IMG 1711 When in Rome...

Good day my lovely readers :) I hope you’ve had a nice day so far. I’ve had a busy morning figuring out how to organise all the stuff that arrives from James’ office today. I just finished and the movers are about 5 minutes away, phuh!

So, back to the head line… What could possibly be more french than red nails (baguettes and croissant excluded)? While I’m sitting here waiting for the movers to arrive I thougth I’d paint my nails with something grown up so that my bossy pointing gets more powerful, haha :) I wish I was joking but if I’m wearing something that makes me feel more grown up and strong, I will act like it. Who knows, maybe even my french will improve ;) Please say that you do the same?

Anyway, I really like this red colour and I think it’s perfect for this time of the year. Red nails goes with almost everything.

What is your favorite colour for the nails this season?

IMG 80464 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

I promised you a review of the products James brought me from L.A from the new Chanel LE Summer collection of 2011 so here it is!! The products I´ve got from the collection are the three nail polishes 567 Beige Pétale, 557 Morning Rose and 577 Mimosa and the beautiful eyeshadow quad 32 Lilium.

567 Beige Pétale:

IMG 8054 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

This isn´t an opaque nude and it won´t be even if you layer it 5 times because it´s not supposed to be. This is the perfect sheer nude colour – don´t yawn just yet because there is more to this than you´d expect. I´m amazed at just how brilliant it is and I would describe it as a manicure in a bottle because it makes the nails looks so effortlessly naturally clean and gorgeous. I like to use two coats to get that pinky milky colour, absolutely gorgeous!

557 Morning Rose:

IMG 8060 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

Beautiful! Stunning! Gorgeous! What can I say, it´s a warm rose with micro gold glitter and how can you possibly not like that for summer? For me it´s the perfect pink, not too bright and not too light – perfect! I love that the micro glitters actually show up on the nail as well since they normally don´t with Chanel´s nail polishes – tending to glitter only in the bottle. I was extremely keen on getting my mits on the Mimosa but having tried all three I think this might be the star of the show for me, it´s THAT gorgeous!

577 Mimosa:

IMG 8055 Chanel Limited Edition Summer Collection 2011

Mimosa is the nail polish that stole the show of this collection and it really is special and unique. I think it´s a super cool shade for summer because of the fresh yellow tone, a perfectly bright yellow that brings out your tan rather than washing your colour away. I´d describe it as a warm toned yellow with lots of gold micro glitter. Mimosa dries incredibly quickly which is good because you will need at least two-three thin coats to get a nice opaque finish. Beautiful and truly special!

If you don´t want to splurge on a Chanel nail polish I´ve found one that is quite similar in colour but without the glitter for a steal price – Sephora Yellow Umbrella :)

I quite often get questions about my makeup collection but since my dressing room isn´t quite finished yet (missing lights along the mirror for the vanity wall ++) it might be a while untill I can get proper photos for you so I thought I could at least put up a photo of some of it now and then and here is my Chanel polish collection :)

32 Lilium:

I almost feel as this quad was made for me as I think the shadows are drop dead gorgeous and you know me with green eyeshadows ;)

The lightest shade is a soft warm pink with shimmer, the second is a warm yellowish green with subtle shimmer, the third is (obviously my favorite) a dark forest green with light green shimmer and the fourth shade is a beautiful mix of cold brown and taupe with silver shimmer.

The texture of these are all amazing, none of them are clearly less good which is rare for quads like this. They apply buttery smooth and blend easily – just what we want from eyeshadows :) To me this is the perfect summer eyeshadow quad and I´ve used it a lot since I got it!

What do you think about the summer collection, have you got anything from it or what are you lusting for?

IMG 7631 In the moment: Fizz!

I´m loving this colour!! I´ve used three coats on the picture above but I reckon it´s enough with two, I just slapped it on the first time and had to go back and fix it which is why I needed a third coat. I simply lack the patience to sit and wait for my nail polish to dry and I know I need to work on that, luckily there are greater problems to have! I´ve gotten loads of compliments on the colour and I´ve also seen a lot of girls wearing similar colours on the beach. It´s definitely a colour that would fizz up a boring outfit. Loving it!!

When I was going through my makeup collection to figure out what to pack up in boxes for the new flat and what to bring with me to our temporary flat, I came across some nail polishes that I had kind of forgotten about and I started playing instead of packing. Yes, you know how that works. Anyway, I felt like trying out something new and while this isn´t really what I normally would go for I still think it´s quite interesting/amusing. I´m also surprised that I actually succeeded seeing as I´m normally a very sloppy nail painter :) Anyway, I thought I would upload a pic and show you sweets how I did it because it´s really easy and you can absolutely switch out the glitter for a more wearable shade :)

IMG 5840 All Hail McQueen Bring on the bling!

