IMG 6230 Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review & Swatches

The first Naked palette from Urban Decay was sold out for months, and quickly became the worlds best selling eyeshadow palette of all time (if you haven’t seen my review of the first palette, you can see it here). Needless to say that this palette has been highly anticipated :)

IMG 6564 Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review & Swatches

The first four shades are warm, the next four are neutral shades and the last four are cooler shades.

IMG 6571 Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review & Swatches

You get 12 matte and shimmery neutral eyeshadow of which 5 shades are brand new. The palette also comes with a full size shadow/crease brush and a mini Lip Junkie Lipgloss in the pinky-brown shade Naked. On first glance it seemed that this palette was divided into one half of warm tones, and one half of cool tones which I think is very clever as the last palette was very warm and golden.

Now it’s time to get Naked! :D

  1. Foxy: The perfect matte nude shade. I love using it to blend out colours on the lid to get an even transistion up to the brow bone for a perfect smokey eye.
  2. Half Baked: This shadow was included in the last Naked palette too, but I think it’s ok because it’s a beautiful golden colour.
  3. Bootycall: The ridiculous name aside, this light shimmery pink is so lovely in the inner corners of the eyes to really brighten the eyes. NEW!
  4. Chopper: This is a coppery shadow with chunky silver glitter. Similar texture to Sidecar, which means lots of fall out. The colour is absolutely stunning though.

  1. Tease: The second of the three matte shades in the palette. This is a slightly more darker and reddish shade than the browns in the last palette. It’s a must have for green eyed girls. NEW!
  2. Snakebite: A beautiful golden brown shade. Personally I think this is one of the prettiest shades. NEW!
  3. Suspect: This is also a really pretty shade. It’s kind of like a topey shimmery shade. I love it!
  4. Pistol: A very interesting brownish silver, also a favourite of mine! Because of the duo effect I think it would be really pretty even just on its own.

  1. Verve: A silvery pinky highlight colour. Probably the one I like the least.
  2. YDK: A cool shimmery bronze, beautiful!
  3. Busted: A dark shimmery plummy brown, the perfect smokey eye colour for green eyes. NEW!
  4. Blackout: Finally! The star of the palette. Every palette should have a matte black that applies as dark as you want it. LOVE!
IMG 6250 Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 Review & Swatches
The flat brush is the same as the one in the previous palette. The fluffy brush is very similar to Mac 222 in shape. Quality wise it’s not my cup of tea.

What I like:

I like that it contains both shimmery and matte shades. I’m especially fond of the nude, Foxy, and the black, Blackout. I also like that there are both cool and warm shades. As for the packaging I’m jumping up and down for the fact that they’ve changed the horrible velour packaging they used for the last palette, to this tin case. It’s much easier to keep it clean this way! The big mirror inside is also a major improvement. As for the double sided brush I think it’s a nice touch as opposed to the single flat brush they included in the second edition of the first palette. Being able to blend the colours properly is so important for a nice finish.

What I don’t like:

Not much to be honest. If anything I would prefer it if they included the darker matte brown, Buck, in this palette too. A warm matte brown is always a good shade to have. I’m also a bit sad that they have replaced the primer for a lipgloss as a primer makes so much more sense, especially if you haven’t used a primer before.

Do you need this if you already have the first Naked palette?

The first Naked palette has a few shades (mainly the matte browns) that I can not live without. However, this palette also have a few shades that I’ve been missing in the first palette. I’m clearly talking about the matte nude and the matte black, but the there are also a few others that I really love (Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol and Busted). I think the palettes complement eachother so well as there are several shades that are so beautiful together. If you’re only getting one, get this one. If you already have the previous palette, get this one if you prefer cooler shades, if you travel a lot or if you’re just a hopeless makeup addict like myself :)

I got mine from BeautyBay

IMG 0654 Review Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation

- Your skin but better.

I got this when I was in London because I wanted to try some drugstore products and chose this amongst other because of having read great reviews of it in the past. The first time I tried it I was quite surprised by how healthy it made my skin look. It’s not thick or cakey, not shimmery, not oily.. it’s simply your skin but better. What I didn’t like as much was the smell, a very artificial fruity scent.

