Hopefully you’ve found a dress (if not check this post and this post), but you’re not sure about what do wear underneath. Maybe you want to shape things a bit? Get a bit of a Kardashian bottom? Find a bra for that low back dress? Or maybe you just want to wear something extra special? I have found some great bits and bobs for you.

I never thought I’s write this on the blog but I actually bought those Kardashian bottom pants a while ago, bahahaha, but I must admit they do make a dress look much better. I think Pippa used a pair like these for the royal wedding, because that is exactly how the bottom looks like when wearing them. At least that’s what I tell myself to feel better about wearing them ;)

Hope you’ve had a great day!!

Knowing I would probably only have time to do one makeup tutorial before Christmas I knew it had to be smokey eyes as it’s my favourite look for late winter nights. I find smokey eye inspiration in the red carpet looks of Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightly, Kristen Stewart and Heidi Klum as I think all these beautiful women always nail the smokey eye look in a way that makes them look both graceful and sexy, as opposed to the much dreaded post bedroom look many people seem to think smokey eyes is.

IMG 9749 Makeup tutorial: Smokey eyes

Smokey eyes step by step:

1. Start with applying an eyeshadow primer to make sure the shadow will stay put all night. Follow up with applying a base shadow in the same shade as your skin all over the lid and under, avoiding the area just above your upper lash line. If you don’t have a matte shadow in the same shade as your skin you can also use a face powder.

2. Apply a black cream base on the lower part of the eye lid concentrating on the lower part and slightly smudging it upwards. No need to be neat, we’ll go over it later. If you don’t have a black cream base an eyeliner will do just fine.

3. Grab a black, dark grey or dark brown shadow and blend the smudged part of the cream eye shadow upwards. Don’t use too much shadow, it’s better to apply little by little to avoid using too much.

4. Use the lightest shade of brown you have and blend it into the black using a window wiping motion, when well blended into the black you can blend it upwards just above the socket line. If you feel the need for more shadow on the lid, this is when you should apply it. The light shade of brown will create a beautiful transition as it mixes with the black and then fades out in its own light shade.

5. Use the same light brown shade underneath the eye to give the eye more of a somewhat rounder shape as this will make your eyes look bigger and more smokey.

6. Line your upper lash line with a liquid or gel liner, and wing it out and up towards the end of your brow. Apply some black shadow on top of the liner to make it matte, this will also make it stay put longer. To give an illusion of bigger and brighter eyes you can apply a small dot of a light shimmer eyeshadow by the tear duct. Apply lashes if you want, and finish off with mascara.

I kept my skin matte using a matte bronzer and a matte blush, I also paired the look with a nude lip as I think that looks best with the smokey eye.

Products I recommend for the smokey eye look:

i recommend Makeup tutorial: Smokey eyes

High quality brushes are a must for blending, these brushes are great and the price is not too bad either – get the kit here // A good shade for sculpting is a necessity for beautiful cheekbones and I LOVE this product – get it here (Taupe) // Save money and get one bronzer for all four seasons (it’s even matte!) – get it here // My favourite dusky rose blush  - get it here (Dolce Vita)

A good makeup palette has a range of colour and finishes, the naked palettes are some of the best on the market – get them here and here // My favourite foundation – get it here // Eyeshadow primer is a must when using eyeshadows and eye liners, it makes the makeup stay until you take it off – get it here // A nude lipstick is the only way to go with a smokey eye and once you’ve tried the YSL lipsticks you’ll never want any other – get it here (01 nude beige)

IMG 97551 Smokey eyes So I did it. The first makeup look in an awful long time is done and I’m probably back editing again as you read this. The editing itself is taking a bit longer than normal as I seem to have forgotten a thing or two, but it should be up by tomorrow :) It’s been a really long time since I played around with a heavier eye makeup so although it took its sweet time applying and taking photos I had a lot of fun doing it!

