If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I posted a picture of a cute little black box with a braided ribbon not long ago. Inside the box was a black python shark tooth belt with gold details by Givenchy :D It’s my newest little treasure and I absolutely love wearing it with coats. I think a belt can spice up a a black coat in a fun and edgy way, and make an all over black look become much more interesting.

I had a really lovely time with the girls yesterday (outfit on Instagram) and I’m so thrilled to have met such nice people already. London is only getting better and better! We went for Japanese at a place called Wabi in Covent Garden, it’s a fairly new place and the food was really nice (but quite small portions). I didn’t bring the camera because I wanted to have a girls dinner and just chat and laugh, but next time I go (and I’m sure I will) I will bring the camera :)

Now I’m off buying more paint for our Valentine’s day project which has grown to become more of a winter project really, and maybe some paint remover as the paint has managed to reach the floor despite our 5x5m cover-up. Oh well, it’s great fun – highly recommended ;)

I hope you’re having a really nice weekend! xx

Thank you so much for all your kind words on my outfit yesterday, both here on the blog and on Instagram, you are the sweetest readers! ♥ I hope you all had a great day yesterday. As promised I’ve put together the best pictures from our date night at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant “Dinner” at the Manadarin Hotel in London. The restaurant not only serves delicious food, but the thought is to renew ancient British recipes and use modern techniques to bring them to life with Heston’s usual flair, of course.

After a quick drink in the bar we were given what must have been the best place in the restaurant, a seat with a view to the kitchen :D It’s incredibly fun to watch them work and fire was all over the place several times (purposely, not like when I have fire in the kitchen…).

Someone’s very excited…

Looking sharp. James wore one of the new Hermès ties I got him for Christmas ♥ Isn’t it beautiful?

To start we shared a “Rice and Flesh” which was out of this world. I’m a big sucker for saffron so serve me anything with saffron and I’m all yours, but this was exceptionally good. It was a saffron risotto with tender little calf tails. Brilliant.

story Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Hotel London

We also shared a Hay Smokey Mackerel with Lemon salad, gentleman’s relish & olive oil, which was lovely as well. Notice the details on the plate, it’s little wonders of food art.

As a main I chose Cod in Cider with Chard & fired mussels which was buttery soft and melted in my mouth. It was beautifully done!

Served to the other side of the table was one of the best steaks I’ve ever tried, the Hereford Ribeye. With the steak James got triple cooked fries which were so yummy I didn’t even get to snap a photo of them before they were gone. Triple cooked means a start of boil, then brought to fry and then finished off in the oven – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

When it was time for dessert there were no question about what we were going to have. James is the biggest ice cream fan on the planet so the liquid nitrogen ice cream invented by Heston Blumenthal himself was the obvious choice. I promised our lovely French waitor I would make a gif of the process so you readers could see the cool process properly.

First custard is poured in..

Next is hand-cranking with the addition of the liquid nitrogen to produce a smooth vanilla ice cream. Pretty cool, huh? :D

The ice cream was served with a blood orange cream in the bottom of the cones and then we had a choice of four toppings of which we could choose two. We both chose the dark chocolate and hazelnut mix, and then I chose freeze dried raspberries while James revisited (if he ever left) his childhood and chose apple flavoured popping candy.

We also got a wonderful orange infused chocolate dessert with our tea, but at that point I was so full it hurt to move my arms so I didn’t take any photos.

The Manadarin Hotel is located right opposite of Harvey Nicks, and lunch is served 12:00pm – 2:30pm. If you’re visiting London over a weekend I would say shopping and a lunch at “Dinner” would make the perfect day! You can also make a reservation for dinner which is served 6:30pm – 10:30pm. Call +44(0)20 7201 3833 for reservation. Website and manu can be found here :)

Hi lovelies ♥

Happy Valentine’s day, and happy birthday to my sister who turns 30 today – woohoo!! :D

Hope you’ve all had a great day so far. James and I decided to not do gifts this year, although he failed because he turned up with flowers but a little bit of romance is ok I guess. The point was more that we wanted to focus on spending some quality time together instead. We decided to get dressed up and celebrate the day as was intended back in the days when announcing ones love for another wasn’t chained to spending lots of money on gifts. I slipped into my newest Alexander McQueen dress and curled my hair with hot rollers (the old fashion way), while he stepped into his suit and didn’t shave (I prefer a couple of days stubs).

