Do you remember I wrote about La Bodega Negra months ago, “the sex shop” restaurant? I came across a review on the blog of the talented foodie Rosie and thought it would be a great idea to surprise James with seeing as he was normally the one that took me places in London. We both loved it, and I now hear the place is really trendy and it can be hard to get a table, same goes for Ceviche which is a pity as we really love that place too. Anyway, yesterday we decided to check out La Bodega Negra the café as we were strolling around in Soho feeling peckish :)

We ordered tortilla and guacamole, seabass ceviche, tuna tostada, Guadalajara spicy chicken salad and beef wraps. My favourite was the tuna tostada which is the dish on to the left in the pictures above. I would say La Bodega Negra the cafe gives you a taste of what the restaurant serves but at a much more affordable price, I highly recommend it if you’re looking for lunch in Soho! Unlike La Bodega Negra restaurant you don’t need a reservation which is great if you’re just looking for a quick lunch (or drinks – they have an extensive drinks menu!)

Good afternoon ♥

Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday. Yesterday we decided to head out for a quick dinner in Shepherds Market. We ended up going for some yummy Libanese food and orded enough hummus, pita, tabbouleh, falafel and grilled platter for 4. After dinner we went for a little stroll to let the food digest and decided to go and see Les Misérables the movie on the cinema. We saw the musical a couple of years ago so it was fun to see the movie as well. I thought it was brilliant and weeped in symphony with the rest of the girls. Sigh… just thinking of it makes my throat thicken. Have you seen the musical or the movie, or perhaps you’ve read the book?

Hi lovelies ♥

Hope you’re having a lovely Saturday afternoon? I’ve been curled up with Vogue while painting my nails red. I’ve been wearing grays and earth toned nail polishes lately and felt like having a splash of colour again and red is always a great classic :) If you’re looking for a great red nail polish I recommend OPI Vodka & Caviar – it’s the best! Another must have when painting nails is Seche Vite which is basically just a top coat, it dries your nails instantly which is good if you’re as impatient as me. Bye bye messy smeared nails :)

I’m wearing a very monochrome outfit today including the trousers I blogged about a couple of months ago. I’ll show you some outfit pictures later today! Now I’m off shopping for little bits and bobs for the flat, the story of my life it seems ;)

Chat later xx

side smile Requested: My New Skin Care Routine

This post is going to be particularly interesting for Norwegians, but bare with me and I’ll come to that below. If you’ve read the blog for a while you know I’ve been struggeling with acne since I was 19-20 years old, and I’ve tried everything! All the exclusive skin care products you find in beauty salons and skin clinics, laser, chemical treatments.. you name it, I’ve done it.

Ironically I think where I have gone wrong in the past is choosing very strong products for acne prone skin which eventually just end up drying out the skin. It’s great for breakouts you already have, but it also encourages your healthy skin to produce more sebum which will build up and clog the pore, and that’s how an impurity is born. What the skin will actually benefit from is moisture, collagen stimulant and c-vitamins to rebuild the tissue.

The game changer

I’ve been asked a lot recently if I’ve changed my skin care routine and what products I’m using, and which products I chose to bring to London. This thrills me as I have indeed changed my skin care routine! I purchased Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Creme just before Christmas to see if there were some truth to the hype around the Ole Henriksen products which I see everywhere I turn like in Vogue, Elle, and all over the internet. To my big surprise my skin cleared up massively within only a few days. Cross my heart, I’ve never seen results like this from a moisturiser before.

The Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Creme feels wonderful on the skin and contains SPF which protects against both aging UVA rays and burning UVB rays, it also protects against environmental aggressors due to it’s high level of antioxidants, and it smells fantastic! My skin loves this!

The garden lagoon

After I saw the amazing result with the Ole Henriksen Herbal Day Creme (and I already got feedback from you guys without you even knowing I had changed my routine) I got the award winning Ole Henriksen African tea foaming cleanse and Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster. Not only does this range clear up my skin, but I can finally fight signs of aging at the same time, what a treat!

The first thing to mention about Ole Henriksen African tea foaming cleanse is the extraordinary smell. It smells what I imagine a summer walk in a fruit garden with soft pillows and balloons thrown around would smell like. The cleanser is enriched with anti-aging botanical extracts like naturally antioxidant-rich african red tea and Vitamin C. Its soothing, non-drying formula is strong enough to remove makeup, but gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin like mine. Did I mention it smells divine?

The Truth

Serums are often mistaken as a luxury and not a neccessity in skin care, but believe me, Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster is a must have. It contains Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, which is key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels and gives skin its firmness and strength [source: WebMD]. Vitamin C also helps create scar tissue and ligaments, and it helps your skin repair itself [source: Milton S. Hershey Medical Center]. It is also loaded with antioxidants to fight off environmental aggressors, and moisture-binding ingredients to keep your skin nourished and protected. It’s absorbed instantly and penetrates to the deeper layers of the skin, but can make the skin feel a bit sticky so be sure to have a moisturiser as well as this isn’t enough on its own. Sensitive skin prone to irritation will benefit immensely from the calming properties of this oil-free serum, trust me – it’s the TRUTH (serum)! :D

All Mr. Henriksen’s products are natural, not tested on animals and free of nasty parabens. Celebrities love them and apparently there is indeed truth to the hype – I’m completely sold and can’t wait to expand my skin care range!

Special offer not to be missed:

Buy any Ole Henriksen products for £50 or more & use TRUTHVIP at the checkout and you get a free full 30 ml deluxe bottle of Truth Serum Collagen Booster worth £47!!! How amazing is that?? Offer ends 28th Feb.

