Doggie braces

IMG 1351 Doggie braces

Ah, I’ve slept like a baby tonight! Every single part of my body hurts from yesterday, it’s amazing how much of a workout you can get from staying in one spot – love yoga! After the yoga yesterday we went to see the vet with Linus and they said Linus will have to get braces!! I didn’t even know that existed for dogs :O His teeth hasn’t come out right as some of his milk teeth are still in and at some places he has teeth coming sideways, poor thing. We will fix it ♥

Linus was not very happy to hear the news…. Luckily we have a week to prepare. I’m going to spoil him with doggie cupcakes from the doggie spa at Harrods this week (yes, they actually have doggie cupcakes!) because I have a feeling he’ll only be chewing wet dog food next week. Poor little thing…

Hope you’re having a great morning! xx

Braces fro dogs!? wow, just imagine. yet. how many of our pets would actully survive in the wild, our bunny is dead scare of the outdoors and some friends of ours got a bunny after we did and they have spoiled him so silly he wont eat anything hard (e.g. carrots) and now they need to bring him to the vet every month to have his teeth filed down!

Poor thing, wonder what he will think about strange wires in his mouth? I never knew dogs could wear braces but now i know, i think it’s a great thing. People can get terrible migraines or other health issues if their jaws&bite are not in order so i guess animals too only they can’t tell us about it.

Haha, seriously? I didn’t even know doggie braces existed. For how long is he going to have them on? Poor little Linus.. Hope it goes well and that he doesn’t get a lot of pain out of it!

Yes, unfortunately it’s seriously. I don’t know how long he’ll have to have them, hopefully not too long. Thank you for your kind words.

Aw cute!!

Our Boston has funny teeth and under bite, vet says its normal in smaller dogs to have funny teeth and that it would only be for esthetics if we fixed it.

Ah that’s fortune in unfortune to not have to fix it :)

Braces??? Seriously? Can’t the vets just leave poor little and cute Linus alone? I am quite sure he will survive without these silly braces as many other dogs/cats/animals do. Linus will hate this foreign body in his mouth. Are they crazy? I feel so sorry for him as I love dogs, and animals in general. I mean, it is not a renal failure that he needs a prompt treatment he cannot live without.

Anyway, I love the photos!

The vet has told us that without correction his teeth are growing in a way that means they can puncture the roof of his mouth which will get infected and that he will end up with a deformed palette.

Trust me – we love Linus more than you do and would never put him through a procedure he didn’t need.

My dog has the the same problem, but is not so bad, when he bit us, doesnt hurt :) , would be very dangerous with normal teeth

Hahaha as a dental professional I find this hilarious. In my teens I worked for an orthodontist and I heard of one case of a dog getting braces. And that was to keep their jaw stable after they broke it.
I can’t wait to see them on Linus. Please post pictures!! He will be even cuter if that’s possible :)
Good that you’re fixing it now though. It could affect his eating later on if his bite is off.
I had braces for several years so if its anything like that he will be sore.
Best of luck to him. Poor baby :(
Lots of love

I don´t know you, Krystle, but by just looking at your picture I knew that you are a dental professional or someone who is somehow linked to medicine :D I am a medical student myself, so I am happy to see here my colleague ;)

To Celina: Give Linus a big hug from me. I had braces for several years and I remember how painful it was. Poor little Linus <3

Emily,
I am glad that I look like I am in the dental profession…I assume it is my well care for smile.. lol :)
How interesting!! Are you going to be a doctor or nurse..etc? I love finding colleagues and people in the same network.
Since you are still in school, I know it can be stressful. I stress all throughout school. The medical profession is crazy when it comes to making very good grades to obtain your degree..
If you every want to talk about anything you can email me at krystlepowell@me.com or find me on fb by searching Krystle Powell
I always love meeting new people!