IMG 58672 All Hail McQueen Bring on the bling!

I used Butter London “All Hail McQueen” on the tip as a base, when that was dry I applied the “Bring on the Bling” from OPI. My best friend at the moment as regards nail painting is the correct & clean up pen from OPI. It´s basically a pen with nail polish remover inside which makes sure the tip stays moist. If you´ve messed up this one does the job! It has saved me so many times. To make sure it was all in place I applied the Base & top coat from OPI on top. It´s so easy :) Next time I think I´ll try black or red as I imagine that would look more edgy :)

Do you like to do fun stuff with your nails or do you keep them simple?

Are you

This nail polish is part of both the spring collection 2011 and the Gris City nail polish trio. It is inspired by the Dior Boutique in Paris, on Avenue Montaigne of course. It´s one of the first nail polishes with a new formula which is stronger, longer lasting, quick dry and with a new tapered paddle-shaped brush.

I´m very impressed by how quickly it dried and yet still looked creamy and glossy! That being said, I´m not a huge fan of the new brush. The new tapered paddle-shaped brush picks up way too much from the bottle and I find it difficult to apply evenly along the cuticle.

The colour is so beautiful though. It´s a luxuorious looking medium grey creme and you´ll only need one coat to get an opaque finish. At first it looks like a plain grey, but if you look closer you can see tiny bits of subtle silver shimmer. I LOVE it!!

IMG 5610 Christian Dior Vernis Gris Montaigne 707

I have now worn it for 3 days and it´s still looking really good without any chipping at all. I have to mention that I have gel nails and that nail polish sometimes holds on for longer, but I´ve read that it´s doing just as great on normal nails as well. :)

mac nailset004 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail LacquersAsiatique, Beyond Jealous, Nocturnelle, Vice is Nice, Vintage Vamp

I got this set from my adorable and attentive boyfriend in what has turned out to become the best christmas calender I´ve ever had. A Tartan Tale is the MAC Holiday Collection that came out in October in US/Canada and November internationally. “Naughty Little Vice Nail Lacquers” consists of a tin box with the classic scottish tartan pattern and 5 miniature nail lacquers including four repromoted favorites and one new (and exclusive) shade. The set itself is limited edition like the rest of the collection.

Asiatique:

IMG 3448 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

A creamy bright cherry red. This laquer applied smooth and nice without any streaking which meant that I only needed one coat to get an opaque finish. This is a repromote.

Beyond Jealous:

IMG 3461 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

A blackishly forest green. One of the laquers that unfortunately applied rather streakily, I needed a whoping three coats to get a creamy opaque finish, but the color you get is gorgeous! This is also a repromote.

Nocturnelle:

IMG 3464 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

A creamy black which is the perfect black. This applied smooth and nice without any streaking. Just like with Asiatique (the red), I only needed one coat to get an opaque finish! This is a repromote.

Vice is Nice

IMG 3451 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

A shimmery light classic metallic gold that comes out much lighter than it looks like in the vial, but this is after just one coat. For me this is a positive thing because I think it is much prettier on the nail than in the vial. Maybe it comes out darker with more coats. Non-streaky and easy to apply. New and exclusive to this set.

Vintage Vamp:

IMG 3446 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

My favorite of them all, a deep burgundy bloody red. It reminds me a lot of Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, but this is a bit more on the red side whilst Black Orchid is a bit more on the brownish side. Even though I love the color, again I needed a whopping three coats to get an opaque finish and this was the most streaky of them all. This is also a repromote.

I love the fact that the vials are so small (2,5 g) because that makes them not only easier to store, but my conscience is happier for the fact that I won´t be wasting a lot of nice nail polish as I won´t be able to use them all up before they become old. The brushes are also amazingly easy to work with as they are so small and soft which is a good thing for clumsy girls like when applying the laquer on the right hand as my control of my left hand is not so good. I´ve always liked OPI for its big brush, but this is actually a lot easier to work with.

I also love the colors! Even though some of them aren´t very unique I think that they are shades that most girls need in their collection (except for the blackish green maybe). I also think it´s great value for your money, as long as you live in the US. I went to look up the prize for you on both the UK site and the US site and I must say that I´m surprised about the difference!

