We all want to dress trendyily but at the same time look good, right? I know I sometimes try on something trendy that just doesn’t go with my body at all, whilst other pieces may be perfect for my bodyshape. I’ve gathered a little bit about each body shape and how to determine what body shape you are. I’ve also included an ideal outfit and trend. That doesn’t mean you have to stick to that trend, it’s just an idea :) Hope you like it!
Slender:
How to determine if you are slender: Light build, lean muscle, small joints, long limbs, a flat chest, small shoulders and not very curvy. Your hip measurments will be about the same as your bust measurement or a little bit bigger and your waist will be slightly less, but not as much as an hourglass.
You are lucky to have a modelesque body and most clothes will fit you nicely, but sometimes you may feel you want to highlight your feminine curves some more. Clothes with frills, fluted edges and ruffles will create volume which will give you those feminine curves you are looking for. An open back will flaunt your sexy back which is the new sophisticated cleavage. Chunky statement necklaces that fall around the bust area are great for creating an impression of bigger boobs without having to turn to very padded bras. Swirly floral prints will instantly give a feminine look. Keep jewellery thin and simple as it goes well to your long and slender limbs.

“The great advantage of an athletic shape is you can wear pretty much anything,” says Alain Mehada, the head personal shopper at Debenhams. “However, lots of my clients who have this shape complain about feeling unfeminine and find it difficult to find clothes that suit their slightly androgynous shape.”
Show off your body with a short fitted dress, pencil skirts or A-line skirts that highlights your waist, and opt for skinny jeans in daytime. Skinny jeans will look great on your long slim legs, and in summer cute shorts are your best friend. Look for ruffles on tops as they will soften up your body and make it look more feminine, the softer the material the better.

Hourglass:
How to determine if you are a hourglass: Shoulder and hips should be within 5% of each other. Take the hip (or shoulder) measurement and subtract 10 (assuming that you’re working in inches). This will give you the approximate waist measurement for this person to be considered a hourglass (within a couple of inches).
Hourglass figures look great naked or in a bikini, but unfortuantely they don’t always look great in trendy cuts designed for slender figures.
Accentuating your waistline is everything for you. Stay away from large square dresses and opt for fitted dresses instead. You can wear any shape skirt, but the pencil skirt is the most flattering on you. Team with a simple shirt, tucked in and unbuttoned to reveal a little cleavage. Stay away from tank tops as they will give volume to your arms. Blouses that hang loosely around your arms is better. You want to find a pair of jeans with low pockets, this will give your buttom some oomph. Stay away from chunky necklaces as these will make your bust even bigger.

Pear:
How to determine if you are a pear: The hip measurement will be the largest, with narrow shoulders and defined waist. If in doubt, take the shoulder measurement and add 5%. This will give you the minimum hip measurement to be considered a pear.
People with pear shapes often mistake their body for being hourglass. The difference is that you probably have a slim upper body as opposed to an hourglass which normally has a bigger upper body. Your “weakness” is your bottom half which is bigger then the rest of your body.
You will look great in anything fitted on your upper body, and a nipped-in waist followed by a flared or A-line skirt. Blazers with shoulderpads will look great on you as they will balance out your hips, just make sure you find one that is fitted around the waist and end above your hip. For jeans you want to go for dark colours as they will be slimming on your bottom half, pair it with a light coloured top to draw attention to your slim upper body. Avoid anything that creates a horizontal line across hips – low slung belt, tops that end at the widest part, and pants with pockets that create this horizontal line. Adding punchy and chunky accessories will draw attention to your upper body as well.

Apple:
How to determine if you are an Apple: Hip and shoulder measurements will be the same (or very close) and the waist will be very similar or larger than the hip or shoulder measurement. Take the hip or the shoulder measurement (remember that these will practically be the same) and subtract 25%. This will give you the minimum waist measurement to be considered an apple.
Apple shapes have amazing legs, so it’s all about showing off your legs while wearing something that is lose around your waist.
Boxy and rectangular short dresses paired with high heels will really show off those beautiful legs and hide away your tummy. Bodyshaping underwear will work wonders for you, shaping your waist into a more feminine silouette. Stay away from lose jeans and opt for skinny jeans paired with a loose blouse. Light coloured jeans or swirly pattern pants will highlight your legs and draw attention away from your waist.
