squares2 Top 5 beauty products

It’s Sunday again, which means beauty chit-chatting :) Last Sunday I told you about my favourite concealer, and today I give you 5 products I simply can’t live without:

Untitled 2 Top 5 beauty products

Kérastase Forcintense – hair treatment // Maybelline Eyestudio – gel liner // St.Tropez Self tan Mousse // St.Tropez Everyday Gradual self tan // Philip Kingsley Elasticizer - pre shampoo treatment

(Read more about the Kerastase hair mask and the St.Tropez selftan here, and read more about the Philip Kinglsey elasticizer treatment here)

What are your “5 can’t-live-without-products”?

EDIT: In hindsight it was a very misleading title of the post today.. I could never manage to squeeze in only 5 products on my top list, I have gone through so many other products in my head which are equally as important to me as these. I will give you a new “favourites-post” next Sunday ;)

I often get questions about what skincare products I use and comments about how lucky I am to have such nice skin. This always surprises me so much! My skin is full of scars from years of bad acne and I still get some break outs now and then if I’ve been stresses, not eaten right or consumed alcohol etc. I have a secret weapon for this which I don’t think I have shared with you simply because it’s less exciting than a colourful eyeshadow or lipstick and although you can’t see the beauty of it through a swatch you just have to trust me on this one.

My absolute favourite product that I can not live without must be my concealer. I’ve used the same brand for about two years, and even though I must admit I have tried others in between I always come back to this. It’s the Glo Minerals Camouflage oil-free concealer I’m talking about. It’s always with me in my handbag no matter where I go so it’s a bit scruffy looking but I guess that’s just a sign of love <3

IMG 9966 Favourite makeup products #1

Why do I love it?

The reason why this is kept tightly to my chest is first of all because it dries out my spots rather than causing new break outs which scores massive amounts of gold stars in my book. Furthermore I love the creamy light concistency which (surprisingly since it’s oil-free) is quite oily velvety which means that it melts straight into my skin and covers nicely without looking cakey or cause flaking on dry spots. Dont worry, it’s not shiny or anything.

shades Favourite makeup products #1

I don’t have any bad words about it other than I wish there were more shades to choose from. Most months of the year I use the shade Natural, but in the summer months I mix it with Golden Honey depending on how tanned I am. Having the right shade is the most important thing when it comes to concealers! Many people seem to think a concealer should be lighter than your own skin, but that’s not true. It needs to be the exact same colour!

How do I use it?

To cover spots I like to take a small amount on a finger and just dab it lightly on top of the spot. The reason why I use a finger rather than a brush is because the warmth of my finger helps the concealer melt into the skin. Fight the urge to smear it, you will get a much better result if you take the extra three seconds to dab. To make sure it stays all day I pat on some loose powder on top to seal it, and go back adding another thin layer on top of that which I again seal with powder.  I normally add about two-three thin layers. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t.

Before and after (can’t believe I’m doing this):

skin Favourite makeup products #1

“Fortunately” my skin has acted up quite badly so I can show you a before and after. The texture of the skin is unfortuantely impossible to mask with makeup, but the redness is completely gone and it stays like that for hours and hours while drying out the spots at the same time. What more can you want from a concealer?

I found mine here, and right now it’s on sale!! Yay :D

A reader asked me to do another “What’s in my travel makeup bag post” as it has been such a long time since the last post regarding this so I decided to do one very quickly last night so that you could have something fun to read while I’m driving to Sweden. Can’t say I’m looking forward to the drive as it’s so much wind that even the ferry sailings are cancelled. Please ignore the quality of the pictures ;)

IMG 1219 Whats in my travel makeup bag

Sigma SS134 – A big and fluffy brush which I like to apply powder with.
Sigma SS168 – An angled brush for applying blush .
Sigma SS165 – A small tapered brush which I use for contouring.
Mac 139 – I like to use this for highlighting.
Bobbi Brown blending brush – No other brush does the job og applying Benefit powderflage under the eyes like this one.
Bobbi Brown small angled brush – Love this brush for applying shadow to my brows.
Sigma E25 – Similar to Macs 217, the perfect blending brush which I always use no matter what makeup I’m applying.
A mascara wand from a Dior Blackout mascara- Perfect for combing through the brows to get a natural finish after having applied shadow.

