Geometrical patterns has become one of the biggest stand out trends for Spring, and a checkered dress is a must! I’ve been looking for a nice one which doesn’t engulf my credit card completely as I don’t see the reson in investing too much into such a trend piece. When I came across this chiffon dress my heart skipped a beat. It’s… perfect, and very inexpensive too :) The fact that it’s chiffon fabric made me click the order button. I can’t wait for it to arrive!! As I was browsing the web I came across even more pretty things and decided to share them with you as I know some of you like-minded fashion addicts out there like these posts :D

As always the images are clickable, and I’ve added links underneath as well in case you’d run into trouble on a mobile device :D

Good morning lovelies ♥

This morning I’ve just been lying in bed since I woke up at 06.30 browsing online shops and fashion sites. I’ve been drooling over the new Sophia Webster and Nicholas Kirkwood collections, and made quite the wish list of items I’ll probably never be able to own. But one can always dream :)

How I wish I could invite the Spring in wearing this outfit:

Peter Pilotto Trousers // Alexander McQueen T-shirt // Bottega Veneta clutch // Peter Pilotto for Nicholas Kirkwood shoes // Oscar de la Renta Sunglasses // Balenciaga leather bracelet // Cartier Panther ring // Rolex Daytona

As much as I love Mary Katrantzou and her innovative patterns, I also love Peter Pilotto and his wonderful designs. And don’t get me started on the shoes designed for Nicholas Kirkwood, how amazing are they?? Sigh..

I should probably drag myself out of bed and onto my new beautiful treadmill. It finally arrived on Saturday and it felt incredibly good to run yesterday, though I definitely noticed it’s been a while since I ran if you know what I mean ;) Thank God we still have a few months left until the bikini season kicks in!

Hope you’re having a great morning! Chat soon xx

Yesterday I bought myself a shiny new pair of red soles at Selfridges. To me the black Christian Louboutin Pigalle is the ultimate wardrobe staple as a nice pair of pointy black heels with a sexy red sole will look great with almost any outfit. No platform, no open toe, no fuss. Just a sleek sexy classic.

IMG 3494 Sole mate

They run small in size so I usually go up a whole size if not one and a half. I know I’m not alone in feeling they’re made a bit snug around the toes, so if you’re looking for a quick fix to stretch the leather slightly, I’ve got just the thing!

Pop a small bag of water inside the tip of the shoe and place it in the freezer. As the water freezes it expands, and so does the leather. Voilá, you’ve got a much more comfy shoe! It works best on normal leather, so don’t try it for your patent leather heels.

Now that these beauties have found their place in my new wardrobe in London I realise I definitely need a pair in nude as well. We all know what a pair of nude heels can do to legs, don’t we?

IMG 34932 Sole mate

We also know what a pair of any kind of heels can do to our feet by the end of the day/night too, right? You see, I love high heels and although I know my feet are better off without I simply can’t resist. Unfortunately I’m not one of those who can walk on high heels for hours and hours so I have a little trick up my sleeve… or actually more like in my clutch ;)

IMG 3504 Sole mate

I have written about these before, but I feel I can’t rave enough about this flats. I couldn’t survive without them, they are my sole mates (pun intended mihi)! The sole is divided into two meaning you can fold them over and easily fit them into your hand bag or even clutch. They fit perfectly into a YSL Belle du Jour which is pretty small. They are a dream to walk in, especially when your feet feel swollen and sore after having been forced into a chamber of pain all day.

I have two pairs, black stingray and now also red ostrich ♥

IMG 3415 Lets talk hair

I’ve received lots of questions about my hair recently so I thought I’d share my hair routine and how I style it as well as little hair secrets I’ve picked up along the way. So this is for the hair obsessed out there ;)

The top secret to full and fabulous hair is to stop highlighting and colouring your hair, maybe not a secret, but it really damages your hair far more that you’re aware. Highlights kill your hair more than anything in the chemical process! Two years ago I stopped highlighting my hair and it has made such a dramatic difference. Not only does my hair feel much healthier, but it’s also much thicker as well due to less breakage. I also avoid brushing the hair while wet as the hair is much more prone to breaking while wet.

Equally important is treating your hair with moisture and proteins, and let’s not forget the scalp as an unhealthy scalp won’t produce as healthy hair as a happy scalp. My favourite hair treatments are:

hair treatments Lets talk hair

Kerastase Forcintense – HERE // Philip Kingsley Elastiziser - HERE // Kérastase Masquintense - HERE // Philip Kingsley Stimulating Scalp Mask - HERE

I use the Forcintense about every 2 weeks, Elastisizer and Scalp Mask before every hair wash and Masquintense after every shampooing. When shampooing I only wash the scalp and top half of hair to avoid stripping the lengths of moisture, I learnt that from an article I read about Gisele Bundchen years ago. Oh, while we’re on about celebrity hair routines, Jennifer Lopez sleeps with the hair mask overnight to get maximum moisture. Personally I find my hair becomes a little heavy for my fine scandinavian hair type, but if you have thicker hair it’s probably great.