I kept using it thinking I had found my HG foundation and was just about to write a review about it when I started to notice little bumps in my skin. I have suffered from acne in the past so I’m very particular on what I use in my face, and pay close attention whenever I try out something new. Because I liked this so much I wanted to think it was the liquorice I ate that made my skin break out and kept using it for a little while longer, but my skin only got worse.

Now that I have stopped using it I can see that my skin looks better, but I still have a lot of break outs left to deal with because of it. I’ve read lots of reviews from people that haven’t had their skin break out so I guess it contains something that only certain people react to.

So, my conviction is that it’s the perfect finish of a foundation, but if your skin is acne-prone you should stay away as it might break you out like it did to me.

Have you tried this foundation? What’s your favorite?

I made a pact with my self that I’m not allowed to buy more make up for a while as I absolutely don’t need any more. That was untill I saw the Mac me over collection from Mac. Such an amazing collection!! So instead of going crazy and buy the whole collection like I normally do, I chose to only buy a couple of things.

Wow, I’m such a liar. Me choosing to buy only a couple of things isn’t true at all, it is what I tell my self to feel good about my self. The truth is that James went straight to London the morning after we came back home to Monaco from Beirut. When he was at the airport he called me to ask if there was anything I wanted from Mac (cute right??) and because I didn’t have much time on me I just yapped out the names of the products I could remember right there and then. Which was these:

IMG 0233 Mac me over goodies

Stunner blush, Dark Envy fluidline and Avenue fluidline

IMG 0236 Mac me over goodies

IMG 0241 Mac me over goodies

IMG 0238 Mac me over goodies

IMG 0239 Mac me over goodies

IMG 0243 Mac me over goodies

Now having thought about it and gone thoroughly through the collection online there is a couple of items I hate my self for forgetting, like these…

mac equile Mac me over goodiesBlush Equilibrium – A soft light bronzey blush with no shimmer or glitter…

226 Mac me over goodies

Brush 226 – The perfect blending brush for the crease which has been off the market for years..

I guess the saying “there is a reason for everything” counts in the situations where things don’t magically end up in my bag as well as the situations where things do magically end up in my possession.. ;)

Have you got yourself something pretty from this collection?

IMG 9755 Chanel Regard Signé and Rouge Coco Évasion

I am such a sucker for Chanel and I’m not even going to try to justify this purchase because £30 (and that is duty free) for an eyeshadow quad I’m never going to touch is just ridiculous. Yes, I said never going to touch. After some years of obsessive collecting of Chanel quads I’ve found that these quads from Chanel have become more like a work of art to me than actual makeup. I have some limited edition quads I really wish I had never touched as they are so unbelievably beautiful in the case but not always as good on the eye lid as other brands like Mac, Urban Decay ++. After seeing Lisa Eldridge’s video about vintage makeup I was so happy as I realized that I’m not the only one with this absurd habit of collecting beautiful makeup! :)

IMG 97612 Chanel Regard Signé and Rouge Coco Évasion

The Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in #48 Évasion I got from a very sweet friend who called my boyfriend to ask if there was anything he knew I wanted from the airport as he is well aware of my stupid makeup addiction. Surprisingly, as I thought all my ramblinsg about makeup went straight over James’s head, he remembered that I mentioned something about a lipstick from Chanel which I also wrote about in the review of my other two Rouge Coco Shine lipsticks. I suspect he took a quick look at the blog to see if I had mentioned anything, but I still gave him brownie points for that one!

IMG 97641 Chanel Regard Signé and Rouge Coco Évasion

While the two other lipsticks are in the bright pink-family, Évasion is more of a pinky-nude colour. It is such a gorgous colour for smokey eyes and I can’t wait to wear it so instead of doing boring swatches I’ll show it to you in a makeup look so that you get a better understanding of what it really looks like ;)

I bet a lot of you thought Mac Cosmetics was my favorite makeup brand, and in terms of quality of eyeshadows it definitely is, but Chanel has a special place in my makeup drawers! I think Chanel does the best lip products, really good foundations and powders, and pretty good mascaras as well. When it comes to packaging they are second to none and who doesn’t appreciate a bit of luxury in everyday life?