IMG 12201 Whats in my travel makeup bag

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast – I use this as a primer on very dry skin and dried out spots to avoid a flaky finish to my faoundation. It gives a nice finish at the same time as it’s good for the skin. Yay!
Smashbox photofinish primer – I used picked up the first primer I saw which was this one. I like it, butI’m still searching for a better one.
BRTC BB Cream – Totally loving this stuff, review will come once I’m sure my skin is ok with it ;)
Kanebo Sensai Fluid finish in 203 – A really nice foundation which doesn’t break me out, I just wish they could produce more shades.
Nars Sheer Glow in Fiji – A foundation that covers really well, feels great and looks beautiful on the skin.

IMG 1221 Whats in my travel makeup bag

Mac LE msf in Lightscapade – A beautiful highlighter which is beautiful on winter pale skin (whilst Dior Amber Diamond is a beauty on tanned skin).
Mac msf natural –  This powder is a little bit pale for me still, but somehow this was the powder that I packed with me. Too pale is better than too dark after all.
Chanel blush in Reflex – A pretty peachy pink blush with gold reflects.
Nars blush in Orgasm – When nothing else seems to work, this always picks me up :)
Nars blush in Dolce Vita – I love this blush for accentuating the cheek bones. Beautiful on nights out!
Nyx blush in Taupe – This is my favourite product for contouring. Love, love, love this!!!

IMG 1225 Whats in my travel makeup bag

YSL Touche Eclat – I use this miracle pen under my eyes, along the bridge of my nose and above my upper lip.
Benefit Powderflage – I use this powder to set the concealer under my eyes to avoid creasing,
Mac Studio Finish nc20 – I use this on imperfections in my oilier parts of the face as it is slightly drier than most concealers.
Mac Studio Sculpt nc20 – I use this on imperfections in drier areas of my face.
Mac Moisturecover nw15 – I use this under my eyes if I have some serious dark cicles to get rid off. I also quite like to use it under my brows.

IMG 1223 Whats in my travel makeup bag

Lancôme Hypnôse Precious cells in brown – The perfect mascara for my lashes. I love the wand!!
Mac brow set in Beguile – Hairs I did not know I had suddenly appears making my sparse brows look fuller.
Mac brow pen in Dirty Blonde – I don’t really use this anymore, but it’s with me just in case.
Mac eyeshadow in Coquette – My go to eyeshadow for brows.
Mac eyeshadows: Brule, Dazzlelight, Cork and Espresso. Works for both day and night :)
Mac painterly paintpot – A cream base to keep the shadows in place
Loreal Super Liner – A really good and cheap liquid liner :)

IMG 1222 Whats in my travel makeup bag

YSL in #2 – Very pale on it’s own, but I like to use it underneath a creampuff to get a nicer concistency
Chanel in Aventure – Pretty pink colour.
Chanel #15 – My all time favourite lipgloss which has been taken out of production. Thank God I bought all I found when I heard it was going out :)
Collection 2000 Creampuffs – Really mousse like lipglosses with a matte result. Can be a bit drying.
Mac Bombshell – A very pretty sheer pink.

It’s been a really long time since I did a “favourites of the month post”, the reason simply being that I stuck to using the same few products over the summer which is rather uninspiring to read about. Now that Autumn has come (and flown by like a gust of wind) I thought I’d share my Autumn favourites with you before I throw my self at all the glitter Christmas brings :D

I’ve kept my skin very natural this season, as I had some skin trouble from the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation to get rid of, which is why I haven’t included any foundation or concealers. The skin seems quite happy about it, we’ll see how it goes when Nars Sheer Glow comes along for Christmas ;)

IMG 3358 Favourites of the month (or shall we say Autumn)

Cream blush on the cheeks gives such a beautiful and healthy glow to the face when the skin is so natural. My favourite cream blush is from Make Up For Ever in #5. It’s amazing how long lasting this stuff is as you really just need the tiniest amount!

On nights out I’ve used Nars Dolce Vita which is gorgeous just below the cheek bones and blended upwards. It’s the blush I used in the review of the Tom Ford products which I got so many questions about.

IMG 3356 Favourites of the month (or shall we say Autumn)To get an even healthier glow I’ve been indulging in all kinds of highlighters and I have been loving it!! High Beam from Benefit is beautiful on top of the cheek bones to get that illusion of beautiful high cheek bones, and because it is a cream it works really well with the cream blush as they blend easily into each other making it all look very natural and fresh :) Together with the Nars Dolce Vita blush I’ve used the Mac mineralize skinfinish in Lightscapade which gives the most gorgeous glow I’ve seen in a powder highlighter.