In other words, if you buy the Ole Henriksen Herbal Creme SPF 15 and Ole Henriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser you will get the serum for free, a total cost of £57 instead of £104 for all three products!! That makes a massive difference! I will definitely take advantage of this offer as I would love to stock up on this serum and expand my skin care range. Next on my list is night cream, eye cream, mask, peel, scrub, and toner – I’m going to build my very own little Ole Henriksen home spa :D

Hi everyone,

Today I’ve been running around in London’s streets sorting out stuff related to the move to London. Things take time. I can’t open a bank account before I have an utility bill, but it can take several months to get the first bill. It’s a really dumb system. Fortunately I managed to find a way around it :)

Tonight I’m going to a pub quiz which might be fun :) I’m thinking of doing another class of Bikram Yoga tomorrow although I’m still quite achy from Tuesday so I will have an early night.

Hope you’re having a great day!! xx

IMG 1351 Doggie braces

Ah, I’ve slept like a baby tonight! Every single part of my body hurts from yesterday, it’s amazing how much of a workout you can get from staying in one spot – love yoga! After the yoga yesterday we went to see the vet with Linus and they said Linus will have to get braces!! I didn’t even know that existed for dogs :O His teeth hasn’t come out right as some of his milk teeth are still in and at some places he has teeth coming sideways, poor thing. We will fix it ♥

IMG 2600 Doggie braces

Linus was not very happy to hear the news…. Luckily we have a week to prepare. I’m going to spoil him with doggie cupcakes from the doggie spa at Harrods this week (yes, they actually have doggie cupcakes!) because I have a feeling he’ll only be chewing wet dog food next week. Poor little thing…

Hope you’re having a great morning! xx

yoga My first experience with Bikram Yoga

Truth be told I was a bit sceptical, nervous and excited all at once as I arrived at SoHot Bikram Yoga in North Soho in London today. When the smell of the building hit me as I walked through the doors I was tempted to make a u-turn and I probably would had it not been for my friend who took me there. She assured me I would love it once I got really into it and it would be bad to turn around for a little bad odour. Everything should be tried at least once, right?

When I came into the reception area people were wearing very little clothes (men were only wearing little shorts) and I felt a sudden panic of being trapped in a heated sweaty room full of half naked strangers, but as the crazy adventurous londoner I now am  I shook it off and slipped into my running nylon bottoms and nylon top (I was adviced to stay off the cotton) and tiptoed bare foot to the heated room with the half naked strangers. Nothing weird about that, right? ;)

As I entered the Bikram yoga room the heat hit me in that same surprising way as the air in Thailand did the first time I walked out of the plane, extremely humid and very hard to breathe. Again I panicked a little thinking of how the Policies and Etiquette stated no one was at any point allowed to leave the room, but having come this far there was no way I would turn around now. I only needed to get through 90 minutes…

Bikram Yoga My first experience with Bikram Yoga

I got a mat and a towel and found a place in the back where I could sneak a peek at the more experienced bikramers. The session started with vocal breathing techniques which fortunately increased my lung capacity in the humid air. We then starting doing the poses and it wasn’t long until we were all dripping of sweat, and I do really mean dripping. The poses were challenging to the point where my muscles started shaking and I really felt I was getting a great workout. In my head I had pictured all the people bending in ways that would fit right into The Exorsist, but it was actually far more sivilized and without sounding like a real prude I think I managed to keep up fairly well considering it was my first session.

The Bikram Yoga consists of 26 poses:

bikram My first experience with Bikram Yoga

The session was divided into two parts, the first comprised of poses that are more physically challenging and the second of poses that are more about stretching. Apparently most people prefer the second part, but I think I preferred the first part as I quite like to feel I’m challenging my body and feel I’m using my muscles. The trainer we had was brilliant and explained everything very thoroughly, he also made me feel very welcome and at no time did I feel stupid despite some wrong turns here and there.

As I walked out of the room I decided that this could easily become my new “thing”. I feel eager to see how far I can push myself and how far I can be able to bend, and if I next time will be able to do better than this time. One of my new years resolutions was to get more flexible after all :)

What was your first Bikram Yoga session like? Would you consider going for one if you haven’t tried it yet?

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I spent the day shopping with a friend and I’ve found so many wonderful new treasures hidden away, places you would never find unless you knew about them! Once I feel I’ve gotten a good overview of it all I will write a London shopping guide in the addition to the London guide I’ve already written. One of the things I love the most with living in London is how convenient everything is, and if I were to order something online it can be delivered the same day!! Like from Asos, but Asos also delivers worldwide so I thought I could share some of my favourites from the new collection:

clothes1 Asos favourites

clothes2 Asos favourites

Leather dress – here // Pink and gold statement necklace – here // Boyfriend jeans – here

clothes3 Asos favourites

White contrast leather dress – here // Navy prep dress – here // white peplum dress - here

Now I’m planning on walking Linus for 30 minutes and then I’m off breaking my Bikram Yoga virginity. I’ve heard many things about this style of yoga and I’m very excited! I will tell you all about it later ;)

Anyone else tried Bikram Yoga?

As I was going through my emails today I came across an invite to a new web shop where I found this beauty. It’s now on the top of my wish list! It’s perfect for whimsical women who tend to leave their bags behind where ever they go (yes, I do that) and for those late nights when the grip of the hand isn’t of the strongest. Found in this cool shop.

What do you think? Hot or not?