Which make up brand is your favorite?

start CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

On my way to Norway I came across these beauties from Chanel. I had promised myself that I wouldn’t buy any of them as I really don’t need any new lipsticks, but something drove me towards them and as soon as I had one of them in my hands I was sold – I had to have at least one! I tricked myself with the line that lipsticks are acutally an inexpensive and fast way to look fresh and beautiful, so I should I have one. There were four shades that seemed interesting, Boy, Chance, Evasion and Aventure, I chose Chance. Whilst I was in Norway I used Chance everyday, everywhere I went! My mom even asked me if I had done something with my lips so when I told her it was just a lipstick she was all over it!

IMG 96521 CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

Chanel says: “ROUGE COCO SHINE Hydrating Sheer Lipshine provides lasting moisturizing shine in a water-light texture. The formula glides on for easy application, and a unique HYDRATENDRE complex hydrates and softens lips, giving them a healthier and fuller appearance. Available in a complete range of shades, from delicate beiges to dazzling berries, with a hint of shimmer to enhance a glossy finish.” – and a fuller appearance I did indeed get :)

I would describe the shade as a milky pale girly pink with a cold undertone. If layered once you’ll get a nice wash of shiny colour whilst if you layer it again you’ll get a brighter pink. It is the kind of pink that goes well with big sunglasses, volumized hair and a nice pair of shoes and suits younger girls, a babe colour if you like ;) It’s not the normal colour I’d wear, and I actually don’t own anything else like it, but I really love it for the summer!!

IMG 9646 CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine #56 Chance and #57 Aventure

Aventure is a smidgen darker in a warmer undertone with gold sparkle. A really beautiful pink colour which I think I might be using all year round!

As for the consistency I think it’s very moisturising and lip plumping, the colour is pretty long wearing as well – I just wish the gloss would stay longer than it does. After about two hours you need to reapply, personally I’m not particularly troubled by this as the packaging is so beautiful that it makes me incredibly happy to hold it in my hand now and then ;)

IMG 87261 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

It’s needless to say how happy I am to finally have gotten my greedy little hands on this palette. I originally bought it in Dublin last year but I forgot it on one of our trips to London as it always comes with me on travels. It really is the perfect travel palette for both its matte and neutral shades and the more fun ond punchy shades for weekends and party. The first edition palette came with a double sided eyeliner of Whiskey (brown) and Zero (Black) while this edition is in company of a brush instead – and with the mini sized primer potion like last time.

IMG 8765 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

IMG 8729 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

Personally I think it makes much more sense to have a brush in the palette (though it should´ve been a double sided brush) but I guess you get much more value of two eyeliners. Oh well, it’s not the worst change they could change! The brush is similar to the large shader brush E60 from Sigma in size but the hairs feel a bit stiffer. I did my swatches with the brush and I must say that it picks up a lot of shadow but I don’t think it’s the best for blending. I reckon that you can fit a couple of the mini SS217 that Sigma used to give out though ;)

IMG 8734 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

Let’s get Naked!

IMG 8754 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

IMG 87811 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

  • Virgin: A light shimmery beige which makes a beautiful highlight on the brow bone as well as in the tear duct.
  • Sin: A frosty light champagne pink which is a great neutral colour to use as a base.
  • Naked: A soft matte brown which can be built up to a richer brown, perfect for the crease.
  • Sidecar: A shimmery and slightly glittery golden bronze with a bit of red in it.

IMG 8756 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

IMG 0470 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

  • Buck: A dark matte brown which is also perfect for the crease.
  • Half Baked: A yellowish gold with metallic shimmer.
  • Smog: A beautiful greenish bronze with shimmer.
  • Darkhorse: A bronze brown with green shimmer.

IMG 8759 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

IMG 0488 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

  • Toasted: A champagne-pink brown with shimmer.
  • Hustle: A dark plummy brown with flecks of purple.
  • Creep: A black with gold and silver shimmer.
  • Gunmetal: A black base with blue-gray frost and silver shimmer.