In the daytime I’ve even been using the Jemma Kidd All over Radience Creme which gives a beautiful glow all over without making you look like a disco ball. It really makes me look like a person who only eats vegetables and gets plenty of beauty rest :D Last but not least, YSL Touche Eclat. Do I need to say more? I’m guessing you’ve all heard about it before. I love using it under the eyes to brighten the undereye area and on the brow bone if I feel too lazy to slap on eyeshadow ;) It also gives a pretty effect if used along the upper lip to get that hot Bridgette Bardot pout.

IMG 3361 Favourites of the month (or shall we say Autumn)

I’ve been using quite a lot of colour on my brows because of the all over natural look I’ve been sporting and I’m absolutely loving the Brow Set in Beguile, This stuff is magic! I’m suddenly having lots of little hairs I wasn’t aware of which makes it so much easier to get those full eyebrows I’ve always wanted, and at the same time the cream makes them stay in place. To fill in the sparse areas I’ve been using some of the Mac eyeshadow in Coquette. On my eyes I’ve used the Lancôme Hypnôse Precious Cells in #2 brown which is my all time favourite mascara, and some of the amazing Maybelline gel liner along the lash line for a Olivia Palermo/Bambi eye effect :)

IMG 3355 Favourites of the month (or shall we say Autumn)

I’m so happy with my hair regime right now!! My hair is stronger than ever and it’s finally growing without any split ends – yay :D I’m using a pre shampoo treatment (review here), an organic reconstructing shampoo, an organic reconstructing treatment, an organic scalp/volumising treament and finally an oil treatment for the ends.

I would love it if you would share your favourites in the comment section, maybe we can all find a new favourite product :)

start CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

On my way to Norway I came across these beauties from Chanel. I had promised myself that I wouldn’t buy any of them as I really don’t need any new lipsticks, but something drove me towards them and as soon as I had one of them in my hands I was sold – I had to have at least one! I tricked myself with the line that lipsticks are acutally an inexpensive and fast way to look fresh and beautiful, so I should I have one. There were four shades that seemed interesting, Boy, Chance, Evasion and Aventure, I chose Chance. Whilst I was in Norway I used Chance everyday, everywhere I went! My mom even asked me if I had done something with my lips so when I told her it was just a lipstick she was all over it!

IMG 96521 CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

Chanel says: “ROUGE COCO SHINE Hydrating Sheer Lipshine provides lasting moisturizing shine in a water-light texture. The formula glides on for easy application, and a unique HYDRATENDRE complex hydrates and softens lips, giving them a healthier and fuller appearance. Available in a complete range of shades, from delicate beiges to dazzling berries, with a hint of shimmer to enhance a glossy finish.” – and a fuller appearance I did indeed get :)

chance mirror CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

I would describe the shade as a milky pale girly pink with a cold undertone. If layered once you’ll get a nice wash of shiny colour whilst if you layer it again you’ll get a brighter pink. It is the kind of pink that goes well with big sunglasses, volumized hair and a nice pair of shoes and suits younger girls, a babe colour if you like ;) It’s not the normal colour I’d wear, and I actually don’t own anything else like it, but I really love it for the summer!!

IMG 9646 CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

Aventure is a smidgen darker in a warmer undertone with gold sparkle. A really beautiful pink colour which I think I might be using all year round!

As for the consistency I think it’s very moisturising and lip plumping, the colour is pretty long wearing as well – I just wish the gloss would stay longer than it does. After about two hours you need to reapply, personally I’m not particularly troubled by this as the packaging is so beautiful that it makes me incredibly happy to hold it in my hand now and then ;)

fav june Favorite products of the month: June 11

This month has gone by so incredibly quickly!! Why is it that it’s always the summer months that goes fast and not the winter months? During June I’ve found myself going for the “No Makeup- makeup” quite often which is very much reflected on the products. There are a couple of things that I’m still loving from May like hair products and products for feet and hands so I’m not listing those again, if you want to read about them you can click here. Let’s dive into it :)

nail polishes1 Favorite products of the month: June 11

Beige Petal from Chanel is surprisingly the nail polish I’ve been using more than any. I say surprisingly because it looks quite dull in the bottle at first glanze while in reality it’s a manicure in a bottle. Two coats of this and my nails look like I’ve spent two hours in the nail salon! It annoyes me so much that this polish has gotten so many negative reviews because people think that it’s supposed to be an opaque nude, but that isn’t the purpose of it! I’ve also had some fun with pairing jewellery with my nails in bright colours like Orange Fizz. So much fun for a silly makeup addict :)

