both the phone and skype. He is on the other side of the world, but because of some visa issue he has to return earlier than expected (yay!) which unfortunately means he has to go back again next month (buuuh). Skype is such a wonderful thing. I use it with my family in Sweden, my family in Norway and now also James. I’ve had some questions regarding how to keep the relationship alive whilst being far apart for longer periods of time. I think finding a bit of time for Skype each day is really important, as well as cute little messages ♥ Other than that, I actually believe it’s healthy to be apart and miss each other now and then.

IMG 1977 Recipe: Buns and cinnamon rolls

To make up for my laziness I spent the after noon being efficient around the house. I’m having three beautiful family members visiting this week, and I can’t wait to have them here!! I’ve been sorting out everything I can so that they can have a pleasant stay here in Avenue de Grande Bretagne. That includes baking – the delicious and unhealthy kind! I made buns and cinnamon rolls which I popped into the freezer so that I can whip them out for a nice cup of tea on the balcony when we come back from the beach :)

IMG 1984 Recipe: Buns and cinnamon rolls

Recipe:

You need:

♥ 1 kg flour
♥ 6 dl milk ( I didn’t have milk and so I used activia mixed with water, which surprisingly tasted even better)
♥ 150 g sugar
♥ 3 tsp salt
♥ 3 tsp cardamom
♥ 1 sachet dry yeast
♥ 1 egg, room tempered
♥ 150 g butter, room tempered and in dices

How to:

1. Mix all the dry ingredients and the egg in a bowl.
2. Heat the milk untill luke warm (about 30 C).
3. Add the milk little by little (use a slow speed if you’re using a torture machine of some kind).
4. Now add the butter little by little whilst still keeping it on a slow speed. It will take a while for the butter to absorb so just let it be for 5 minutes.
5. Leave the dough in a warm place for an hour, or untill double size.
6. Heat the oven to 240 C (we’ll adjust this down to 180 later, it’s just to compensate for when we open the door to put in the buns).
7. Roll the dough into buns and leave them for yet another 30 minutes before you lower the temperature of the oven to 180 C and pop them in for 15-20 minutes.
(if you want you can make cinnamon rolls as well, just leave som of the dough and use a rolling-pin to stretch the dough. Add butter, sugar and cinnamon and roll into a sausage, and divide into little cute rolls.)

Result: Super yummy and delicious buns :D Having already made buns in the freezer is such a useful thing if you have unexpected guests, or just don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen whilst having guests over ;)

How has your day been? I hope you’ve had a lovely day as well!! xx

Vroooom. Vroooooom. Vrooooom. I’m going mad.

It’s impossible to do anything remotely efficient by the computer with this noise in the background, so I headed out to the beach instead :)

I was incredibly lucky with the weather, because as I write this the rain is pouring down and I can hear distant thunder in between the honking from the ships, yacht and boats, but no more car sounds. That means…GP’s over. Celebration time!! The biggest party tonight will be in Sea Lounge where James and I had our first kiss, hehe. I was planning on going to see some friends there tonight, but I might bail if this rain continues.

Rain and silence is perfect for indoors activities though. Speaking of, I just ordered a treadmill for the balcony and I can’t wait for it to arrive!!! Although I really love going hiking or walking around in general, I often come to a point on longer runs where I’m either unbearably thirsty or I’m about to pee my pants, so it will be nice to be able to do longer runs at home instead and then shorter hikes in the mountains. The treadmill will be delivered in lots of bits and pieces though so I will have to put on my best charm to get some help from the guys delivering it, if my very charmy blinking fails I will have to wait untill my handsome handyman comes back in a week ;)

I hope you’re enjoying the Sunday xx

I often get asked what lipstick I use, and truth is, I rarely use just one single item. Don’t stop reading just yet as this isn’t one of those posts where you’re told to layer 5-6 different lipsticks, balms and lipglosses – I promise I’m about to reveal a really nifty little trick with no need of a lot of products.

As you’ve probably read somewhere, adding a bit of a shimmer or light colour on your Cupid’s bow (which is the center part of the area above your upper lip) will make your top lip look fuller and more pouty which means no need of striking the duck face pose. Avoid using a matte concealer in a lighter shade than your skin tone though, as this can easily end up looking like a milk moustash instead. The way to go with this is to dab either a light shimmery lipstick or a liquid highlighter on the Cupid’s bow, and then dab a slightly darker but more colourful lipstick on the rest of the lips which will make the lips appear sensual and pouty (yet still with no need of the duck face). That’s all. If done correctly, it can make a massive difference to your whole face.

Playing with light and dark contrasts allows you to harmonise any difference between upper and lower lip volume as well. Apply the lighter and more shimmery product to the lip that you want to appear fuller and bigger. Word of advice, avoid using a lipstick of the same colour as your skin as that can easily result in the corpse look. It’s just disconcerting. If your lips are very thin and lack volume, then dab the lighter shade in the center of the lower and upper lip while carefully lining up the lips with a lipliner in similar colour to your natural lip colour. The light colour in the midle will give the lips volume, while the lip liner while enhances your lips.

In the highly unlikely event that you feel your lips are too full, you can use a darker matte shade to slim them down.

In the picture below I’ve used Benefit High Beam on the Cupid’s bow, and dabbed a bit of Estee Lauder Barcelona kiss on the rest of the lips.

lip products A nifty lipstick technique for full and pouty lips

Favourite lipstick brands: Chanel, YSL, Mac and Nars. Nars does both high quality lipstick and lip pencils in lots of beautiful shades.
Favourite lip liner: Subculture lip liner by Mac, it’s the perfect nude lip liner. And despite the large range of lip liner shades, a nude lipliner will work with any lipstick shade as it’s the same colour you have naturally anyway.
Favourite all round highlighter: High Beam by Benefit (which I used on my Cupids bow in the picture above). A liquid highlighter can be used on the cheekbones to make them appear higher, eye brow bones to make the brows appear higher, Cupid’s bow to make your lips more pouty, along the bridge of the nose to slim down the nose, by the tear duct for brighter eyes and on collar bone to appear skinnier.. the list goes on. Every girl should have a good liqud highlighter because they don’t cost much and they last almost forever.

Where to get it?

♥ Chanel and YSL can be found in Sephora or other beauty stores.
♥ Nars lip products can also be found in Sephora, and here (worldwide shipping).
♥ Benefit high beam can also be found in Sephora, and here or here (worldwide shipping).
♥ Mac products can be found online, or in Mac stores.

What are your favourite lip products?

Hey babes ♥

Are you enjoying your Saturday night? I hope so :) I just had dinner while going through all unread blog posts on bloglovin, such a good way of keeping track on the blogs you follow. Do you use bloglovin? It’s really genious, you just add all the blogs you like and then bloglovin will automatically update the home page with new blog posts. So easy!

I promised to show you pictures from my little stroll earlier today, so here they are:
