Today I spent half the day “designing” the dressing room. I decided to go for the Ikea pax system, only we’ll make a few changes to make it fit the room perfectly :) The drawing above is of all the units more or less how they will be dressed, but they won’t be lined up like in the picture above. I thought I’d include the drawing with a description of what I’m planning on keeping where as I know some of you have been wondering about the process of choosing the amount of shelves and rails according to clothes. We already have a good amount of wardrobe space so this entire thing will be filled with my stuff while James will be using the fitted wardrobes which has great shoe shelves and everything already – win win for both :D
The wardrobe units will be delivered tomorrow, and then James’ guys will come and build it plus another shelf unit on Tuesday. That means I’ll have a full dressing room before I’ve done the first food shop hahaha…
As for the rest of the room I would love to have an antique mirrored chest of drawers for the middle of the room to keep accessories and things in. On top I’ll probable keep my most worn jewellery, coffee books, flowers, candles and such. I also want to squeeze in a plant in one of the corners to get a sense of freshness to the room, but seeing as we’ll be travelling quite a bit it will have to be artificial. A massive artificial orchid is another item on my list which I’m planning on placing on top of a mirrored pedestal against a small wall. I’ve found Sia to have quite good quality artificial plants and flowers, anyone know of other brands that does high quality artificial plants and flowers?
Wednesday the interior designers behind the gorgeous Holland Park house will pay us a visit so I’ll have the opportunity to check out their catalogs and get some ideas for our flat. It’s going to be so incredibly exciting!! :D
I’m terribly sorry I haven’t had the chance to answer the rest of the questions from the question session, Ikea has a knack with stealing more of our time than we plan on, don’t they? I will do my best at having it up tomorrow.
I hope you’re having an amazing Sunday, sweets!! xx

That looks so dreamy and perfect! I love that we’re getting a play-by-play of what’s happening in the new flat, very exciting. =]
Thanks so much for this detailed thought process on the making of the dressing room! I can’t wait to see the final result!!! :)
Have fun tomorrow witht the interior designers!
Ohh la la! I’m so excited to see the finished product! Dressing rooms are my favorite room to see inspiration and whatnot. And I love the mirrored dresser. I know a lot of people who have furniture like that and it always looks so glamorous!
Hope you’re having fun in the city!
xx

I also have the Ikea pax system (love it!), and I`m also moving these days! I just did a post on my little closet detox,
I had to let go of a lot of clothes, but if felt really good sorting through everything!

Hei Celina!
tusen takk for svar!
I’m so glad your dressing room is coming together so quickly and easily for you :) It sounds like you and James have a nice set up for yourselves, and I can’t wait to see what you do with your new home. Best of luck as you continue decorating!
When my husband and I built our house we actually bought Pax wardrobes and had the carpenters fit them to get a built-in-look. I think we bought a total of 16 wardrobes! Still love my Pax and I appreciate how easy it is to pop by IKEA if I want to change something – I actually need to add a few new shelves for shoes.. ehm…
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for such a bright and fun blog filled with beautiful pictures. I’m pregnant and can hardly get out of the house so I live through blogs like yours right now. So in my head I’m in London, visiting all my favorite places. It’s really a great city and I hope you’ll enjoy it.
I cant wait to see how your dressing room will turn out! Thanks for letting us be part of the process, such a good idea drawing it like that first, to see where you will fit everything in. Definitely something to try next time we decorate :) Is this IKEAs own planning system, or did you use something else?
Hope you have a great day in lovely London! You’re SO lucky to be living there now :D

Yes, it’s Ikeas own planning system, really clever :) London is wonderful!! :D
I can’t wait to see the wonderful room you are going to create!
Regarding artificial flowers, the French brand Hervé Gambs makes amazing things (they have several shops in Paris and in several departments stores in France; maybe you could find it at Selfridges?).
Enjoy London!!
Just looked it up online, thank you so much, they look beautiful! :)
Hi Celina,
I really recommend Sia flowers, they have a nice selection at Selfridges by the candles on the lower floor. Great quality and beautiful orchids!