IMG 3207 Getting ready for Valentines day

Here is a little sneak peek at part of the dressing room. It’s not finished yet as you can see. Where the gaps are we’re having glass shelved made so it will be a full wardrobe once it’s finished. I think the carpenter is coming in tomorrow to measure it all up, so hopefully it won’t be long until it’s finished. Then I’ll go back to Monaco and collect some more clothes – I really miss my clothes!

IMG 3177 Getting ready for Valentines day

As always before I leave I had to take a last glance at other options incase I missed something that would work better ha ha, anyone else who does that? :) *Little-miss-indecisive*

IMG 3182 Getting ready for Valentines day

Get my look:

The dress is sold out, but I found three quite similar dresses – here, here and here. I wore the dress with Valentino rock stud boots, my new favourites booties :D You can find them here, and similar ones here and here.

IMG 3198 Getting ready for Valentines day

After getting ready we went to Heston Blumenthal at the Mandarin Oriental. We had so much food that I was worried my new and very much loved dress would rip apart, at one point I was actually sure it had and asked James to check the back. I mean, can you imagine the walk of shame out of the restaurant?? Ha ha.. Luckily it was all fine :) I took lots of photos but I won’t show them until tomorrow because now.. drumroll.. we’re going to PAINT! Yup, we’re going to change into something a little more comfortable and then we’re going to paint in the style of Jackson Pollock which basically means paint splattering. We went and bought canvases, paint and brushes after the lunch so we’re all set. It’s going to be magnificent because we’re both really big competitors and I just know we’ll end up secretly competing – should end up with great paintings though ;D

I will report through instagram if you’re interested in seeing how it’s going, and then I’ll post pictures from Heston Blumenthal tomorrow. Lots of love to you all! xx

It’s Valentine’s day tomorrow!! I think there’s way too much focus on love between couples and I think it should be a day of just.. love.. for everyone :) Yes, love for yourself, love for your friends, love for your family, love for the ones you care about and love for life. So instead of making a post about “tips for Valentine’s with your boyfriend”, I wanted to do a post about Valentine’s day for those of you who are planning on celebrating it on your own! Being single doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to be in a relationship, in fact, being single can be quite wonderful as you get to be really selfish without feeling bad about it :D

Do not let a couple-driven culture define your choice as being something wrong.

Sometimes you might even be stuck in a bad relationship just because you’re scared of being alone, but single doesn’t always mean lonely, and relationship doesn’t always mean happy. So ladies, be in control of your own happiness and shine as the beautiful selfes you are :D

valentines day Repost: Valentines day for singles

Pictures found on google, weheartit, pinterest, tumblr, and the Jane Eyre picture: source

If I was celebrating Valentine’s day as single tomorrow I would put on one of those incredible dresses that I never find any occasion to wear, curl my hair and play the playlist of all my favourite songs that I just can’t fight the urge to dance to. I would light nice smelling candles, bake delicious macarons in pastel colours and beautiful cupcakes with lots of cream to go with it while singing out loud. I would jump on the bed and order that special something that I’ve been craving for what seems like a lifetime and that I can’t really afford, which makes my heart race so fast that I can’t fight the urge to dance around untill I’m out of breath! I would do a marathon of my favourite tv-show or read a lovely book while enjoying my delcious macarons and cupcakes with a glass of champagne to go with it! I would probably drink the whole bottle and let myself get tipsy all on my own while painting my nails in a fun pattern, and change my outfit a few times like a true diva would :D I would end the night falling asleep with a big smile on my face knowing that I am able to have fun on my own without a single care in the world! I can say I would because I have done :)

to do valentine1 Repost: Valentines day for singles

Hope you’ll all have a fantastic Valentine’s day tomorrow regardless of with whom you will or will not spend it with :D xx

