Too Faced Naked Eye Palette Review of Too Faced Naked Eye

I was super excited about trying out some of the products from Too Faced, especially the eyeshadows. What made me bring this love home with me was that it had more matte eyeshadows than the palette from last year ( “Natural eye” had a lot of frost eyeshadows), and the colors looked like they were a better option for cool skin toned girls than the  NAKED palette from Urban Decay. Not to mention how adorable and easy to carry around this palette is….

And the cards that come with it that tell you how to do three different and very easy makeup looks are a brilliant idea….

…. But they should have added three little brushes instead of this applicator. Too Faced is not up to speed on what we want!

Swatches:

In the buff is a light matte eyeshadow.

Pillow Talk is a light shimmery taupe with cold undertones. Very sheer.

Like a virgin is a matte and slightly darker taupe with cold undertones. Feels very chalky and difficult to blend.

These three eyeshadows are used to create the first look described on the cards which is called DAY:

As you may see not much of the colors show even though I´m using a primer as well. But bear in mind that I´ve followed the steps on the cards which proscribe “sweep in this”, “press on that” and “blend in that”. I could of course have got more colors if I´d added water and stuff but that really shouldn´t be necessery. Especially not when the cards are telling me to do it this way.. It´s at this point that I started to feel cheated but I´m not ready to give up quite yet as there are some lovely looking colors coming.

Birthday Suite is a light brown shimmer eyeshadow that is hardly noticeble if it wasn´t for the shimmer.

Satin Sheet looks like it´s a pretty peachy pink with gold shimmer, but it´s really just the gold that shows when it´s swatched. Very odd, but it´s a pretty gold though even though it causes a lot of fall outs.

Unmentionables might be the most pigmented shadow of them all. It´s a cold silver grey with some glitter in it.

These three are the eyeshadows that make up the second look called the CLASSIC:

Not very different from the first look! Birthday Suit isn´t noticeble at all and the mix of gold and cool toned siler-grey isn´t really a winner for me.

Pink Cheeks looks like a shimmery light pink, but there isn´t much pink in it. It´s a light shimmer shadow more or less.

Lap Dance is the color that first caught my eye. It´s a lovely shimmer taupe! Favorite is kind of the wrong word, so I´ll just say that this is the one that I like the most out of these. The pigmentation could have been better though..

Stiletto is a matte black. I don´t like it! It´s actually more of a dark grey when swatched and very difficult to work with.

These three eyeshadows are used to get the third look called FASHION:

A little bit more color in this look then the others, but I´m still not very impressed..

Before I decided to slate this completely I thought I would try to make my own look and use MAC Fix+, water and all of that stuff to see if it was possible to get more use of it then. Halfway into the experiment I stopped. Is it really worth it when you can get cheap and good palettes like Urban Decays instead? NO! It´s now slated! Save your money for something else girls!

Packaging: 5/10 (cute box and a brilliant idea regarding the cards, but the eyeshadows are small, the “brush” that comes with it is useless and the palette has a long way to go before it has anything of a luxurious feel about it)
Quality of the product: 3/10 (some of the colors don’t show at all, but there`s still a couple of eyeshadows that are useable although I doubt I´ll ever use them! )
Value: 5/10 ( the palette doesn´t cost more than €25.60 at Beatybay which means that it´s 9 cheap eyeshadows, but it still doesn´t really make any sense when there´s only a couple that even show, does it?)

Overall: 4/10