What I don’t like:

The packaging feels a bit cheap because of the velvety brown textile on the exterior. I like to keep my makeup clean but that is difficult with this palette because the velvet surrounding it attracts everything and it tend to stick forever. Velvet isn’t the easiest to clean either. This isn’t a problem if the palette just stays home but if you travel a lot this can get quite annoying. Also I would love to see a matte base colour and a matte black but that’s just me being extremely picky really, I don’t think I know any palette that gives you as many choices as this one!

IMG 8767 Review of Urban Decay Naked Palette Brush Edition 2011!!!!

What I really love:

I like that the palette is made with magnetic opening mechanism so that it’s easy to open it but it’s still firmly closed so that nothing falls out in my hand bag.

The value of this palette is amazing because you get 12 full sized eyeshadows, a brush and a mini primer potion for just £32 GBP (at HQhair.com). A palette with colours for daytime looks and party looks. A palette which is perfect for travelling. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a novice with her first set of eyeshadows, this is one you’ll want in your collection. SERIOUSLY. You need it.

All in all: 10/10

I got mine from HQhair.com but be quick because they might get sold out very soon again! The next makeup tutorials that are coming up will be with this palette, let’s get NAKED girls :)

EDIT: Sold out at HQhair.com again, but they have it at BeautyBay.com limited 1 per customer, crazy days!! :D

EDIT: Sold out at BeautyBay.com as well barely 2 hours after I wrote they had it. I don’t know anywhere thay have it right now, but I will update as soon as I know.

sigma Sigma Beauty upcoming secrets.....

I guess you already know that the new Cleansing & Polishing tool from Sigma is out, but did you know that within 60 days there will be 4 new attachments and one attachment for extra sensitive skin? Did you know that this beauty tool is only the first of many in a “Think Pink” beauty tool collection? Hah, I bet you didn’t know that because I didn’t know either until I just read it on the blog moxiereviews.com as she had an interview with the smart brazilian girl behind the brand Sigma, Simone. I’m very excited about this and I can’t wait to see what tool is up next! I haven’t tried the cleansing & Polishing tool yet so I can’t say if it’s good or not but it is on its way to me as we speak so there will be a review coming.

If you suffer from acne I advise you to not get this tool or at least to be extremely careful as too much rubbing on the skin can trigger more break outs and irritate the break outs that are already there.

Keep reading for more secrets… ;)

Skjermbilde 2011 06 09 kl. 16.02.41 Sigma Beauty upcoming secrets.....

A couple of weeks ago I wrote a post with pictures of the new makeup line from Sigma. You can now view swatches and a video of all the makeup palettes on the blog of the incredibly talented TiffanyD known as a beauty guru on YouTube. The palettes will be launched 24th of June and will be priced at $36 US each. The quality of the eyeshadows are being compared to Mac and Urban Decay, which are two of my favorite brands when it comes to eyeshadows. Big shoes to fill! Having seen the swatches I think Bare and Flare are my favorites so far and I really hope the quality is as good as being claimed!!

With the coupon code TIFFANY2011 you also get 10% off everything from Sigma untill June the 30th!!

These pictures are from the swatches TiffanyD postet on her blog:

Shortly time Sigma will also get a cruelty free logo from Peta as their range of beauty products is completely cruelty free :) Yay!! Another secret upcoming event is the launch of the Vegan Line but I don’t know when it will be launched.

What do you think about the swatches of the eyeshadow palettes and the secrets about the upcoming products? :)

IMG 80464 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

I promised you a review of the products James brought me from L.A from the new Chanel LE Summer collection of 2011 so here it is!! The products I´ve got from the collection are the three nail polishes 567 Beige Pétale, 557 Morning Rose and 577 Mimosa and the beautiful eyeshadow quad 32 Lilium.

567 Beige Pétale:

IMG 8054 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

This isn´t an opaque nude and it won´t be even if you layer it 5 times because it´s not supposed to be. This is the perfect sheer nude colour – don´t yawn just yet because there is more to this than you´d expect. I´m amazed at just how brilliant it is and I would describe it as a manicure in a bottle because it makes the nails looks so effortlessly naturally clean and gorgeous. I like to use two coats to get that pinky milky colour, absolutely gorgeous!