Ps, does the rss work now? I thought of something that might have caused it… *crossing all fingers*

maintenance Something not up to snuff

Over the past week I’ve received emails about broken rss feeds and posts not even showing on the home page, I’ve also noticed a major drop in reader numbers so Linus and I are on it trying to figure it out. I will be back on once it’s fixed. Please let me know if there is anything else not up to snuff you’ve noticed around here and I’ll put Linus on it :)

EDIT: It’s definitely a broken rss feed, and the site is also showing badly on a phone due to it not being “responsive”. I’ve contacted someone that knows more about rss issues while I’m trying to convert the site to being responsive. Thank you for being so patient!! Hope to be back soon, and I hope you’re having a lovely day! xx

Spring is fast approaching and with that comes lighter fabrics, vibrant colours and playful accessories. It’s all about oversized accessories this season and I’ve got my eyes on oversized colourful earrings to bring some fun into the basics in my wardrobe. Prints are something I will also try to incorporate more of as well. I would love to fill my wardrobe with Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto, but nothing makes me more excited than to find equally beautiful pieces on the highstreet! Just click on the images to buy them.

nail head Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Medium
Party factor: 10

After I posted my New Years Eve outfit I got lots of requests for a makeup tutorial for the makeup look and here it is! Better late than never, right? :D

Products you’ll need:

makeup tutorial Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look
Subculture

1. Start by slapping on some eyeshadow primer. Often you can skip certain steps in makeup tutorials and use what you have, and that includes this tutorial, but this particular step can’t be skipped and you’ll know why if you have an eyeshadow primer in your kit. It helps the shadow stay in place all night and you avoid getting the racoon on heroin look.

start Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

2. Wash a skin toned eyeshadow all over your eyelid using a big fluffy brush, this will be your base and will make it easier to blend the other shadows in the next steps.

step 2 Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

3. Slap on some eyeliner along the lash line. You really don’t have to be very particular about it as we’ll smudge it out in the next step. I’m using a brown eyeliner, you can find it by clicking the image of the product above.

step 3 Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

4. Smudge the eyeliner using a short bristled brush creating a smooth smokey finish to the lash line. It will bring some more attention to the eyes without becoming too dark and overpowering.

step 4 Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

5. Using a medium sized fluffy brush, blend in a dark brown shadow to the outer corner of the eye and into the socket like in the picture above. Blend well in the outer corner. You can also add some more of the nude shadow, or one with a bit of shimmer just to the middle of the eyelid blending inwards.

step 5 Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

6. Line the lash line with a black liquid liner making sure you get the liner in between the lashes as well, also known as tight lining. Add false lashes if you want, my favourites are 113, wispies and demi wispies from Ardell. Today I used the latter. (I buy them in Boots and Ebay)

step 6 Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

7. Using a liquid gold liner line the outer part of your lash line, just above the black liner. Let it dry and go over again until the line is opaque enough. I think i did about 3-4 layers.

finished Makeup Tutorial from my New Years Eve look

8. Do the same under the eye in the inner corner stopping about half way of the eye. As for the face I followed the exact same steps as in this tutorial ;)

9. Et voilá, you’re ready :)

Please share, pin and “like” if you liked this tutorial, it would mean the world to me :D

laduree Prettiness overload

Many of you have asked where I got the Ladurée keychains for my blog give aways, and it is here in le incroyable maison du Ladureé macarons that they are born. Ah, the colours and the cuteness is totally overwhelming! Ladurée sure knows branding, and they’re so good at it that even though I know it’s all branding I get sucked in and I just want to bathe in anything Ladurée all day long, heck I want to indulge in it all through the day every day!

I went in circles trying to wrap my head around how I could use this force of irresistible attraction for good rather than pure selfish indulgence and came up with the brilliant idea of picking up some gifts to bring to Norway before I leave later tonight. Question is, will I be able to leave these pretty babies alone during the flight? ;D

What’s your favourite flavour macaron?