eye shadows Favorite products of the month: June 11

As I mentioned above I’ve been wearing No-Makeup makeup a lot in the daytime but at night time I’ve been reaching for my favorite palette, the Naked palette from Urban Decay. My favorite shadows are probably Virgin, Sin, Naked, Buck, Half Baked, Smog, Dark Horse.. ehm, well I think all of them except for Sidecar and Hustle are my favorites, not that those two are bad I just like them less I guess. If you don’t already have this palette, you NEED it!

base products1 Favorite products of the month: June 11

For No-Makeup makeup the base is the most important part. For the daytime I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser in Nude, Eve Pearl Dual Salmon concealer in light/medium under my eyes (review is coming), Mac painterly paint pot on the lids and Mac msf in Medium in the t-zone before I splash on the blush, highlighter and bronzer which are featured below. The Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Fiji and Urban Decay primer potion are being used for the night time. Nars Sheer Glow is my all time favorite foundation! The cover you get is amazing while your skin still look like skin and it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a mask like with other full coverage foundations. I also like that it’s buildable which makes it easy to cover up better where it’s needed while not using much where you don’t need it. There is no point in covering up nice skin :)

makeup Favorite products of the month: June 11

For the No-Makeup makeup look cream blushers are amazing because they melt into the skin and give you that true blushed look. I like to use Mac Lilicent which is a beautiful peach and sometimes I blend in a bit of Make Up Forever HD cream blush in #5.

Bronzer is also needed and I love the Guerlain 4 Seasons in Brunettes for contouring/shading purposes with a little bit of help from the Nyx Taupe blush (which I need to fix or buy another one of, knowing myself I’ll probably just buy another one) and the Sierra Bronzer from Chanel to have some glowy bronze going on. As a highlighter I’ve been using the Guerlain gold pot (don’t know the name) as I think gold looks so beautiful on tanned skin!

As always I use the Mac eye shadow Omega on my brows – the perfect shade for blonds! Since eye lashes gets sun and salt water damaged I like to use the Lancôme mascara Precious Cells in Brown (yes, my precious) which treats the lashes with some good stuff, I actally really like the wand as well!

make up brushes Favorite products of the month: June 11

I tried to pick ten favorites but I couldn’t..

  1. Sigma SS168 – For bronzing
  2. Mac 116 – For powder in the t-zone
  3. Inglot 6SS – For Benefit Powderflage which I’ve forgotten to mention… oops!
  4. Sigma SS222 – For transition eye shadows like Naked in the crease
  5. Sigma SS 224 – For applying shadows to the brow bone
  6. Sigma E25 – For blending
  7. Sigma E50 – For applying shadow to the lid
  8. Mac 239 – For applying shadow to the lid
  9. Sigma E45 – For precision in the crease like Buck
  10. Sigma SS219 – For applying shadow to the outer corner/ inner corner / underneath the eye
  11. Mac 214 – For smudging gel liner
  12. Mac 208 – For applying shadow to the brows
  13. Inglot 30T – For applying a thin line of gel liner (the fact that it’s bent makes it much easier!!)

What are your favorite products? Write a link to your blog if you’ve done the same post :)

When I look upon my favorites it hits me how fed up I´ve been with the dark colours of winter which must be the reason why I have subcounciously thrown myself into the summer look with bright colours on the nails, natural makeup and nourished hair and feet!!

IMG 81511 Favorite products of May 11

Shu Uemura Essence Absolue - Hair oil // Kérastase Voile Nuit – Night treatment // Kérastase Elixir Ultime – Hair oil // John Masters Organic Treatment – Scalp treatment

I love hair oils and I like to mix the Shu Uemura-oil and the Kérastase-oil although I´m sure it´s enough to use only one of them but I like to use both just in case one or the other contain some good stuff that the other doesn´t have ;) Before I go to bed I spray my hair with the Kérastase Voile Nuit which nourishes the hair while sleeping and makes it super soft in the morning and tangle free. John Masters Organic Treatment is a scalp treatment that I spray onto the scalp after washing my hair to nourish my sensitive scalp. The fact that it gives me incredible volume doesn´t hurt either :)

IMG 81541 Favorite products of May 11

Alexander Sprekenhus Argan Oil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

