I stumbled upon Blair’s blog last year, and my first impression was that she must spend a massive amount of money on her wardrobe. After a while I noticed many of her clothes are actually from Zara, Asos and Topshop and many of the most expensive looking outfits were in fact some of the most affordable ones.
One of her little tricks is a Chanel brooch. It’s only a small little detail, but it transforms the whole outfit and subconsciously we perceive her whole outfit as much more expensive looking than it might have done had she not worn it.
Ebay have hundreds if not thousands of Chanel brooches for sale, but be wary of fake copies!! Your best bet to find an authentic one is probably at the online retailers that offers a range of vintage items like at Shopbop, Asos, and My-Wardrobe. You may also find one at a trusted online vintage shop like Vintage Heirloom or Vestiaire Collective.
A brooch like this is definitely on my “got to have – list”, how about you? xx

Wow. You’re right. That brooch does make everything look expensive. I love taking an expensive necklace and layering it over a topshop dress. I also love how versatile it is. It can be worn so many different ways. It makes it look like everything she is wearing is Chanel. :)
It is worth the money to invest on a statement piece like that! I actually think my grandmother has a Chanel brooch similar to that one. She has a lot of vintage Chanel. I think I might need to raid my grandmas closet instead of going shopping today!! Lol :)
Lots of love

It does look good , but in other hand very silly. I wouldn’t use Chanel brooch on other brand’s clothes. But I need to admit it still-looks chic….
Never though of it this way but you are right. Just seeing that brooch makes you think that her outfits are quite expensive and sophisticated. Cool choice I say, it’s something simple but effective and it definitely looks nice. Let us know when you find a good deal. :) I admit that I would love to have a statement accessory but I haven’t found “the one” yet.

It does look stunning on photographs, but don’t think it’s my “thing”. I guess I’m more of a statement bag person :-). x

Love her pink and beige outfit! The Celine must be similar to yours, Celina? :) I have a Chanel brooch which I got in Paris many years ago, but even though I often open the box and admire it, I never seem to put it to use.. such a shame! Have to get better at that :)
Good luck with the decorating by the way, I really cannot wait to see pictures! Especially of the wardrobe.. and the livingroom.. and the bedroom.. okay basically everything haha! xx

@Jurgita:
Why should it be silly to wear a Chanel brooch on another brand’s clothes? I own no ‘high end pieces’ only a few ‘nice’ pieces which are genuine leather/gold and love to mix and match them with ‘budget’ brands. After all; as you can see with Celina’s wardrobe; it’s how you wear it, not what you wear. An outfit which is 100% Zara/Primark/New Look can look better than an outfit which is 100% Chanel. It’s all a matter of confidence and attitude :)
Small details like this brooch make such a huge difference to the overall look of an outfit. What a great blog, thanks for introducing me!

Clever detail, however I find it too big and a bit in your face. I prefer more subtle..

Her style is phenomenal, her blog is a bit impersonal but the way she mixes styles is amazing! Great find!
In my opinion it does look distasteful. It reminds me of the typical Hermès belt or Louis Vuitton bags with all the LV symbols over it which is only worn by people who need to show off,but actually do not have any idea of good taste. Also,I think it makes a woman look old and it is too conservative for a woman in her 20s or 30s.The same goes for a pearl necklace – I would never it unless I am over 50…I live in Paris which is a fashion and style capital,so I tend to observe what is worn here and what fashionable and stylish women prefer to wear or not.And I barely see women wearing such a brooch or similar statement accessories, because they prefer understatement while still looking very chic and elegant – especially when I think of Carine Roitfeld (the former Vogue Paris editor-in-chief) or Emmanuelle Alt (the actual editor-in-chief) or other well-known women in fashion or fashion bloggers…But as I said, this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to have his own!
Yes, everyone is entitled to have his own opinion. I think you’re taking it a bit far when you say no fashionable woman in Paris or in fashion wouldn’t wear it though, Miroslava Duma who is one of the biggest names in fashion has one just like this. I also think a pearl necklace can be worn by people younger than 50……. But as you say, if YOU don’t like it you are entitled to :)
I actually was only referring to fashionable women in Paris which are my personal role-models.And here no one would wear such a brooch or a pearl necklace (for example). At least,I haven’t seen wearing any woman under 50 wearing this accessories in the past years…I know Miroslava Duma and I think she deserves to be one of the biggest names in fashion. But as I said, this is my personal opinion and I was relating my statement to Parisian/French women in fashion – not anyone else :)
She doesn’t look old! She looks f*cking incredible!!! That isn’t an opinion, that is fact ;-)
I love Chanel brooches!
I do not have any CC logo ones, but have a few designs with a discrete logo on them and I get sooo many compliments regarding them. I also have a few camellia’s (leather and tweed) which are completely understated (IMO) as they have no logo on them.
I also love good quality pearls (necklaces and studs) and as long as you style them properly, I think they look great (think Carrie’s Mikimoto’s in SATC)! I guess I’m an old lady at heart!
p.s. I cannot wait to see your new purchases you make in London to fill your new wardrobe! :) Harvey Nichol’s has a great sale on just now! I just got myself a new Celine bag for an amazing price!
Beautiful looks!!! Kiss from Andalucía.

I do love Miroslava’s style and her personality too, she is very sweet and beautiful girl, and I am proud she is Russian (well, Ukrainian..), but honestly saying she is not a fashion icon here in Russia anymore..
I can name you some current fashionistas in Russia if you like.

I think Chanel logo has a perceived value. It signifies luxury, European-chic… And I love brooches. They can change the whole look to be glamorous. But wearing a huge logo badge on my chest… Umm, personally I don’t see it suitable for me.
Uh, I do not like it at all. The CC brooch looks horrible. The woman looks great, just skip that brooch please.
What a sneaky way to pump up a look. Hehe. I am kind of intrigued!