557 Morning Rose:

IMG 8060 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

Beautiful! Stunning! Gorgeous! What can I say, it´s a warm rose with micro gold glitter and how can you possibly not like that for summer? For me it´s the perfect pink, not too bright and not too light – perfect! I love that the micro glitters actually show up on the nail as well since they normally don´t with Chanel´s nail polishes – tending to glitter only in the bottle. I was extremely keen on getting my mits on the Mimosa but having tried all three I think this might be the star of the show for me, it´s THAT gorgeous!

577 Mimosa:

IMG 8055 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

Mimosa is the nail polish that stole the show of this collection and it really is special and unique. I think it´s a super cool shade for summer because of the fresh yellow tone, a perfectly bright yellow that brings out your tan rather than washing your colour away. I´d describe it as a warm toned yellow with lots of gold micro glitter. Mimosa dries incredibly quickly which is good because you will need at least two-three thin coats to get a nice opaque finish. Beautiful and truly special!

If you don´t want to splurge on a Chanel nail polish I´ve found one that is quite similar in colour but without the glitter for a steal price – Sephora Yellow Umbrella :)

IMG 8076 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

IMG 8058 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011
Sephora Yellow Umbrella to the left and Chanel Mimosa to the right.

I quite often get questions about my makeup collection but since my dressing room isn´t quite finished yet (missing lights along the mirror for the vanity wall ++) it might be a while untill I can get proper photos for you so I thought I could at least put up a photo of some of it now and then and here is my Chanel polish collection :)

IMG 8075 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

32 Lilium:

I almost feel as this quad was made for me as I think the shadows are drop dead gorgeous and you know me with green eyeshadows ;)

IMG 8098 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

IMG 8085 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

IMG 8104 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

The lightest shade is a soft warm pink with shimmer, the second is a warm yellowish green with subtle shimmer, the third is (obviously my favorite) a dark forest green with light green shimmer and the fourth shade is a beautiful mix of cold brown and taupe with silver shimmer.

The texture of these are all amazing, none of them are clearly less good which is rare for quads like this. They apply buttery smooth and blend easily – just what we want from eyeshadows :) To me this is the perfect summer eyeshadow quad and I´ve used it a lot since I got it!

What do you think about the summer collection, have you got anything from it or what are you lusting for?

IMG 5915 Review of Dior Gris Montaigne

“Directly inspired by interlacing lines and sensual curves of the mythic Lady Dior, the unprecedented Dior Cannage palette, enhanced by the famous “D-I-O-R” metal charms, becomes a true showcase for the eyes. This totally irresistible couture accessory opens to reveal a palette of divinely quilted grey eyeshadows set off with pink to adorn the eyes with all their beauty.” – Dior

IMG 5930 Review of Dior Gris Montaigne

Cannarge is part of the Gris Montaigne spring collection which is all about the iconic greys of the House of Dior paired with summery and feminine shades of pink. There are two shades of the Dior Cannage, a lighter shade called Whisper Grey and a darker shade called Dawn Grey. This review is of the palette made up of the lighter shades, Whisper Grey #002.

What attracts me to products from Dior (and other high end brands) is the beautiful, high quality and luxurious feeling packaging the products come in. How can you not love this packaging? I also really like how the case is made with magnets so it opens and closes easily, but still holds together strongly enough that it doesn´t open in your hand bag when left lose. Eyeshadow mess in the hand bag is not cool ;) I´m not a big fan of the Dior letter charms that some hate and some love. It´s not a big issue for me, but if I could choose I´d rather have the palette without the charms ;) The palette also comes with a decent sized mirror and a sponge applicator, personally I think they needn´t have bothered with the latter.

dior palette stor Review of Dior Gris Montaigne

It also becomes an accessory in the same way as the hand bags and purses from Dior, like the purse I got from my boyfriend a little while ago, as it´s quilted in the same fashion.