I’ve been waiting for a couple of deliveries to arrive on the door and kept praying the mail man wouldn’t knock on the door while I was in the middle of smoking my eyes as I’m sure he’d run for the hills if he’d seen me during a couple of the worse steps ehe. Fortunately he came knocking on the door just after James back from his errands, a girl needs a bit of luck now and then ;) One of the boxes contained the most perfect baggy sequinned trousers, and I can’t wait to wear them!! I’ll share some pictures as soon as they’re on! If you’ve been hunting for a pair of perfect baggy sequinned trousers you can find them here.

I should get back to the editing now, just wanted to say hello :)

Hope you’re all doing well, chat soon!

AJ482 SHOT 07 078v2 How to: Sequins and Leather

Leather armed jacket here // Leather top here // Sequin skirt here

Oh my, where to start? Metallics, sequins and leather – this is why I love AllSaints so much! AllSaints is one of my favourite brands and I’m sure you know what I’m talking about when I say no one does high quality gorgeous sequin skirts and lucious leather items like AllSaints, and certainly not at that price! Remember the beautifully sequinned skirt I got this summer? And the gorgeous leather trousers I blogged about? Sigh…

Leather will continue to be big in the next season, and a must have is an all over leather top like the one above. Don’t fall for the temptation of saving on cheap material PU leather, there is a huge difference (yes, I’m speaking from experience). A sequin skirt is also a must have in any wardrobe, and fortunately someone with a brilliant mind made sure that the days where sequins were only worn for special occasions are long gone. Sequins in the daytime, paired with edgy leather, is the look du jour.

Have you got yourself some leather and sequins in your wardrobe yet? :)

proenza schouler New in Proenza Schouler

How gorgeous are these?? Leather and calf hair gladiators wrapped around suntanned legs… they were such a good buy that I nearly fell off the chair – 70% off down from €915 to €274.50, weeee!!! Found here of course ;)

Gladiator sandals were seen all over the runway for the spring/summer collections for 2013. I remember they were a big trend just a few years ago and a friend of mine bought the most beautiful black gladiator sandals which looked amazing on her never ending model legs. A pair of gladiator sandals gives a certain effortless edge to any outfit! I was so envious of those sandals and swore I would buy the next pair I loved! Although this pair isn’t exactly your average pair of gladiator sandals I instantly fell in love when I saw them online and threw myself at the credit cards to order a pair asap.

Here are some of my favourite gladiator sandals from SS/2013:

today instagram My Thursday through Instagram

1. I’m wearing a beaded bomber jacket from Zara, t-shirt from Splendid, leather trousers from Asos (the ones I’ve been blogging so much about which I totally adore and are on sale now) and Christian Louboutin spiked pigalle shoes.
2. Christmas has come to Metropole shopping center!! I’m such a sucker for Christmas decoration and walked around the center with the biggest child like smile spread all over my face.
3. That silly child like smile became even bigger and more stupid when the lovely Princess Charlene sat down on the table next to us. She looks really pretty irl even when she’s not all done up. Her body guard wasn’t too happy about me snapping a photo of her, but I just couldn’t resist :D
4. New shoes!!! I got some new shoes from Proenza Schouler in the mail today :D I will share the inside with you tomorrow because….

I will have the camera tomorrow!! I marched in to the camera shop to give them a hard time about taking such a long time to fix the camera and then it turns out it’s on its way already and I should have it tomorrow. I am so excited to finally have the camera back!

I have still not changed my mind about not being as personal as I used to be, and I hope you understand that, but I know you’ve been missing some more personal posts so it feels nice to be able to share some more with you again :)

Now James and I are in front of the tv watching American Idol, so I should probably put away the computer.

I hope you’ve had a great day! Chat soon :*

redy for xmas The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2

Budget sequin dress HERE // Budget beading and applique dress HERE // Affordable luxury tweed dress HERE // Luxury mesh dress HERE // Luxury bandage dress HERE

All red hues are big for this season, and what better time than Christmas to wear a red dress? I would stay away from plain jersey stretch types and dresses with a lot of legs and cleavage and opt for classy styles as a red dress is already quite “out there”. I love all of the dresses above, and all three of the luxury designer dresses are on sale and of great value!