These products are from a new norwegian brand and I received the products not long ago. I was thinking about putting some other hair products in here since I havn´t used the products long enough to really justify them being may favorites but I just couldn´t get myself to do it because I really love these products both for the amazing softness I get and for the wonderful smell. I think I will write a review about them soon :)

IMG 81561 Favorite products of May 11

Thalgo Gel for feather-light Legs – Cooling and Decongesting gel // OPI Royal Verbana Scrub – Foot and hand scrub
L´Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream // L´Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream

Neat and pretty feet are a must when going to the beach. I prefer to have someone else do my feet but obviously I need to do them myself once in a while and when I do I like to use the OPI Royal Verbena scrub on feet and hands for super soft and moistened skin. For periods with very dry skin I like to soak my hands and feet in cream and wear socks and mittens on top overnight to really let the cream soak into the skin.

After a long night on heels there are few things that feels as good as layering on some gel from Thalgo which gives a cool sensation that immediately relieves painful, tired legs! Every girl on heels needs this!

IMG 8166 Favorite products of May 11

The nail polishes I´ve used the most frequently on my fingertips are all from Chanel´s spring and summer collections while it is the beautiful bright pink Strawberry Margarita from OPI that has reigned on the toes.

IMG 81681 Favorite products of May 11

Aura by Swarovski Bodylotion // Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb // Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose

Flowerbomb has been a long time favorite and it still is and not surprisingly I really love the slightly more tangy Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose as well.  However, the star of the month is neither of them as I have completely fallen for a newcomer, the amazing Aura by Swarovski which my dear and sweet mum gave me when I was home In Norway. To be precise it is the bodylotion from Aura by Swarovski that has caught my eye and I have had several people sniffing me wondering what perfume I´m wearing each time I´ve used this wonderful bodylotion. Not only does it smell fantastic but it gives the most beautiful shimmer to the skin as well, hence the diamond. I´m in love, thank you so much my sweet and thoughtful mummy!! (Yes, my mum really is the best!!)

IMG 81711 Favorite products of May 11

IMG 8174 Favorite products of May 11

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre i 30 Naturel – loose powder // Chanel Bronzer in 22 Sierra // Chanel Eyeshadow Quad in Lilium from the summer collection -11
Mac e/s Omega // Mac e/s Coquette // Bobbi Brown Black Ink gel liner // Mac Paint Pot in Painterly // Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude

In the summer I like to keep my skin natural but still even and beautiful looking and this is where Laura Mercier reigns! Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer covers incredibly well at the same time as it feels light on the skin. Personally I would rather describe it as a light weight foundation because you´ll need a moisturizer underneath it but the coverage is really wonderful and I don´t need a concealer when I use it.

After I´ve let the cream settle I use a tiny bit of the loose powder from chanel in my t-sone to mattify this area and then I use some glowing bronzer to give some life to the skin. Omega and Coquette are both used as colours for the eyebrows but I sometimes use them as eyeshadows as well although it is the Chanel quad Lilium from the summer collection that has been used more frequently than any other eyeshadow this month.

IMG 81791 Favorite products of May 11

Mac 208 // Sigma E20 (SS 214) // Sigma E15 (SS 212) // Sigma E30 ( SS 219) // Sigma E25 (SS 217) // Sigma E40 (SS 224) // Sigma F05 (SS 165) // Sigma F10 (SS 129) // Sigma F40 (SS 168) // Sigma F50 (SS 187)

Makeup brushes are just as important and this is what I´ve used this months favorite brushes for this month:

  1. Mac 208 – eyebrows
  2. Sigma E20 – smudge the gel liner for a smokey effect or a pop of colour
  3. Sigma E15 – line the gel liner
  4. Sigma E30 – place shadow in the outer corner and underneath the eye
  5. Sigma E25 – my favorite! I´ve used it for both placing eyeshadow and blending
  6. Sigma E40 – highlighting the brow bone and inner conrer of the eye as well as blending
  7. Sigma F05 – highlight the cheek bone or contour the cheek bone with a darker shade underneath the cheek bone
  8. Sigma F10 – powder in the t-sone
  9. Sigma F40 – bronzer
  10. Sigma F50 – blush
  11. Cleanser! How could I forget, I´ve used the brush cleanser from Mac quite a lot as well as it´s great to dry clean the brushes if you are in a hurry or use a different blush every day!

