Skjermbilde 2012 03 09 kl. 18.58.17 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

I’ve had so many requests for makeup tutorials using this amazing palette, but I wanted to wait a little bit to make sure everyone had a chance to get it first to avoid pissing someone off. Yet again makeup addicts around the world wipes out the shelves at Urban Decay and the palette is gone for months. If you haven’t already, make sure you score one here as I’m sure it won’t be in for long.

1. Start by applying a primer to your eye lid, this will prevent your eyeshadow from creasing. I like to use Urban Decay Primer Potion. Once the primer is set I washed on a layer of Foxy which will make it easier to blend the colours later on.

IMG 7308 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

2. I then used a blending brush to blend Tease into the crease (wow, that rhymed, I wonder if they did that on purpose). When blending, it’s better to add shadow little by little and wipe the brush back and forth until your arm hurts. If you make a mistake and bring it up too high the best solution is to go over with Foxy again to dilute the colour. What ever you do, don’t use makeup remover as this will make a horrible line which is impossible to correct later on.

IMG 7309 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

3. Using a flat brush I added Snakebite to the outer half of the eye lid. Because the shadow is farely shimmery I find I get the best result with pressing the eyeshaow on rather than using wiping motion. This prevents fall outs as well.

IMG 73111 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

4. Using the other side of the same brush I added Half Baked to the inner half of the lid. I used the same pressing method here as well. To get a nice transition between the two shadows, you can wipe the brush carefully back and forth just there.

IMG 7313 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

5. To open up the eyes I like to use a light colour in the inner corner. For this look I chose to mix Verve with Bootycall as I think the two together makes a pretty neutral highlight colour. I used a small rounded tapered brush for this.

IMG 73161 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

6. On the inner half of the lower lid I continued with the same colour as I used in the inner half of the upper lid, Half Baked. I applied it using the same pressing method as mentioned above with the same brush as before.

IMG 73171 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

7. Using Snakebite I connected the colour in the outer corner dragging if slightly further to elongate the eye. I also cleaned up fall outs and blended out the edges once more with Foxy using a big fluffy brush, this makes the over all look softer.

IMG 73191 Makeup Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked 2

8. Lastly I lined my upper lashline with a liquid eyeliner and finished off with mascara on both upper and lower lashes.

A lot of people don’t like autumn. I’m not one of them. I love autumn! You get to wear cozy clothes and read a good book surrounded by candles. You get to stay in without feeling bad because it’s raining outside. You also get to wear a little bit more makeup on the daytime as compared to summer. This tutorial features a very wearable look that will go for any eye colour and suit all kinds of occasions. It’s very subtle, but it gives you an illusion of natural beauty. Best of all, it doesn’t take you much time, you don’t need a lot of products, and it’s very easy.

1. Start with getting a bright and even base on your lid and under your eye. I’ve used Mac Painterly paint pot on the lid and Mac Select Moisturecover in NW15 under the lid to cover dark circles. Finish off with a wash of a nude colour over the base all over the lid all the way up to the brows, I’ve used Blanc Type by Mac applied with a Mac 224 which is a big and fluffy brush.

IMG 1800 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

2. Use a very light warm matte brown colour to contour the brow bone. Bring it quite far up and slightly outwards and up towards the end of the brow. We will go in with a darker shadow to contour even more later on, but now we just want a soft gradient effect. I’ve used Soft Brown by Mac which I applied with a Sigma E25 (same as Mac 217) which is my all time favorite brush for blending.

IMG 1804 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

IMG 1803 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

3. Take a brown shadow a smidgen darker (still a very light brown) and focus it on the area directly under the brow bone to make it stand out more and blend it carefully into the lighter brown to emphasize the gradient effect. Drag the brush across back and forth and apply a little by little. I use a very soft hand and only the tip of the tip of the brush for this. I used an eyeshadow called Cork from Mac and applied it with the same brush as I used for the lighter brown, the Sigma E25.

IMG 1805 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

4. Apply a golden shimmery shadow on the lid and in the inner corner.  Try to not get any of the shimmer into the matte brown shadows we have applied on the brow bone. I used Nylon from Mac and applied it with a Mac 239. Then apply a brown shadow along the lower lashline with a thin brush. I used 214 from Sigma (don’t remember the new number) to apply Mac Espresso.

IMG 1808 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

IMG 1809 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

5. Use a liquid eyeliner to line up your lash line flicking it slightly out. If you find it difficult I recommend using a pencil liner to line up first and then use the liquid liner to line up with, this way it’s easier to correct any mistakes. I used Loreal Super Liner Carbon Gloss in black.

