I know some of you don’t have Instagram and miss out on some of the fun, so here you are, my latest photos from Instagram. Just click on the images to make them bigger.

Most of the photos are from Dubai obviously, there are just way too many beautiful colours to capture! I don’t remember if I mentioned it on the blog, but I was so positively surprised by Dubai this time. I’ve been to Dubai a couple of times before but I haven’t been very comfortable and I’ve even chosen to stay home some of the times James has gone. That will never happen again, I can’t wait to go to Dubai again! I think it might have something to do with the places we’ve been. James knows a lot of local people and the places we’ve gone are very different to the places most of the tourists go. We’ve never really had any time for lying on the beach or strolling carelessly around the malls. Once a backpacker always a backpacker by heart, having backpacked for months as younger searching for something undiscovered I never thought I would ever prefer to go to typical tourist places in any country, but in Dubai it’s different. I actually prefer the tourist places!

Btw, how amazing are the ASOS printed trousers in blue and green? They are my favourite trousers at the moment, and the best purchase I’ve done since I scored the pink Alexander McQueen dress that won me the “best dressed” title in the Dubai World Cup royal box on theoutnet. Woop, I managed to squeeze it in once more he he ;)

Hey sweets!

I’m on my way to coffee with friends, just thought I’d pop by and say hi :) I hope you’re having a fabulous day so far! I started mine way too early, but I have no reason to complain, I woke up by the smell of freshly baked bread buns – ha ha, brings back so many memories! I’ve eaten no less than 7 buns and my tummy is twitching in pain like crazy, but it was worth it ;) Tomorrow I go back to London already, time flies…time flies…

I’m supposed to meet the girls in five minutes and I hate to be late so I need to go, hope you’re having a fantastic day!! Chat later  xx

I love that London is only a couple of hours away. It’s perfect! :)

Hope you’ve had a great start to the week! xx

christopher kane black blouse with tape appliques product 1 6057915 491657247 large flex DIY Christopher Kane Tape Top

When I first saw the Christopher Kane collection I was in awe, I thought it was so beautiful, innovative and fun! At a closer glance I noticed a top with tape across on the front and on the shoulders, and I thought it could make for a fun DIY so I ordered some tape on Amazon and found a plain t-shirt to try it out on. The Christopher Kane top is more of a blouse top with buttons on the back, but I’m a t-shirt girl so I’m quite happy with a t-shirt so that’s what I’ll be using.

IMG 6346 DIY Christopher Kane Tape Top

You’ll need:

  • A plain white t-shirt or blouse with a round neck
  • Some black tape, I bought mine here (£1.34)
  • A pair of scissors

Proceed with your project like this: Lay your top out in front of you and start cutting up tape bits. Place the tape bits across on the front and on the shoulders like in the photo, slightly overlapping now and then.

Et volia! Your master piece is done :)

Hi Everyone!

Hope you’re having a great Sunday? Today I’ve had my hands busy with a little DIY project inspired by one of the amazing pieces from the Christopher Kane collection, the £405 tape appliqué top. It turned out pretty great if I may say so myself! What do you think?

 I’m wearing:

Coat – Zara
T-shirt – DIY Christopher Kane SS13 inspired
Jeans – 7 for all mankind
Boots – My mums
Bag – Céline phantom
Hat – Also knicked from my mum

IMG 6381 OOTD

As you know I don’t mind spending money on clothes if they are timeless and of great quality, whilst trend items I know with myself will bore me after a couple of wears and therefor I just can’t bare spending lots of money on it. This top, albeit a little different fabric and back and such, is £405 from Christopher Kane whilst my version is far less. That makes me happy :)

What do you think of my tape top? Tutorial tomorrow? :)

background Beauty Awards March

I hope you’re having a great Saturday morning? I’ve started mine with a breakfast feast only mothers know how to make and am completely stuffed as I sit here and type. A reader kindly reminded me about being late for The Beauty Award this month, so here it is a little late. Truth is I haven’t changed a thing in my routine other than purchasing a new Dior Addict lipstick on the airport on my way to Norway and it’s too early to tell if I like it or not, but if I do it’ll be an addition to the next month Beauty Awards anyway I guess. So maybe it’s little boring this month, but at least they are genuine favourites:

Makeup

makeup award Beauty Awards March

1. YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation.

Still my favourite! My skin is very sensitive and I break out very easily, however, this has proven to be safe. It provides medium coverage, feels and looks like skin and gives the most beautiful dewy glow. I use shade B30. Get it here.

