BOAT!!!! :D

Weeeee :D I’m so excited!!! Because a big part of the social scene in the south of France happens on the beach and in beach clubs and restaurants it is quite common down here to have little boats that you use like a taxi. I mentioned to James the other day how I wish we had one too, not a yacht or anything – just a small day boat – and now it looks like we might do! James and I and a couple of friends think we have found a really good bargain on a Monte Carlo Offshore, a 9m day boat designed by the same guy who designed the Riva boats.

James is going to check it out in St Tropez with a couple of guys who knows what to look for, and if everything is up to snuff we’re good to go!! :D

I can’t wait to take this baby for a spin!! We need to come up with a name though, any suggestions? James has suggested Swims, but it’s always good to have several options ;)

Hope you’re enjoying your day!! XX

How exciting!! Congratulations on the impending purchase. Just so you know though, if the boat is new you can name it whatever you want… But if you’re purchasing it from a previous owner it’s bad luck to change the name ;)

Can’t wait to see pictures of you on it :)

Name it CELINA, it’s such a pretty name!

Naming it Celina is great idea.
Or Dutch Man like the ship in Pirates of the Caribbean, is it too pretentious? :)
How about New Love? :) Hope you’ll get one soon…

Cool speedboat!!

I absolutely love boats. I love sailing, tanning on deck or drink a nice wine in the sun!

That’s why I’ve got a bachelor degree in shipbuilding. Now I’m doing a master degree in shipping management.

Italian design is so nice!! they make the finest yacht. Very good quality and of course beautiful.

To give you a few tips if you like:
Make shure the engine is well maintained or you can get big expenses. ( clean filters, piping that looks wel maintained, batteries who do not get discharged too easily, shaft that doesn’t look damaged. If you can start the engine check for weird noises and look if there is no loss of fuel in the water.Check the hull for damages. I small crack can become bigger when cruising in the waves and it just doesn’t look nice doesn’t it? Plus it can become so big you get water inside your boat.

If the propellor is a bit damaged or corroded you can easily replace it and if the zinc anodes are very corroded you have to replace them as well. Normally the zinc anodes prevent the propeller from corroding. Zinc is more inert than brass so the waters attacs the zinc instead of the brass. (it called hydrolysis ) Check the antifouling as well. It also a good idea to check for small cracks. From the pictures I guess the boat is made out of a polyester. When used a lot they can get small cracks near the windows and places where they made holes in the polyester to fix something to it. It’s not dangerous or so but it just doesn’t look nice.

The engine and hull are the most important things to be ok. A propeller can cost quite some money and replacing zinc anodes or putting some new anitfouling on the hull will just take a couple of days. You can do it yourself or let somebody do it for you. Once bought you will have to check the zinc anodes and replace the antifouling once a year or once every two years. It depends on how much you actually sail and how long the boat is in the water( if it lays in the harbor or stalled in shore)

good luck with the speedboat!!

So nice. You are so young and invest all that money. May I ask you what kind of job you do, did you study in some amazing Uni? Enjoy it.

Celina that’s brilliant! Now you can rock the boat like in Aaliyah song :) If I had this boat I definitively would call it Aaliyah because I liked her songs…but you should call name it just Celina and I like it :D xx

Congratulations on your purchase. I live in the United States and have also just purchased a 1986 Monte Carlo Offshorer, that I believe might be the only one in the states. It has fabulous lines and I can’t wait to get it on the Lake. I too have struggled with a name but I believe have decided on Princess ( in Italian though) as the current name was removed from the boat (not by me). Good luck again and enjoy. To me I have been boating for almost 40 years and I still believe “a day without boating is like a day without sunshine”.