As for styling I’m too vain to stay off all electrical tools, but avoiding them completely will mean you don’t dry out your hair and the result of that is soft and healthy hair. I manage to stay away from the worst kinds, which are curling irons and flat iron, and only cheat with a hot air styler once or twice a week or every second hair wash. Before that I prep my hair with:

hair styling Lets talk hair

Kérastase Ciment Thermique – HERE // John M Organics scalp toner and volumiser – HERE // Moroccan Oil – HERE

The Ciment Thermique is actually a heat activating mask and it makes the hair incredibly soft once the hot air styler has brushed through. I could never survive without this. The Scalp Toner helps my hair grow faster and keep my scalp happy through the day. Moroccan oil is the last finishing touch to give the locks that lustrous shine at the same time as it protects the hair and holds moisture in. I like to squeeze it in to the hair rather than swiping it through.

IMG 34161 Lets talk hair

I forgot my beloved hot air styler in Monaco so I went to Boots to find something similar and it works ok, but I prefer the previous one which can be found here.

IMG 3466 Lets talk hair

And that’s all folks. Btw, did you notice the incredibly beautiful blouse I’m wearing today? I’m completely obsessed about it and I can’t believe how cheap it was! Because I’m so in love with it I’m just going to assume you are too and I’m going to beat you to it before you ask where it’s from – you can find it here. It’s almost a pity wearing the hair down because the back is my favourite part, whispering little songs of spring ♥

Hope you found the post useful and that you’re enjoying your weekend :) xx

IMG 3376 Argentinian Ice Cream, so cool its hot

I’m aware it’s way too early in the year to rave about ice cream, but this place is just too delicious to save until spring decides to bloom. On Sunday, after having endulged in a big fat unhealthy (but gluten free) pizza on Piccadilly Circus, we stumbled across Freggo ice cream shop with Argentinian ice cream on our way home. As the lunatics we are we decided to look it up to see if it really was worth the calories. It turns out it’s received massive amounts of great reviews from all over including Daily Mail, Style Magazine, Mayfair Times, Olive Magazine and a ton of blogs.

For starters the ice cream at Freggo consists only of natural ingredients and as a result it allegedly contains nearly half the amount of calories than the ice cream you’ll find in the supermarket. What’s more, Freggo only use selected Argentinean cows to source their milk, meaning that they’re able to control the conditions in which they are milked. Only ‘happy’ cows are chosen to contribute to the crème de la crème of Freggo’s main business venture; ice cream. – whereandnow.com

Natural ingredients, less calories and more delicious? Let’s get the biggest tray! We got vanilla, passion fruit, berries and cream, dulce de leche, white chocolate and chocolate. Yum, nom nom! They were all delicious, but if I had to pick favourites I would say passion fruit, chocolate and dulce leche.

IMG 3375 copy Argentinian Ice Cream, so cool its hot

We got the ice creams in a take away tub which held the ice cream cold surprisingly well. I reckon going to Freggo in the summer and buying a tray to bring to the park will make you the most popular in an instant.

A dress by Mary Katrantzou (or a skirt or a top or anything really) is at the top of my wish list at the moment. I love the patterns and how it’s completely different to anything else. Last season the collection was a little Alice in wonderland-y and this year it’s inspired by travels with stamps and birds and even unicorns ♥ The way the patterns are wrapped around the feminine silhouette is so cleaver!

I’ve already tried on the first dress and it’s amazing!! Can’t decide which one to go for, I think my favourites are the first one, second one, third and fifth one.

So far it seems none of the online stores have the full collection, and some even have a waitlist. You can find Mary Katrantzou herehere, here, here, here, and here.

What do you think of Mary Katrantzou?

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know I posted a picture of a cute little black box with a braided ribbon not long ago. Inside the box was a black python shark tooth belt with gold details by Givenchy :D It’s my newest little treasure and I absolutely love wearing it with coats. I think a belt can spice up a a black coat in a fun and edgy way, and make an all over black look become much more interesting.

I had a really lovely time with the girls yesterday (outfit on Instagram) and I’m so thrilled to have met such nice people already. London is only getting better and better! We went for Japanese at a place called Wabi in Covent Garden, it’s a fairly new place and the food was really nice (but quite small portions). I didn’t bring the camera because I wanted to have a girls dinner and just chat and laugh, but next time I go (and I’m sure I will) I will bring the camera :)

Now I’m off buying more paint for our Valentine’s day project which has grown to become more of a winter project really, and maybe some paint remover as the paint has managed to reach the floor despite our 5x5m cover-up. Oh well, it’s great fun – highly recommended ;)

I hope you’re having a really nice weekend! xx

Thank you so much for all your kind words on my outfit yesterday, both here on the blog and on Instagram, you are the sweetest readers! ♥ I hope you all had a great day yesterday. As promised I’ve put together the best pictures from our date night at Heston Blumenthal’s restaurant “Dinner” at the Manadarin Hotel in London. The restaurant not only serves delicious food, but the thought is to renew ancient British recipes and use modern techniques to bring them to life with Heston’s usual flair, of course.