IMG 1845 Makeup tutorial: Soft and Sophisticated Day Look

6. Apply false lashes (optional) and mascara. If you wish to make your eyes look bigger, you can apply a white/nude eyeliner on the inner rims of your lower lash lines. I used sweeties lashes from Ardell, DiorShow Extase mascara and Stila kajal liner in the colour Topaz. Tadaaa, you’re done:D

I made this makeup look before my first photo shoot as I wanted something slightly different and fun at the same time as it’s not too crazy and came up with this.

make up look header Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

I used:

IMG 0596 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

The first time I did the look (for the photoshoot) I used Mac Satin Taupe instead of Nyx Iced Mocha, but I dropped it on the floor a while back and I have forgotten to buy a new one. Iced Mocha is often referred to as a dupe of Satin Taupe, so I’m using that.

1. Start with priming your eye lids both above and under your eye, and do your eyebrows as you normally do.

IMG 05131 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

2. Place the jumbo eyepencil in Iced Mocha on the lid (or Mac Satin Taupe eyeshadow). Isn’t the iced mocha just gorgeous?

IMG 05151 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

3. Take a blending brush and apply some of Copperplate and Kid in the crease. I like to use Kid to get a nice gradient finish as it is a very natural brown shade colour but I chose to use Copperplate as well to make it slightly more smokey towards the outer corner.

IMG 05202 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

4. Take the same brush and apply a darker colour in the outer corner to give some more definition. I chose to use Mystery. If you need some inspiration for new daytime makeup looks you can stop at this point and apply one coat of mascara and you’re done. Super chic. If you’re looking for something more fun then keep on reading.

IMG 0524 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

5. To make the purple colour more vibrant it’s a good idea to use a purple base as well, I chose to use the Nyx Jumbo Pencil in Purple.

IMG 0526 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

6. Pack on the pigment Violet from Mac on top of the Purple JEP to make it really stick on.

IMG 0533 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

7. Line your lash line with a black creamy eye liner, I love to use Stila eye liners for these purposes as it is really long lasting and easy to apply. Make sure you really tight line the lash line so that you get a nice and intense eye.

duo liner Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

8. Take a pointy brush like the Sigma SS219 (don’t remember the new name!) and smudge out the lower lashline with a black eyeshadow so that you get a gradient finish from the black and over to the violet colour. Smudge a little bit extra towards the outer corner. Dab the colour on top of the line you made on your upper lash line so that the line stays in place for longer. Clean up any mess, and take a blending brush and blend out the violet colour with the light brown Kid eyeshadow. Apply some of Blanc Type on your brow bone for a more defined brow.

IMG 05491 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

9. Apply mascara (and false lashes if you want some extra pow), and you’re done :D

IMG 0557 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

IMG 0562 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

I’ve had a million questions about what lip product I used, and I’m sorry to say that it’s simply a clear plumping lipgloss from Dior (Maximizer).

IMG 0580 Makeup tutorial: The look of the header with metallic brown and purple.

I forgot the lipliner at home so I had to use my brow liner which worked perfectly fine for the photoshoot but I wouldn’t recommend it for anywhere else. The rest of my face is covered in lots of powder with a dash of Fleur Power from Mac in the apples of my cheeks as well as some contouring products which I’ll tell you all about some other time as it really is something that only works for photoshoots.

I hope you enjoyed the makeup tutorial. If you don’t like purple you can easily switch it out with turquoise, green or even a metallic copper or gold :) xx

Time to get Naked!!! :)

This is a shimmery brown gold and bronze look that I think suits most people and is perfect for the daytime when you want some makeup on your eyes as well but don’t want it to be too much. Bronze and golds are really pretty for summer and with slightly sunkissed skin and bright summery lips you are more than ready for a hot summer date! James repeatedly announced his facination wiuth this makeup look and has been swarming around me all day :)

I’m sorry some of the pictures are a bit blurry, I don’t know what happend but I’m guessing it might have something to do with the fact that I haven’t really found a good spot with enough light for taking pictures yet so the camera has difficulty focusing. I’ll try to find a solution so that the next tutorials are better.