2. Laura Mercier Primer

I’ve been meaning to get this for the longest time, and finally I got it when I was at the airport. I really like it as it smooths out the skin and makes the foundation look better and stay on for longer. I also love that it’s oil free! Get it here.

3. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

A long time favourite which is also safe for sensitive skin, at least for mine. I use this on areas without blemishes and scars, and use the foundation (mentioned above) only on the areas where I need coverage – it gives a natural appearance which I like. It gives the skin a beautiful healthy look without making the skin look oily. I use shade Sand. I also just got the oil free one which seems to be pretty similar, only al little thicker in consistency. You can get it here.

4. Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara and Art Liner

I’m a big fan of Lancome’s mascaras and have been for years! Normally I use the Hypnose previous cells but a friend convinced me to try this and it really is amazing! The brush is wide on one side and flat on the other making it easy to reach the roots of your lashes and the shorter hairs, making your lashes look fuller. The art liner has the perfect tip to line the lash line, it’s easy to make both a thin line and a thicker line. Get the mascara here and the liner here.

5. Mac Pinch Me Blush

I have two favourite blushes, that is Mac Pinch Me and Nars Dolce Vita, they are my go to blushes. Last month and this month I’ve been using Pinch me simply because it happend to end up in my makeup bag. I barely dot the brush in the pan (I like to use this brush for blushes btw) and lightly dust in onto my cheeks. Little by little :) Get Mac Pinch Me here, and Nars Dolce Vita here.

6. Mac Blotpowder

My t-zone sometimes get a bit oily, so normally I just use blotting paper to get rid of the shine. However, when I came across the blotpowder by Mac I was intrigued as it doesn’t have any colour – it just takes the shine away which is exactly what I want. Get it here.

7. Mac Studio Sculpt concealer

This is hands down the best concealer for covering up. Because it’s hard to sterilize pots I just buy new ones now and then, and this month I discovered they’ve stopped producing this wonderful concealer!!! I really hope they will be replacing it with something similar and even better!  I use a small tapered brush to apply it and use a bit of Mac blotpowder to make it stay put.

8. Mac Subculture

Probably the product you ask about the most, even James commented he likes it and he rarely comments my makeup. I use it to fill in my lips and it gives a great matte nude lip! I highly recommend it :) Get it here.

Skin care

skin care feb Beauty Awards March

1. Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser

I love this so much!! If you read my blog this week you’ve probably already read my review, if not you can check it out here. This cleanser is especially great for sensitive skin, it removes makeup easily whilst still not stripping the skin for moisture. And the smell… my god.. it’s heavenly! ♥ Multi award winning for a reason I guess he he. Get it here.

2. Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Creme with spf 15

This moisturiser transformed my skin from moderate acne to almost free of blemishes in only days! I have never seen anything like it before and I’m so thankful I found this. It’s for normal/combination skin and moisturises while still letting the skin breathe. The spf is for both UVA and UVB rays, meaning it protects from both aging and burning rays. You can read more about it in my review, hereGet it here.

3. Ole Henriksen Truth Collagen Booster

Another multi award winning product. This serum is packed with c-vitamins and antioxidants which helps rebuild the skin tissue, and this is a must have if you’re looking to slow down the aging process or even out the skin tone. Read more about it in my review hereGet it here.

4. Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

This is actually used to prep the skin of celebrities and models before they hit the red carpet and I totally get why – it’s like a skin brightening treatment in a jar! Love this! I use this overnight and it feels wonderful to wake up to a bright and awake face. I didn’t expect it to, but it has actually brightened some of my scars and evened out my skin tone since I started using it. Get it here.

5. Ole Henriksen Walnut Complexion Scrub

YUM! This stuff smells so good! I use this once-twice a week to get rid of old skin cells and clean pores thoroughly to avoid black heads. A must have! Get it here.

6. Ole Henriksen Visual Truth Eye Creme

I hate to admit it but I’ve started seeing lines around my eyes, the kind of lines that doesn’t go away when you stop smiling :/ I doubt I have less lines now that I’ve started using this, but I haven’t noticed an increase at least and it seems to depuff my eyes which is good in the morning! Get it here.

Hair care

hair awards Beauty Awards March

1. Phillip Kingsley Body Building Volume Shampoo

I love Phillip Kingsley’s treatments and conditioners so I wanted to try a shampoo too and this one has quickly become my new fav volume shampoo! It makes the hair light without stripping off moisture, LOVE! Get it here.

2. Phillip Kinglsey Conditioner Moisture Balance

It’s unbelievable how soft it makes my hair, almost like a hair mask only you get much more product for your money :) Get it here.