IMG 59381 Review of Dior Gris Montaigne

The colours are gorgeous and I´m loving this palette for a neutral everyday look. All of the three lighter shades have a frosty finish while the dark shade has a satin finish. It makes it a palette suitable for women of all ages and wearable for both everyday and for a sophisticated party.

The lightest beige shade is a beautiful highlighter with subtle golden shimmer and works well in the inner corners of your eyes to open your eyes or on the brow bone to lift the eyebrows.

The medium coloured shade is a lovely warm pale taupe-grey and is my favorite of the four. In certain lights there is a hint of khaki in it as well. This would be the colour I would use on the lid for a look with the palette. If anything I wish it was less shimmery and more pigmented, you know me ;)

The pink shade is a sheer shimmery pink. Because of the sheerness of this I wouldn´t use it on the lid like the taupe grey one, but I would use it between the lightest shade and the grey taupe as a transition colour.

I´m very happy about how they´ve decided to make this last dark shade matte (satin) as it works brilliantly in the crease and outer corner to create some depth, or as a soft eyeliner. Since the colour is a dark taupe grey it works brilliantly as a natural shadow.

  • Includes a matte shade which works well with the shimmery shades

  • Comes with a useless sponge applicator
  • Pricey

IMG 58772 Review of Estee Lauder Peach Nuance

I wrote a post about a possible dupe to the much raved about Mac Ripe Peach a while ago. The dupe was this little pretty thing, Peach Nuance from Estee Lauder. Unfortunately I didn´t get my hands on the Ripe Peach but after I´ve seen swatches around various sites I´m kind of glad I got this instead. From the pictures I´ve seen it looks like the Ripe Peach is very peachy while Peach Nuance is a smidgen more peachy pink in comparison and peachy pink blushes are my true favorites! It´s also reported that Ripe Peach has some subtle shimmer, while this has more of a satin finish which I really like :)

IMG 5878 Review of Estee Lauder Peach Nuance

Peach Nuance comes in a very elegant shiny case of blue and gold. It has a decent sized mirror in the lid and it also comes with a little brush. The brush is, as always with these palettes, useless, so I threw it out as soon as I got my hands on it. The reason why it has been raved about as a dupe is probably because of how they both gradient from light yellowish to a peach colour. I love blush/bronzer products that have more than one shade because it gives you so many options and it also makes it a product you can use for a greater part of the year since you can mix it to the colour that suits your skin best at any time. You can also use it as a 3D product as I´ve showed you before with the Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite.

Ps: If you´re looking for a nice matte bronzer, I can´t emphasise enough how much I love Guerlain Terracotta 4 seasons.. It´s a bronzer with four different matte shades and it´s just amazing!! I´m sorry for the not related input and I guess I should do a review of it seeing as I have both of the shades it comes in. I LOVE it!! Do you want a review of them btw? :)

IMG 58811 Review of Estee Lauder Peach Nuance

The lightest shade is very yellowish so I don´t find myself using it by itself on the cheeks but mixed with the darker shade it becomes a lovely sheer glowing peachy pink blush which suits my pale skin perfectly. The blush is quite sheer so this is a lovely blush if you often feel that you get too much on your brush. In other words, this is really easy to apply and you can´t get too much! Did I mention the really nice glow it gives? It´s really the kind of glow that looks like you are lit from within. Beautiful!

IMG 60122 Review of Estee Lauder Peach Nuance

Pros:

  • The closest you can get to the LE Mac Ripe Peach (only prettier imo)
  • A beautiful and elegant case
  • Contains three colours which means several options
  • A blush that can be used all year around because there is no shimmer and you can blend the colours to get the right shade
  • Gives your cheeks a glowy illuminated from within look
  • Because it´s so sheer it´s easy to apply and you can choose whether you want a sheer wash of colour or build it up for more cover.
  • It also comes in several other colours if this isn´t what floats your boat

Cons:

  • It´s quite pricey
  • May be a little bit sheer if you prefer bright blushes
  • Contains a useless brush that in the end only makes the case bigger

All in all: 8/10

If you missed out on Ripe Peach it´s worth getting. If you like matte/satin blushes in peachy pink colours it´s worth getting. If you also find it difficult to apply blush without looking like a clown, it´s worth getting. Basically, It´s worth getting ;)

Do you prefer matte blushes or shimmery blushes?