As for accessories I think red and gold makes such a beautiful and classy colour combo, and perfect for Christmas!

sexy back1 The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2

Glitter back HERE // Lace back HERE // Short glitter back HERE // Embroidered open back HERE // Open back HERE

I’m a huge fan of sexy backs on dresses (or tops) from intricate designs to illusion backs, to beautiful beadworks and embroidery, to completely backless. I view it as the new and more sophisticated take on the cleavage.

Having the hair worn up is absolutely obligatory imo. If an open back dress is very plain I think a long necklace on the back can make a very decorative accessory (like I did in this post). However, if the dress is already beaded or laced I think a pair of long earrings will give a cute look.

bejewelled lbd The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2

Bejewelled shoulder HERE // Bejewelled arms HERE // Bejewelled front HERE // Bejewelled neck HERE // Bejewelled front HERE

The LBD is always a winner (see the other LBDs here), and Christmas is the perfect time to take it up a anotch and add that little extra sparkle.

baroqueen The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2

Black and nude baroque HERE // Black and silver embellished baroque HERE // Nude and Persian blue baroque by Tracy Reese HERE and HERE// Black and burgundy baroque HERE // Black and forest green baroque HERE

That nude dress with the Persian blue embellished print is the most beautiful dress I have seen in a really long time and it stole at least 5 hours of my life which I spent on searching the whole www for a store with it still in stock. Unfortunately it is sold out everywhere, but I wanted to include it anyway in case they would get it back in stock. If they do it’s definitely coming home to me! I can’t believe how gorgeous it is!!

As for accessories I think nude or black heels works best depending on the main colour of the dress and not too much jewellery as the dress itself has so much going on already. A nice pair of earrings would give just enough sparkle.

sequin patterns The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2 Sequin peplum HERE // Metallic sequin HERE (love!!) // Black sequin HERE // Black long sleeve sequin HERE // Metallic sequin HERE

A fun take on the all over sequin dress is the sequinned pattern dress. Somehow the pattern makes it more sophisticated I think. As with the other sequinned dresses I think the accessroies should be kept fairly simple as the dress has enough going on.

two piece The 2013 party wear guide – Budget vs Luxury – Part 2

Look 1: Black real leather trousers HERE (I have them and LOVE them!) // Balmain inpired top HERE (how fantastic is that top??) //  Sleek real patent leather court shoes HERE
Look 2: Sequin top with a sheer bare back HERE //  Sequin pattern skirt HERE // Real leather boots HERE

Maybe you don’t like to wear a dress? Or maybe a dress is just a little bit over the top for the night you have ahead of you. Either way, trousers and skirts are perfect for when you want to be dressed a little nicer than normal but a dress would be too much. If you’re a cool tomboy kind of girl I think the sequinned skirt would look fantastic with a distressed rock’n'roll kinda tank top like in this picture from Vogue Spain! Love it!

Anything you like? :D

I’ve been asked to do some more makeup posts recently, so I thought I’d share a few favourites of mine as well as a couple of cravings with you. Since I did international online shops last time, I thought I’d do one for my Norwegian readers too :)

gift ideas Christmas sparkle

1. Lulu’s toiletry bag (need this!) // 2. Pukka Tea (Such a cute gift to bring a friend!) // 3. Blax hair bands (this makes all the difference to the outcome of the braid and pony tail – used here and here) // 4. Too Faced glitter (obligatory sparkle for Christmas)

5. Mason Pearson brush (LOVE this so much! -review here!) // 6. Seche Vite (dries your nail polish instantaneously) // 7. Lulu’s make up bag (need this too to keep in my hand bag!) // 8. Meet Matte eyeshadow palette (matte eyeshadows are to a makeup bag what a LBD is to a closet).

I would imagine some of these things would also make wonderful Christmas gifts for friends as well :)