MAC Cosmetics US site:

MAC Cosmetics UK site:

Skjermbilde 2010 12 22 kl. 23.49.36 Review of MAC A Tartan Tale Naughty Little Vices Nail Lacquers

I would say that the US price is a steal compared to the UK prize as it is £ 7 cheaper in the US. If I lived in the US I would definitely buy it because I really love it, but I wouldn´t buy it for myself in UK as it is too much money spent on five small lacquers… but of course I´m thrilled to own them ;)

  • Product: 8/10
  • Value: US : 7/10, EU : 5/10
  • Ease of use: 8/10
  • Packaging: 8/10

What do you think about the set? Which color(s) do you prefer? :)

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful? Oh my.. I never thought anything makeup/perfume could make me feel so sophisticated, grown up and glamorous. How is that even possible? Do you want to know the best part about it? I didn´t even pick it out myself. It was my amazingly kind and sweet James that got it for me for my christmas calendar. I´m so moved.. I´ve always thought that I had to stick to fresh and light flower perfumes, but this is amazing on me even though it is a bit on the heavier side. I would say that it is an evening perfume that is best worn for glamorous occasions, but I know that it´s worn for daytime as well. In fact, if I´m not mistaken, British beauty blogger Laura aka Lollipop26 loves this perfume! (Where is she btw??:( )

Set includes a solid Black Orchid perfume, a deep plum lipstick and his first nailpolish, a deep plum.

chanel riva official 1 Chanel Côte d’Azur Collection: Review of Le Vernis Riva Limited edition
Beauty junkies, take note: Chanel’s newest limited edition nail color, Riva, has hit the stores! It came out on December 1. The pretty eggshell oceanic blue color first made its debut at Chanel’s 2011 Resort Collection Runway Show on the fingernails of Abbey Lee Kershaw and Magdalena Frackowiak, which took place in Saint-Tropez, France, back in May. It is developed for the Côte d’Azur Makeup Collection. Naturally, the nail color is already causing a major sensation in the beauty world, and with good reason.. it’s the perfect shade of blue with a very interesting sheen of shimmer to it. I have never seen anything like it as with most Chanel nail laquers.

Of course, such a sought after product won’t be easy to track down. In fact, rumors abound that Riva is already sold out? I was shocked when I found this in my christmas calender from my boyfriend the other day. He said that they were just unpacking it when he wandered by. Brilliant! He is really starting to get a hang of this now.

chanel riva close up Chanel Côte d’Azur Collection: Review of Le Vernis Riva Limited editionWhy such passion for the color? Chanel is known for its limited edition nail lacquers. In fact, since 1994, Chanel has been consistently turning out must-have nail colors, season after season. No doubt you remember last year’s Chanel Jade? The minty green color was an instant hit and, at one point, sold for upwards of $100 on eBay. Jade’s follow-up colors Particulière and Nouvelle Vague were major hits as well. In other words, consider yourself warned: you may be in for a struggle if Chanel Riva strikes your fancy!

The color of the bottle is as mentioned a pretty eggshell oceanic blue at first glance. When you look closer you will see a beautiful sheen. It´s kind of the same effect as in the Mac Satin finish, it collectively reflects the light. Just like the beautiful turqoise sea of the Côte d’Azur that strucks us with its beauty everyday from our balcony. Unfortunately, this isnt quite as apparent once the polish is on the nail. There are glimpses of shimmer if you stare intensely at your nails under certain lights but this is unlikely to be picked up by others at first glance.

Here I have two coats:

neglerriva Chanel Côte d’Azur Collection: Review of Le Vernis Riva Limited edition

However, the quality is as it always is with the Chanel laquers. It could have been much better. Luckily for them the color is so stunning that beauty junkies like myself just don´t care about the quality as the color is so unique.

If you can´t get a hold of it you can always try to mix your own. I found a receipe at NYLON that might work, it´s definitely worth a try ;)

Mix six parts of an opaque white polish, with two parts of Brucci “Bert’s Blue,” and one part of Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear in “Blue Me Away.

What do you think about it? Are you going hunting for Riva?

The nail polish trend for the fall has been very much focused on dark and natural colors like dark purples and greens, muddy colors and metallic colors. Moving on to the holiday season there will be a lot more glamour going on. But before we get all the way to the glitter (which I´ve already bought of course), I´ll stick to the beautiful Nars Mash.

I´m a big fan of olive and golden greens so when I stumbled upon this beauty in Dublin, I just had to have it! I feel as it was ment for me because there were only one left :) This is one of the nail polishes that has been brought back for the Nars Vintage Nail Polish 2010 Collection and I think it has some early christmas qualities to it.

Mash is an army green infused with gold which makes it a tad more special than the average olive green. Simply gorgeous!!

What are you wearing on your nails at the moment?

I´ve had cravings for these nail polishes for so long. I´ve been searching every store they sell Chanel in Dublin, London and here in Monaco. Some of the shops never even got them and if they did they all have been sold out as soon as they came out. I told a good friend of mine and she made a few phonecalls… and vavoom!! I got one!! :D Sent from America just for me! I´m soo happy!!!