I think these are all of my favorites this month. I didn´t include the skin care products from Oenothera/Kremfresh as I think you´ve gotten the point by now ;)

What products are your favorites from May? If you have a blog I would love it if you also made a post like this and dropped me the link below :)

I just got a newsletter from my favorite online store for eyelashes, MadameMadeline.com, which I have forgotten to mention in The Big Online Shopping Guide!! The prices are really cheap and the more you buy the cheaper it gets, I normally do big orders once in a while to stock up. As they are having a discount coupon code sale at the moment I thought I´d share the code with you and I´ll add the store to The Big Shopping Guide as soon as possible. These are some of the products I just clicked home to me, got to love the names:

Each of these lashes costs $3.49 US which is a bargain compared to the lashes from other brands. Ardell lahses are my favorites because the band is nearly invisible, hence the name InvisiBands, which makes them a lot mare natural looking and easy to apply. The glue retails at $5.89 US which is less than half the price of the same glue from the Mac counter in the UK which is £10 (£10 equals about $16.45 US) BARGAIN!! :D

It´s a subscribers only code, but don´t worry they won´t terrorise you with newsletters all the time, hence me forgetting to put the store into The Big Shopping Guide. Go to MadameMadeline.com and subscribe, put some goodies into your basket and fill in the code GLAM15 at checkout. This gives you 15% off :) Offer expires on July 04, 2011.

I love falsies as they can do so much with your appearance, transforming tired and saggy looking eyes into eye gazing hotness :) In the pictures below I´m using Ardell Fashion Lashes #105.

Tonight I´m off to a Grand Prix event on a boat in the harbour and I can´t decide which dress to wear and what shoes to wear with it. I´m drawn between an Alexander McQueen dress and a Elise Ryan dress.. decisions decisions. I guess that´s what they call champagne problems ;)

Have you heard about Madame Madline and do you use false lashes?

innkjøp og sminke 012 April Favourites: everyday makeup with a trick

Some of you have asked me which products are my favourites for everyday makeup and these are the products I keep finding myself reaching for!

Face:

  • Kanebo Sensai Smoothing Water Makeup Base (a ridiculously long name for a primer don’t you think?)
  • Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in Nude which is a little bit too light now so I’m on the hunt for a darker shade
  • Shiseido mattifying powder in 10 Light Ivory which I suspect is also a little bit too light now so I just use it on the center of my face
  • Guerlain 4 seasons terracotta matte bronzer in brunettes 02
  • Mac blush in Gingerly
  • Nars blush in Deep Throat

Eyes:

  • Mac paint pot in Painterly
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Mac fluidline in Blacktrack
  • Chanel eyeshadow quad Lilium – I love the green!!
  • Mac Omega eyeshadow for brows
  • Benefit Speed Brows to set brows
  • It’s very new still but I am incredibly intrigued by the new rotating mascara from Dior
  • A clean mascara brush from the Dior Blackout mascara

A couple of things I’ve forgotten in the picture because they live in my handbag hehe ;)

  • YSL Touche Eclát
  • Mac liptint
  • Chanel glossimer in Super
  • Mac Studio Sculpt concealer in NC20

The trick I’ve come to love is to slap on some gel liner along the upper lash line in a quite thick line which doesn’t need to be perfect. I then take the 239 brush with an eyeshadow I like and smudge the gel line. This creates a perfect soft line with a subtle sheen of colour. I do the same in the outer corner of the lower lash line as well and then drag the lines slightly outwards to give an illusion of bigger eyes. This is really easy and done in just a few minutes.

As for the face I like to create some contours using the light powder on the center of my face and the matte bronzer along the outer corners and underneath the cheek bones. To get that  healthy flush I like to use two blushes – first an orangy toned on the apples and then a splash of a pinky peach on the cheekbone. I add some Touche Eclát underneath the eyes to brighten the under eye area and apply concealer wherever it’s needed. Sometimes I add a little bit of highlighter to cheekbones, browbone ++ depending on where I’m going ;) Because I am always running late I apply liptint and lipgloss in the elevator – very effective in terms of time and there’s nothing else to do in there anyway ;)

This is more than I would use on the beach in Monaco or Dubai but it’s perfect for the city life in London or for going shopping in Nice! I like it because it’s very easy and only takes a few minutes which is always a good thing in the morning ;) I also like the illusion of bigger eyes… who doesn’t? ;)

I will do a tutorial on how to contour the face but is the rest of the look something you want a tutorial for as well or do you cupcakes have any other ideas? I haven’t done a tutorial for a really long time and I can’t wait to get going again so please tell me what you want sweeties! :) xx