All of the eyeshadows used in this tutorial are from the Urban Decay Naked palette and I’ve marked the shadows I’ve used with stars:

palette colours naked look Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

1. Start by priming your eye lid with the little primer potion that comes with the palette. You don’t need much and it’s only needed up to the crease and underneath your eye so this little container is going to last for a long time. Take a big fluffy brush like Sigma E40 and fluff on some “Naked” (soft matte brown) into the crease and a little bit above so that you get a soft transition colour from the crease up to the brow bone. Then take some of “Virgin” (light shimmery highlight) and fluff it on right underneath the brow and by the tear duct.

2. Use a flat brush to apply “Smog” (shimmery bronze brown) to the outer half of the lid. I used Sigma E55.

smog1 Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

3. Use the other side of the same flat brush to apply some of “Half Baked” (shimmery gold) on the inner half of the lid and blend them together to get a nice transition.

half baked Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

4. Take a medium sized fluffy brush and apply some of “Buck” into the crease but not as far up as you put “Naked” because we still want a nice transition. I’ve used my favorite brush E25 from Sigma.

Buck Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

5. Apply “Darkhorse” to the outer v with a small round pencil brush like Sigma E30 and put some underneath the eye as well so that the lower lashline is connected to the upper lashline. This gives some nice depth without being too harsh for the daytime.

darkhorse Naked in the Daytime Makeup Tutorial :)

6. Apply Half Baked underneath the eye between Virgin and Darkhorse to pop in some gold here as well.

7. Apply mascara and brown gel liner, and you1′re done :) (I’ve used lashes as well – had to try out the new lashes I got from Madame Madeline, these are called Sexies which I thought suited a Naked look ;) ) I kept it fairly simple on the rest of the face, just using a bronzer from Guerlain and a pink lipstick from Chanel. My hair is also quite simply styled, using only salt water spray to create a beachy wavy Serne Van Der Woodsen style ;)

I´ve been asked if I can do a bronze makeup look which is quite fun because it is a sexy look that also can be worn in the summer because the bronze really brings out a tan without being too heavy on the eyes and it suits all eye colours as well!

Most of the makeup brushes I used in this tutorial are from Sigma which you can get here. Most of the makeup I´ve used is from Mac, but if you live in a place where it´s difficult to get a hold of Mac you should get the beautiful Urban Decay Naked palette. This palette contains all the colours I´ve used in this tutorial. I warn you that there might be a lot of raving about the Naked palette in near future because my Naked palette is on its way to me as we speak!!! :D

4farger1 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

1. Start with priming your eyelid. If you don´t prime your eyelids your makeup is going to end up underneath your eyes or smudged out all over the place. If you have very oily eye lids or are planning on a long night with lots of dancing I recommend using a primer like the Urban Decay Primer Potion underneath your cream base. My eye lids aren´t that oily so I´m only using Mac Paint pot in Painterly today. Put some underneath the eye as well so that the shadow will stick better here too. After priming apply a matte skin toned eyeshadow on the brow bone, this will make it easier to blend later on.

IMG 8186 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

2. Find a gorgeous bronzey gold eyeshadow you like and place it on 2/3 of the eye, you don´t have to be very neat about this because we will blend out the edges later on. If your eyeshadow is very shimmery or glittery you should apply it with a patting motion instead of dragging it across as this will prevent fall outs on your cheeks. I´ve used Lancôme 569 ( I think, it was very difficult to decipher) with a Mac 239 brush.

IMG 8187 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

3. Take a fluffy brush and apply a dark matte brown on the outer corner and blend it into the bronze. The reason why you will want to use a matte colour is that you want to keep the highlight in the bronze and blending the bronze and the matte brown together will create a beautiful transition colour which is a mix of those two as shown in the image below. I used a Sigma E25 blending brush to apply Mac Brown Down.

IMG 8190 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

4. Take a big fluffy brush and apply a soft brown to the crease blending upwards and into the matte skin tones eye shadow we started out with. The reason why we blend is to create a natural and smooth transition between the dark colours and skin toned colour on the brow bone. I´ve used a Sigma E40 to apply Mac Kid.

IMG 8192 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

5. Take some of the matte brown you used in the outer corner and place it underneath the lower lashline. I´ve used a Sigma E20 for this which really is the best brush for this purpose no matter what eyeshadow you are working with!

IMG 8194 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

6. To create an illusion of slightly bigger eyes you can apply a light shimmery gold eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eye by the tear duct. I’ve used Mac Rice Paper.

IMG 8195 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

7. Use a gel liner to line the upper lash line. It doesn’t have to be very neat because we are going to smudge it out. If you want a winged eyeliner the line should be extended at the angle that the lower lashline curves towards the end of the eye brow as shown in the image below. When you´ve found the right angle you make it thicker on the outer corner. I’ve used Bobbi Brown Black Ink and I applied it with a Sigma E05.