IMG 62101 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Valient Eye Shadow QuadWhen I first saw the pictures of the collection I thought all the quads looked gorgeous and I was scared that I would end up buying all of them which could have ended up badly for my purse, but when I saw them in person I discovered that the very pretty blue shadow in Lady Justice already appears in my collection (deep truth) and the quality of the shadows from Defiance wasn´t that impressive so I was left with Valient which happens to have the colours I prefer anyway. I´m so glad I did because the colours are amazing and they look beautiful together, all in warm golden tones.

IMG 6849 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Valient Eye Shadow Quad

This quad includes four beautiful shades: Manila Paper (a frosty white gold), Valient (light green with golden reflects), Diana Undercover (matte dark forest green) and Spinning Transformation (deep olive bronze with golden reflects).

IMG 6877 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Valient Eye Shadow Quad

Manila Paper: The quality of this shadow is amazing with really good colour pay off like with most Veluxe Pearl Finishes. However, the colour isn´t by any means special as it´s absolutely a colour we´ve seen before (repromote from Spring Colour Forecast). If you own Mac Nylon I wouldn´t bother getting the quad for this shadow even though it´s gorgeous, but if you need a golden highlighter for the inner corners and the brow bone I´d say this is perfect! They say that a little bit of highlighter by the tear duct opens up your eyes, if you use a golden one it will also give a nice sheen to the eyes ;)

IMG 68491 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Valient Eye Shadow Quad

Valiant: Like with most Frost Finishes the colour pay off isn´t very good, but it has lots of shimmer and works wonderfully on top of a darker shade like Diana Undercover to give som sparkle.

Diana Undercover: Such a gorgeous colour! This is a Satin Finish and the pigmentation of this is ok, but it can be a little bit difficult to blend as it feels a little bit chalky sometimes. You are better off layering this to get a nice colour. It´s also a special colour that we don´t see too often, It actually reminds me of bottle green which is a Mac Pro colour, but unfortunately I don´t have it to swatch it for you.

IMG 68492 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Valient Eye Shadow Quad

Satin Transformation: Beautiful! It´s the kind of shade I never get enough of! It´s perfect for brown eyes if you don´t like colours so much because it looks very brown and earthtoned, but it has a tint of olive bronze which makes your brown eyes pop! ;) It´s not as creamy and buttery as most Frost Finish eyeshadows, but it´s ok.

Swatches with similar shades:

Pro´s:

  • Four beautiful shades that work perfectly together for women of all ages (especially for brown eyes)
  • Easy to carry in a bag or on a weekend away
  • Much better quality case than the rest of the collection
  • No permanent shades included
  • Overall good quality of the eye shadows (especially Manila Paper)

Cons:

  • The design isn´t very glamorous and classy
  • Some shades could´ve been better

I´m actually really happy with this palette and I feel it suits women of all ages because of the earthy tones. Even though I had trouble with swatching some of the shades I found that they work brilliantly on the lid. Absolutely worth checking out!

IMG 62381 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Emancipation lipglass
This lipgloss is ridiculously perfect! I don´t even know where to begin..

The lipglass is new and a limited edition and the colour is a pinky nude with splashes of subtle champagne-shimmer. Luckily the shimmer isn´t chunky so your lips don´t turn into an overpowering disco ball in the middle of your face like some shimmer glosses do, actually I find it adds volume to the lips in a classy sultry way! Really love it!!

This pic is taken with a flash so you can see the shimmer (it almost look like sugar, doesn´t it?):

IMG 6470 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Emancipation lipglass

Without a flash, and how it really looks like, the shimmer is really subtle:

IMG 6484 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Emancipation lipglass

I wore it for the easy smokey eye using few products tutorial if you want to see how it looks like from a distanse.