3. Kerastase Forcintense

I’ve used this for probably about 7 years or so now and it’s still my favourite for when my hair really needs that bit of extra attention, which normally is proteins. The treatment is divided in two, first step is to nurture the hair follicle and second is to lock in the proteins. This is some serious hair salon stuff and I always feel like I’m spoling my hair whenever I use it. I can’t recommend it enough! Get it here.

4. Kerastase Ciment Thermique

Heat protectant and heat activating hair mask in one! It smells really good, makes my hair soft and easy managable and protects against heat – what’s not to love? Get it here.

5. Kérastase Nutritive masqueintense

A great mask for when moisture is needed! I only use it in the ends of my hair and so it lasts forever despite the fact that I use it almost every time I wash my hair. Both this and the Kerastase Forcintense mentioned above are must haves if you don’t want the hair dresser to cut off your locks! Get it here.

6. John Masters Organics deep scalp follicle treament and volumiser

I’ve written a review about this one too, you can read it here if you missed it. The photos in the review tells better than any words, my hair started growing insanely faster after I started using this. To be honest it doesn’t provide that much volume, but the health of the sclap and the growth of the hair is tremendous! Definitely a must have if you’re saving for long hair! Get it here.

7. Diva hot air styler

I’ve written a review on this not too long ago, if you missed it you can read it here. It’s a salon blow dry at home basically! Really easy to use, easier on the hair than curling irons and good value for the money. Get it here.

8. Clip in hair extension

I’d prefer to keep this to my self as it’s one of those things you like to pretend to be real, but I do sometimes cheat when it comes to my hair. I find clip ins the perfect solution for me as it both looks and feels perfectly real and is easy and quick to apply, yet I don’t have to sleep with it or work out with it. I use the shade 60/24 – Sandy Blonde, a full set + quad clip, you can get it here.

I have written a long list of products you’ve recommended in the comment section of the previous Beauty Awards on my phone to try next I run out of something, but I would still love to hear your favourites! Word of mouth is the best way to discover a product, right? ♥ xx

IMG 6119 50 shades of turquoise in Dubai

Hi sweets! Hope you’re all having a lovely day and early start to the weekend? I’m really enjoying my time in Norway with family, and the weather is amazing. I totally screwed up my packing and could have easily swapped some thick sweaters with a bikini! Not kidding, on the balcony it’s so hot I die in my jeans!

I realised I haven’t shared the last chunk of photos from Dubai, and in my opinion the most beautiful ones, so here are finally the photos from our last day in Dubai. We spent the last few hours in a boat around the Venetian style canal surrounding the hotel we stayed at, Jumeirah Madinat. Turquoise is my favourite colour and has been since I was really young, and the most beautiful thing I can think of that my eyes will ever get tired of staring at is the sea – especially when it’s of several shades from green to blue. It’s magic!

The hotel also has a turtle rehabilitation center where they rehabilitate sick and injured turtles, tag them and then release them into their natural habitat to track their pattern and make sure they are safe. I love turtles and their old looking faces, so cute!

Trousers – Asos HERE
Shoes – Nicholas Kirkwood HERE

Watch – Cartier
Necklace – Pinctada

Today is my mum’s birthday so we’re going to my sister’s place to celebrate both my mum and the new family member, my sister’s little princess. I will be making another bash of the delicious salad I made yesterday ;)

I have to say you’ve been so amazing at leaving comments recently, and I feel so bad for not having had the time to respond to you in Dubai and now here as I’m with family. Know that I read all your comments and I truly appreciate each and every one! You are the best ♥ Once I’m back in London and things settle a little I will have more time.

What do you think of my outfit and printed silk trousers? Lots of love xx

IMG 17852 Skinny food: Raw spicy salmon salad

Portions: 2
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 min
Gluten Free
Dairy Free
Low Carb

To be honest, I don’t cook very often as cooking hasn’t been very much of a priority while moving and travelling.. obviously ;) I’ve been pretty spoilt with great restaurants in London, Monaco and while travelling so I do mentally save lots of great dishes in my cooking folder in my head as I discover new dishes, and this salmon salad has been on the top of my list to recreate. I whipped up this super easy salad in no time to surprise my mum today and both my mum and I were very pleased with the outcome and emptied the entire bowl completely! It was so incredibly delicious, not to mention perfectly healthy too! I shared this photo on Instagram and it seemed a recipe was requested so here you are:

Salmon Salad ingredients:

  • 250g Fresh Salmon back loin filet (I used Salma Laks here in Norway)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/3 mango
  • 1/3 cucumber
  • Mesclun salad
  • 1 red chili (optional)
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp salt and pepper

It’s simple. Dice all the ingredients and mix in a bowl, add the juice and add salt and pepper to your taste. That’s all. Of course you can tweek it to your liking by adding vegetables you like, and if you’re a shrimp fan you can always replace the salmon with shrimp :)

Hope you enjoy! xx

Hope you’ve had a great day so far? I took so many photos in Dubai that I will keep posting some for a coupe of weeks. The days were just packed from morning to evening and some of the days I wore four different outfits – how insane right? Insane in a good way of course ;) Here is the outfit I wore for the beach party with the Sheikh.

IMG 5894 Beach Party with The Sheikh

What do you wear for a “relaxed soiree on the beach” with the Sheikh and his guests flown in from all over the world? Pink of course. As Audrey Hepburn once said:

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles. -Audrey Hepburn

IMG 5925 Beach Party with The Sheikh

IMG 5935 Beach Party with The Sheikh

IMG 5978 Beach Party with The Sheikh

I’ve learnt that a pearl and some diamonds radiance utter sophistication. I reckon I will get good use of this necklace, I love it so much already!

IMG 5952 Beach Party with The Sheikh

Tom Ford sandals. These are one of my top three favourite shoes, they are perfection as far as sandals go. No picture can do them justice! In my opinion a great pair of gold sandals is a must have!

I wore:

Thakoon dress – found here, similar cheaper option here
Tom Ford heels – similar here
Necklace – Pinctada
Sunglasses – Dolce & Gabbana (new season and not online yet as far as I know) similar cheaper option here
Ring – Bulgari
Watch – Cartier

As we were walking out of the room James made me change my shoes into something without heels as it was “on the beach after all”. For some strange reason I listened to him. Note to self: Never listen to guys about fashion. I was of course the only one (except a few ladies over 60) who wore flat shoes….

IMG 5936 Beach Party with The Sheikh

Now I’m all packed and ready for Norway! Both my mum and my sister have sent me lots of baby pictures and I’m not saying this just because she’s my niece but she is so perfect! Unbelievably beautiful! I went to the baby section in Harrods yesterday and my oh my are there many cute things for newborns :O

Better get going.. I still haven’t packed for Norway! How is the weather home in Norway btw?

Chat soon! Lots of love xx

The prize for “Best Dressed Lady” in the Dubai World Cup royal box was a beautiful pearl and diamond necklace from Pinctada. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it, it’s absolutely gorgeous and such a classic design and it will be with me for the rest of my life! <3

IMG 6254 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

IMG 6248 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

Susan Frost, the charismatic and amazing Australian woman behind Pinctada, kindly agreed to meet up with James and I in one of her shops to look for some earrings to go with the necklace and tell us some more about the brand and pearls. She told me about how she’s been in Dubai for 20 years and how much has changed. What is now known as the Dubai Marina was a fish market and of course none of the new developments had even been thought about. It’s really astonishing how rapidly Dubai has grown into becoming such a sensational city! James thinks that it is nothing short of an economic miracle.

IMG 5987 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

Pinctada by Mina A’Salam Madinat Jumeirah

It all started in a pearl shop in Australia for Susan. She had a keen eye for pearls and was given an opportunity to become a wholeseller of amazing pearls from Australia, and she become known as the pearl lady in the social scene in Dubai. The business grew rapidly thanks to her beautiful south sea pearls and since then she has become well established in Dubai with several shops including one situated in the grand atrium of Dubai Mall right between Cartier and Van der Cleefs.

IMG 5983 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

IMG 5986 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

With so many beautiful designs it was hard for me to choose one pair of earrings to go with the necklace, but after having tried some on I fell for the simple studs as they are elegant and versatile. James, also known as the best boyfriend in the world, surprised me by getting them for me :D Susan told me that 60% of her clients purchase of her again, and I think I will fall into her statistics as I would very much love to have a pair of diamond and pearl earrings to go with the necklace for dressier events and I feel confident Pinctada is the best place to get pearls from.

IMG 6270 The prize for Best Dressed Lady

I’ve always loved pearls and I know pearls for some reason look good on me, I’ve just never really understood why – until today. Susan told me just like makeup can brighten your eyes, so can pearls as they bring out the white in your eyes and teeth. It’s really brilliant and such a simple yet elegant way of accessorising to bring out your natural beauty!

You can find Pinctada several places in Dubai, for more information click here.

What do you think of pearls?