IMG 8200 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

8. Now smudge the liner you just made with a matte black eye shadow :) By smudging we get a soft eye liner which makes the look more smokey and sultry at the same time as it is far easier to achieve a nice and even line ;) This is also a great way to wear eye liner in the day time with mascara, only brown would look better in daytime. Take some of the black eyeshadow and drag it down to the outer corner of the lower lashline to connect the two lash lines.

IMG 8201 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

9. Apply false lashes or just apply mascara. I´ve used Ardell 113 and cut them a little bit shorter because I felt they were a little bit too long. I also used Dior Iconic mascara. You´re done babe! :)

IMG 8215 A Summery Sultry Sexy Smokey bronze makeup tutorial

I can’t wait to have him back and to finally get some sleep again as I sleep incredibly badly when he is not by my side! Oh well, it’s days like these that I have the time to do tutorials which is a lot of fun!!! Now I´m going to dive into a good book since there is thunder and lightning outside, there is nothing like it! :) I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend cupcakes!!

A friend of mine asked me if I could do a smokey eye with brown eyeshadow and showed me a picture from the Maje spring summer collection. My friend has big beautiful green eyes so I chose quite a reddish brown which will make green eyes pop even though it suits other eye colours as well. I tried to keep it simple and use few products because I know how annoying it can be to see a look you like but there´s just too many products you´ll need so this look I think is very achievable without spending much money.. if anything as you probably have all you need already :)

This was the picture she showed me (I´m sorry for the blurr, but it was the best pic I could find):

maje spring summer 2011 lookbook 14022011 1 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

1. Start with a clean face and prep your eyes with a primer/base and apply a concealer underneath the eyes. I´ve used Mac Painterly paint pot and washed a little bit of Mac Blanc Type all over the lid and up to the brow to make it easier to blend and to get a nice even base on the brow bone. Then I used the YSL Touche Eclát under my eyes with the Benefit Powderflage powder on top to set the concealer (which is such a good combo for concealing dark circles btw!!)

IMG 6648 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

2. Line up your eyes along both the upper and the lower lash line with black, you don´t have to make it too even. You can use a gel liner or a pencil for this, I decided to use the Urban Decay 24/7 glide on pencil in Zero because it easily smudges out without losing the black colour. I just used my finger to smudge it out.

IMG 6650 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

IMG 6658 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

3. Fluff on some matte black eye shadow on top of the smudged eyeliner and blend it upwards untill it fades out. I used Mac Carbon and applied it with a Mac 217 brush.

IMG 6660 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

IMG 6661 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

4. Apply a matte reddish brown where the black starts to fade out and blend it up to the crease. You can blend it outwards to get a cateye effect, but I decided to go for a round shape as in the picture above. Normally it looks better with a round shape for big eyes and a cat eye for smaller eyes. Do the same underneath the eyes and blend it out quite far underneath the eye. I used Mac Swiss Chocolate and applied it with a Mac 217.

IMG 6671 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

IMG 6662 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

5. Apply mascara and you´re done with the eyes already! :) I decided to use a brown mascara as I think it gives a softer bed room touch to the look. The mascara I used is a big favorite of mine and it´s the Lancôme Hypnôse Precious Cells.

IMG 6761 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

IMG 6681 How to: Easy smokey eye in brown using few products :)

6. When you apply the foundation you´ll get a much better result around the eyes if you feather it on with a duo fibre brush like Mac 131/188. This makes the eyeshadow fade out evenly. I used a Mac 131 to apply the Mac Studio Sculpt foundation in Nc20. I also used the bronzer and highlighter of Pink Power from the Wonder Woman collection, the Mac Pinch O´Peach blush and my favorite lipgloss of the moment Emancipation which there will be a review of very soon.

I hope you´ve had a wonderful thursday sweeties!! <3

It´s saturday, I´m back in beautiful Monaco and life is good! As you all know I´m addicted to brown eyeshadows because it´s sofisticated, beautiful and goes with everything. However, sometimes plain brown can be a bit boring and since it´s saturday I decided to leave my comfort zone and do it with a twist.

brownpurple Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

1. As always we start with a base. I like both Urban Decay Primer Potion and MAC paint pot and since the paint pot was already in my little everyday makeup bag I decided to go for that in the color Painterly. Make sure you get it underneath your eye as well since there will be eyeshadow there as well ;) I also filled in my eyebrows at this point with a MAC 208 angled brush and MAC Coquette eyeshadow. ( I see I should´ve used a brow gel, but of corse I´ve misplaced it during the travelling )

IMG 38532 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

2. Dig through your makeup stash for the brightest blue you´ve got and place it like in the picture below. If your eyeshadow isn´t as vibrant as you wish you can try to put some MAC Fix+ or something similar on the brush before applying. I used a MAC 214 brush and MAC Freshwater eyeshadow.