Like most of the lip products from Mac this is vanilla-scented which I really like. The formula is more on the thicker and sticky side, but that doesn´t really bother me unless I´m in the wind with my hands full and my hair gets stuck and I have to do all kinds of unflattering acrobatic moves to get rid of the hair, don´t you just hate it when that happens?? ;)

Since the lipglass is part of the Wonder Woman collection it´s a jumbo size, which means a huge tube and a huge applicator. My lips aren´t big like Angelina Jolie´s, but they are more on the fuller side which means that this hasn´t been a problem for me. In fact I´m completely in love with the applicator because of the soft tip which feels really nice on my lips. If you have thin lips it might be annoying and difficult to apply though. I know a lot of people have had problems with gloss popping out when pulling out the applicator, luckily I haven´t experienced this even though I tried pulling it out in all kinds of different ways. Maybe they´ve fixed it, or maybe it´s just an issue with some of them.

IMG 6239 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Emancipation lipglass

It´s very similar to the Marquise d´lipstick but this turns more towards pink whilst Marquise d´turns more towards a golden brown:

P
ro´s:

  • The perfect beautiful pinky nude lipgloss
  • Long lasting because of the stickyness
  • Big applicator which is great for big lips ;)
  • Big tube with lots of gloss inside
  • Did I mention it´s gorgeous??

Cons:

  • The design of the lipgloss isn´t very classy and glamorous
  • The big applicator may be annoying for thin lips
  • Some have had problems with gloss popping out when pulling out the applicator

All in all: 9/10 (if this came in a typical high end classy packaging it would be a 10)

IMG 6565 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite Duo Blush

This blush is also a big size since it´s part of the Wonder Woman collection and it´s about the same size as the normal size mineralize skinfinishes. I must say I´m very happy about the size because I absolutely adore it and there is more to love! :)

IMG 6574 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite Duo Blush

The blush is divided into two shades which means that you have several options as to how to use it. You can use them individually, blend them or use it as a contouring product. When I say contouring I don´t mean all over the face, but it can give a nice 3D effect to the cheeks if you use the darker shade underneath the cheekbone and blend it up with the lighter shade. A very pretty product indeed! :)

IMG 6536 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite Duo Blush

Mac describes the colours as one warm peach coral with gold pearl and one bright coral pink with gold pearl.

The bigger and lighter shade: This is a beautiful and well pigmented peacky pink coral with a shimmery golden sheen. The shimmer isn´t as overpowering as the blush part of Pink Power, but it´s a subtle glowy shimmer which gives you a gorgeous sheen! This is definitely going on the shelf of favorite blushes ;)

The small and darker shade: This is a bright reddish coraly pink with some golden sheen. This part is not as pigmented as the other side, but I actually view it as a good thing because the colour you get from blending them is beautiful. I had some problems with swatching it, but a brush picks it up so much easier so it´s really not an issue.

I found that the Mac 168 blush brush was the best option for this blush with both of the shades.

I really wish I had all of my blushes with me now so that I could swatch and compare it to my other blushes as it really reminds me of a couple of blushes I own (Nars Deep Throat, Estee Lauder Peach Nuance etc).

IMG 6545 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite Duo Blush

The peachy side – The bright side – Mixed

IMG 6579 Review of Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphrodite Duo Blush

In this picture I´ve used the blush as a contouring product. I used the darker shade underneath the cheekbone, mixed them in the middle and used only the light shade on the top of the cheekbone. I really like to apply blushes like this, and if you apply a little bit of a matte bronzer underneath the cheekbone as well (like the shade from Pink Power) you´ll get an even better result! :) Please ignore the cruel details of my skin that the camera decided to pick up on ;)

Pro´s:

  • Three blushes in one product (lighter shade, darker shade and the shade you get when mixed)
  • Works brilliant to get a 3D effect on the cheeks
  • Works with both warm and cool undertones (except the lighter shade used by it self may be nicer on warm skin tones)
  • There is a mirror in the lid!! :)
  • Even though it´s plastic it sure can take some hits as I´ve dropped mine on the marbel floor twice without getting so much as a crack :)

Cons:

  • Not a very glamorous and classy design as with the rest of the collection
  • I honestly can´t think of anything else.. :)

As you may have already guessed, I really love this duo blush and unless you feel very strongly about the design of the collection I can´t think of one single reason why you shouldn´t get it.

All in all: 9/10