Falsies are someting a lot of girls I know avoid using because they are scared of ending up looking like a drag queen. Most of them also feel that it´s way too difficult and takes up a lot of time. The mistake a lot of girls make is to buy cheap and bad quality falsies and glue, or falsies with the wrong shape for their eyes. You can easily use falsies without anyone noticing, it´s all in the quality, length and shape you choose. If you are one of the sweeties that tend to avoid them after that one time when it all went wrong then you might want to reconsider. False eyelashes doesn´t nessessarily mean eyelashes up to your eyebrows you know. Try it out whenever you are home and have nothing to do. There´s nothing wrong with some everyday glamour ;)

Which brands are safe?

I´m not saying that all eyelashes you can buy cheap in superdrugs are bad, but a lot of them are. If you haven´t heard of Ardell lashes before you should definitely check them out! Ardell lashes are relatively cheap and are good quality. They have a lot of different shapes and lengths as well so it shouldn´t be a problem to get the right shape for YOU. Mac has a large variaty of lashes as well although these tend to be a bit more expensive and not as easy to apply as the Ardell lashes. If you are looking for something special you should check out Shu Uemura´s eyelashes as these are truly something else. Shu Uemura have both normal and exotic lashes.

What shape?

False eyelashes that all have the same length will look more fake than the spikey/wispie ones. I prefer wispies as these blend in naturally with your own eyelashes and are a bit crossed like your own. If you are looking for a natural finish you should also stay away from the ones that are a lot longer in the outer corner. The spikey eyelashes also blend in quite naturally with your own lashes as long as they are not too long next to your own.

What length?

For natural looking lashes you should go just a little bit longer than your own. A key rule is basically the bigger your eyes, the longer lashes you can have. If you have very small eyes you should be careful with false eyelashes, but there are plenty made for you as well ;)

What eyelash adhesive to choose?

There is only one eyelash adhesive rocking my world and that is the famous Duo eyelash adhesive. It holds the lashes in place all night and comes easily off whenever you want it to without ripping out your own eyelashes. It´s even waterproof!

How to apply?

There are lots of different ways of applying false lashes, but I like to start with painting the band that the lashes stick to in black with a gel/liquid eyeliner. If it´s the first time you use this particular pair of lashes you should check if the length of the band fits your lashline, if not you should cut it so that it fits. Always cut it on the outer corners. Another great trick is to apply eyeliner just along the lashline before you apply the lashes to make sure you don´t get any empty space between the eye and the lashes.

Then I squeeze out some glue onto my hand and apply a thin line along the lash with a little bit extra on each end. I then wait approximately 30 seconds for the glue to become sticky. If you apply them when the glue is still too liquidy it will be more difficult as they will be more likely to move from where you want them to stay.

When the glue is sticky I pick up the lashes with a tweezer and start by applying them to the outer corner so that my outer corner meets the outer corner of the lashes to avoid the lash getting too close to the inner corner. When they are located where I want them I make sure that the whole band is straight and along the lash line and that none of the ends are loose. Wait a couple of minutes before applying mascara/eyeliner so that you are sure the glue is dry. Even though I´ve already painted the band black I always go over it once again with an eyeliner to make sure that the band is well hidden. Voilá :)

I get my Ardell lashes from Madame Madeline :)

I have decided to do a series of posts about my favorite products of the moment and I am going to start with my everyday makeup favorites. I prefer a natural look for every day and then I can slap more onto my face on the weekends. So these are the products I´m loving right now:

If there is any one type of product I am addicted to it´s concealers. And it is these three that are my go to´s and that I always carry with me everywhere:

Natural is a little bit too light for me, so I blend it with a little bit of the Golden Honey to get my exact skin tone. If I have any redness I conceal it with the yellow color from the Cover All Mix. For under the eye I use the salmon colored part of the Cover All Mix to conceal any darkness, and to set the under the eye concealer I lightly brush some of the Benefit Powderflage over it which also gives it a light reflecting effect.

Instead of using a heavy foundation I love the tinted moisturizer from Chanel. It gives me a beautiful color at the same time as giving lots of moisture.

And then I set the tinted moisturizer with some powder, dust a little of sunpowder on top and finish off with a splash of a healthy looking blush:

Eyebrows are important when not using much around the eyes and now I have eyelash extensions I don´t use a mascara.