IMG 3856 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

3. Now you need to find a warm burgundy/purple eyeshadow to place around it. I used a MAC 239 to apply MAC Satellite Dreams and some of the MAC Nocturnelle. Make sure you blend it out and into the blue. I used the Sigma E-25 blending brush.

IMG 3858 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

4. Now we can finally play with our dear brown eyeshadow. I chose MAC Mulch and applied it with a MAC 217 brush in the crease and blended it slightly outwards and into the purple.

IMG 3859 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

5. Since this look was about mixing it up a little, I was so crazy that I even used some glitter! I used the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Air Guitar which is a beautiful glitter in blue. I dabbed it lightly on top of the blue eyeshadow and dragged some into the purple as well. Sadly this doesn´t show up as much as I hoped on the picture.

IMG 3866 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

6. Then I applied gel liner along the upper lashline and pointing it out in the outer corner. I used Bobbi Brown in Black Ink.

IMG 3876 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist7. The undereye area needs some attention too, but I still think it should be kept rather simple since the focus is on the blue so I used the black 24/7 Zero eye liner from Urban Decay to draw a line halfway, and then smudged it out with some of the same brown eyeshadow I used earlier (MAC Mulch) to create a smokey effect. Make sure the lines meets the in the outer corner of the eye.IMG 3879 Makeup tutorial brown with a twist

8. Nearly finished now. I just popped on some falsies and slapped on a coat of mascara (and some more gel liner) to finish off. Voilá!

Hilary Duff is a beautiful girl, and her makeup is amazing! When I saw this picture, i wanted to try out her look too..

Hilary Duff RegisKelly Hilary Duff Makeup how to

Here is my little guide to how to get the look:

makeuphowto1 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

1. Start with a base/primer to make sure all that smokey brown loveleyness stays in place. I like to use Urban Decay Primer Potion or MAC Paintpot in Painterly and just grap the first one of them I see, today it was the paintpot. I put it all over the and some underneath the eye since there will be some eyeshadow there as well.

macvsud Hilary Duff Makeup how to

IMG 3758 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

2. The next step was to find a very light warm brown and none of my eyeshadows that I had with me to London were really light enough, so I used the Guerlain 4 Season matte sunpowder instead and it worked wonderfully so if you don´t have a very light brown eyeshadow either I´m sure you can use your sunpowder ;) Yay for multi-purpose products!!

4 SEASONS Hilary Duff Makeup how to

Anyway, I put this shadow in the crease in a round shape instead of outwards in a cat eye shape. This opens up the eye more and is especially flattering if you have quite small eyes. Remember to blend a lot so that we get a nice gradation. I used MAC 217 brush.

IMG 3762 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

3. Hilary has put a beautiful reddish brown underneath her eye in a quite thick line. I used MAC Handwritten with a MAC 219 brush and smoked it out with a clean MAC 217 brush. Note that the line goes pretty far out on the outer corner of her eye.

IMG 3766 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

4. The shadow looks like a mix of browns and silver. I used MAC Satin Taupe over the eyelid to get a sultry frosty finish, if you don´t have Satin Taupe you can use another silvery brownish frosty eyeshadow. I used MAC 239 to lightly pack on the color and blended it into the light brown in the crease with a MAC 217 brush. Then I used MAC Knight Divine which is a beautiful dark silver and blended it in on the outer corner to get a pop of silver.

IMG 3780 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

IMG 3784 Hilary Duff Makeup how to

5.  To open the eyes even more I used Shu Uemura falsies with Duo glue. Then I lined up the upper lashline with MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack and mascara on the eyelashes. Hilary also have wonderful eyebrows, I used MAC coquette eyeshadow as eyebrow color with a MAC 208 small angled brush. To finish of I used a MAC 224 fluffy brush to fluff on some shroom to the browbone to lift the eyebrows.

Now I have to run to the airport, at least I´m  looking a little bit more glamorous than usual ;) We´re finally heading back home to Monaco today and I have a feeling it´s going to be weird to be back since I haven´t been there since the beginning og december. Reunion with my makeup whoa!! :)