After a quick drink in the bar we were given what must have been the best place in the restaurant, a seat with a view to the kitchen :D It’s incredibly fun to watch them work and fire was all over the place several times (purposely, not like when I have fire in the kitchen…).

Someone’s very excited…

Looking sharp. James wore one of the new Hermès ties I got him for Christmas ♥ Isn’t it beautiful?

rice saffron Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Hotel London

To start we shared a “Rice and Flesh” which was out of this world. I’m a big sucker for saffron so serve me anything with saffron and I’m all yours, but this was exceptionally good. It was a saffron risotto with tender little calf tails. Brilliant.

story Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Hotel London

We also shared a Hay Smokey Mackerel with Lemon salad, gentleman’s relish & olive oil, which was lovely as well. Notice the details on the plate, it’s little wonders of food art.

As a main I chose Cod in Cider with Chard & fired mussels which was buttery soft and melted in my mouth. It was beautifully done!

Served to the other side of the table was one of the best steaks I’ve ever tried, the Hereford Ribeye. With the steak James got triple cooked fries which were so yummy I didn’t even get to snap a photo of them before they were gone. Triple cooked means a start of boil, then brought to fry and then finished off in the oven – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

When it was time for dessert there were no question about what we were going to have. James is the biggest ice cream fan on the planet so the liquid nitrogen ice cream invented by Heston Blumenthal himself was the obvious choice. I promised our lovely French waitor I would make a gif of the process so you readers could see the cool process properly.

First custard is poured in..

custard Heston Blumenthal at Mandarin Hotel London

Next is hand-cranking with the addition of the liquid nitrogen to produce a smooth vanilla ice cream. Pretty cool, huh? :D

The ice cream was served with a blood orange cream in the bottom of the cones and then we had a choice of four toppings of which we could choose two. We both chose the dark chocolate and hazelnut mix, and then I chose freeze dried raspberries while James revisited (if he ever left) his childhood and chose apple flavoured popping candy.

We also got a wonderful orange infused chocolate dessert with our tea, but at that point I was so full it hurt to move my arms so I didn’t take any photos.

The Manadarin Hotel is located right opposite of Harvey Nicks, and lunch is served 12:00pm – 2:30pm. If you’re visiting London over a weekend I would say shopping and a lunch at “Dinner” would make the perfect day! You can also make a reservation for dinner which is served 6:30pm – 10:30pm. Call +44(0)20 7201 3833 for reservation. Website and manu can be found here :)

Hi lovelies ♥

Happy Valentine’s day, and happy birthday to my sister who turns 30 today – woohoo!! :D

Hope you’ve all had a great day so far. James and I decided to not do gifts this year, although he failed because he turned up with flowers but a little bit of romance is ok I guess. The point was more that we wanted to focus on spending some quality time together instead. We decided to get dressed up and celebrate the day as was intended back in the days when announcing ones love for another wasn’t chained to spending lots of money on gifts. I slipped into my newest Alexander McQueen dress and curled my hair with hot rollers (the old fashion way), while he stepped into his suit and didn’t shave (I prefer a couple of days stubs).

IMG 3207 Getting ready for Valentines day

Here is a little sneak peek at part of the dressing room. It’s not finished yet as you can see. Where the gaps are we’re having glass shelved made so it will be a full wardrobe once it’s finished. I think the carpenter is coming in tomorrow to measure it all up, so hopefully it won’t be long until it’s finished. Then I’ll go back to Monaco and collect some more clothes – I really miss my clothes!

IMG 3177 Getting ready for Valentines day

As always before I leave I had to take a last glance at other options incase I missed something that would work better ha ha, anyone else who does that? :) *Little-miss-indecisive*

IMG 3182 Getting ready for Valentines day

Get my look:

The dress is sold out, but I found three quite similar dresses – here, here and here. I wore the dress with Valentino rock stud boots, my new favourites booties :D You can find them here, and similar ones here and here.

IMG 3198 Getting ready for Valentines day

After getting ready we went to Heston Blumenthal at the Mandarin Oriental. We had so much food that I was worried my new and very much loved dress would rip apart, at one point I was actually sure it had and asked James to check the back. I mean, can you imagine the walk of shame out of the restaurant?? Ha ha.. Luckily it was all fine :) I took lots of photos but I won’t show them until tomorrow because now.. drumroll.. we’re going to PAINT! Yup, we’re going to change into something a little more comfortable and then we’re going to paint in the style of Jackson Pollock which basically means paint splattering. We went and bought canvases, paint and brushes after the lunch so we’re all set. It’s going to be magnificent because we’re both really big competitors and I just know we’ll end up secretly competing – should end up with great paintings though ;D

I will report through instagram if you’re interested in seeing how it’s going, and then I’ll post pictures from Heston Blumenthal tomorrow. Lots of love to you all! xx
